Gonna have some serious doubts about the training staff, if Kupp pulls up gimp partway through the Hags game, that is for sure! And I will seriously lose it, if he he gimps up, w/o contact....

This feels like a silly argument over semantics. Why be upset at Jourdan for calling it what it is and stating the obvious? It can only be two things. A new injury or a setback. If you strain a muscle that you just missed time for, and are now missing practice time again—what else would you like her to call it? Setback is completely accurate here.

I'm not upset, I'm irritated b/c it took her 3 tries and she got him to say "setback" (which is actually what circulates around the news). Sean McVay straight up called it a muscle strain. She asked if it was related to the hammy (which is perfectly fine btw...no prob w/ that). And he said yes.

The next part is what got me. "Would you call it a set back"...."I'd call it that yeah...fair to say".

Then she proceeds to tweet out "Sean McVay said he has a setback".

That's not how it went down. It's twisting words...and even though I acknowledge in the grand scheme of things it might not be a huge deal, it comes across more negative than it already is.

If setback was too sensationalist, McVay woulda said so. He woulda said “nah, you know what Jourdan, we just wanna make sure we aren’t rushing him back into stuff too quickly. We are still 10 days out from the opener, he’ll be fine. Our staff has a great plan for him to make sure he’s 100%, and we look forward to seeing him out there”.

Well no, I'm talking about her tweets and news posts. Lately there's a trickling which read as more dramatic (in a negative way) than before. Like the Joe Noteboom thing.

Look I don't have a huge issue, it's something how i see and read. There's clearly negative vibe circulating the team and she's slowly fueling that fire.

But McVay didn’t say that. He acknowledged it was a setback. Begrudgingly, yes. But he still acknowledged it. Because that’s what it is!

Well yeah...he called it a little muscle strain w/o anybody asking him. Why not just leave it at that?

I agree with this. McVay said, "yeah, he's got a little muscle strain, we're kinda taking it day by day."
Jourdan reported that McVay said, "He had a setback."

Those two sentences imply different levels of concern, in my opinion.

Having said that, I think Jourdan has proved how thoughtful and professional and ethical she is, so I doubt she'll go over to the "sensationalist" dark side.

Well he’s seeing a specialist in Minnesota so it sounds like setback was probably a pretty appropriate word.

.

My money league is 2 nights away and I need some freaking clarification. I was all in on Kupp at #3 but now I'm freaking out. Why is everything always so freaking difficult?

Yes, I'm stressed.

Bunch of ppl bashing Jourdan this week - sounds like she was right. Kupp unlikely to play week 1. That’s a setback- not day to day.

Yeah that sucks dude, Kupp was on the board when I picked at 5 and I skipped him for Kelce, yep took a TE in the 1st round for 1st time in a money league. I don't like taking injured players until they are back for a while you just never know. Kupp went 17th in my league. Kupp will likely still pay off for you

17th you say?

If this injury news can push him back to me in the 2nd round at #22 I may just hit the jackpot. Talk about seeing drs freaks everyone out.

Yep.

I get what McVay was trying to do. He wanted to spin it and make it seem not as bad and also make Seattle game plan and practice as if Kupp is still playing. Jourdan probably had sources telling her it was more serious, which is why she pushed for the “setback” language.

But let’s be clear, it was McVay who was twisting the truth with his words, not Jourdan.

Semantics. Is a muscle strain a setback? Could a setback be a muscle strain? Isn't day to day or "kinda day to day" the same as, "we'll see how he responds to treatment"? We've seen enough guys day to day who missed the upcoming week's game. And we've seen enough guys day to day who play. Sensationalizing can be over reacting to a minor injury. It's a muscle strain, not an ACL or high ankle sprain. Hopefully he plays Sunday. If not, hopefully he plays the following week. If he misses 2 weeks, sensationalizing will go out the window.
