I wonder who Cleveland would rather have given the choice:
This years 26th pick (was Richardson)
Brandon Weeden
Mitchell Schwartz
Barkevious Mingo

Or

RGIII?

Only the Browns would be that stupid. And if they did offer that it would be to the Texans for control of the board.

this is true why would the browns trade with us when houston could take the player they want. because there are 4 high demand spots the bowns #4 is high value. so i think we could make them the offer of thier first and second for our #2 this might be get them to trade with us instead of houston. then we would control the last high value pick and we might be able to get this years first and second and next year first from the teams competing for #4. that give us 2 frist (one next year) and 2 seconds. that might be about as good as we can get in a trade down scenairo because houston and the browns hold the key spots in the draft

If the Browns do anything close to that, there are guys on the Browns board who will jump off a bridge.

You mean more than usual ?
I thought that was commonplace

I just don't see them gifting us three first round picks. If two teams offer two first round selections, it would be much more likely that they break the tie by throwing in a second or third round pick. Still, the supposed interest in Manziel from Cleveland's front office is definitely a good sign. (y)

. . . unless it's a smoke screen.

if Houston wants a QB which by all accounts they do, then by trading to #4 they might not be able to get one, and even if they did it would be whoever is left, not neccesarily who they really wanted.

If they are cleaning house, they might not be trading anything
Wasn't there a story that LaConfora and he were tight and some draft "secrets" had gotten out about them wanting Manzeil badly.
Maybe he was thrown off the ship cuz of his "loose lips"

While they are the Factory of sadness I don't think they are even that stupid to make that trade. These QB's are just guys. They aren't sure things. The Rams pick is the most valuable since they don't want a QB and there is 3 QB's available. So Browns can sit and take what's left and live with that. But the Rams can keep them from getting a top QB by trading out of the pick to say the Vikes.
So that's where the value is.

Or the new guys might be coming in with a "We have to rebuild everything" attitude and really want that highly rated QB (which our GM did not coming in.)

FWIW I think the uncertainty this raises is nothing but good for us, we have little except that to encourage a bidding war. While it raises our anxiety level ,square that for the people who see themselves in competition with them for our pick.
At the very worst we end up with Clowney.

In 2013 Snead gave up 3 draft selections...One first round pick a second round pick & a seventh round pick to move up 8 spots from #16 to #8 in the first round. Why would any GM give up a 2nd overall pick in the entire draft valued @ least 2600 pts for the 4th overall valued @ 1800 pts & a second rd selection valued around 520 pts total-ling up to about one high second round pick short.

Many say the old valued system is not used? Really ....less than a yr ago Buffulo traded its first rd pick valued @ 1400 pts for the Rams first round pick valued @ 1000 pts & a second round pick valued @ 440 pts & a 7th rd picks valued @ 10pts. Looks might close to the old valued draft trade chart is working even today. So we have fellow posters who will make the trade down with the Browns just for a second round pick just to select Sammy Watkins? That pretend GM would even fired himself once he discovers what a stupid waste of rare priceless draft value he threw in the trash....

Anyone here think that the Texans desire to be in the Browns spot @#4? For only a late first round pick?

Texans badly need & want a QB plus if they did that trade down to #4 its a very strong chance that two top QB's will be off the boards most likely Bortles & Manziel? Others seem to think that the Texans would do that so they could just draft Jadeveon @ #4....Really ?

Snead Fisher & Williams would not leave the Texans Jadeveon Clowney to steal @ #4 would they? First off because they will select him or just make & take the half dozen trade down offers for him. Leaving the Texans looking stupid.

Browns will most likely have to give up both their first round #4 selection & their first round #26 selection In addition their second round pick just to make that trade close in value. Whereas Rams there @ #2 could be made less saving the Browns that high values early second round pick.. Texans demand will be higher than the Rams period Rams have so much room to deal.

It's still possible that the Texans take Clowney at #1 and just pursue someone like Mettenberger later in the draft.

this thread started out would browns give 3 first rounders for manziel. so they would not make us that offer it woud go to the texans so they are sure to get manziel. that is why i suggested we make the browns the offer of our#2 for thier 4 and 2nd rounder. then if clowny lasts to the 4 pick we could take him and have an extra 2nd. if he is gone then that leaves 1 of the top 3 qb and maybe one of the qb hungry teams would make us an over valued trade. that way we could regain the value we lost in the first trade. my self i would just as soon take clowny at 2

why would you take that when you would surely get more from another team, with Bridgewaters stock seeming to drop, that leaves 2 top rated QBs in this draft, and you need to be picking #1 or #2 to get one of them, also add in the fact that Clowney will attract some bidders too and you could have 4 or 5 teams bidding for your spot, a first and second is not going to get it IMO, if Cleveland wants the #2 pick IMO they will need to give up either both their firsts and their second round picks this year, or their #4 and their second rounder this year and their first next year.
