Dispite his OC gig in Miami I don't think he will be our OC. I think he's still a work in progress before getting another OC gig in the NFL imho.

I actually feel bad for the Redskins. They essentially have to rebuild their entire staff just because we do lol

Huh?? I thought Wade's kid was the TE coach in Washington? Mebbe they got more than one.....could explain why they have had a lot of success with the position.

I believe his title in Washington was Offensive Quality Control. He's coming to the Rams as our TE coach.

Shane-Waldron-Coach-Card-2016.jpg

Shane Waldron is entering his sixth NFL season and his first with the Redskins after being named the team’s offensive quality control coach on February 17, 2016.

Prior to joining the Redskins, Waldron had most recently spent four seasons at UMass, serving as the Minutemen’s Recruiting Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach from 2012-13 and Offensive Line Coach from 2014-15. Waldron helped guide tight end Rob Branchflower to a seventh-round selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2014 NFL Draft after Branchflower set the school record for most career receiving yards by a tight end.

In 2011, Waldron served as the offensive coordinator at the Buckingham Browne & Nichols H.S. (Mass.) and also as a Northeast Sports Consultant. A year earlier, he served as Wide Receivers Coach for the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League.

Before his stint in the UFL, Waldron worked with the New England Patriots in various capacities across two different stints with the franchise. Beginning in 2002, Waldron served as an operations intern for two seasons before being promoted to the title of an operations assistant in 2004, when he handled special teams quality control duties in addition to overseeing the completion of weekly game plans. After three years coaching at Notre Dame, Waldron returned to New England in 2008 to serve as an offensive quality control coach and later served as the tight ends coach in 2009.

Waldron spent the 2005-07 seasons as an offensive graduate assistant at Notre Dame. With the Irish, he helped guide two of the most explosive offenses in school history, as both the 2005 and 2006 units averaged at least 31 points per game.

A native of Portland, Ore., Waldron is a 2002 graduate of Tufts University, where he was a three-year letterman as a tight end and long snapper.

WALDRON FOOTBALL TIMELINE
2014-15: Offensive Line Coach, Massachusetts
2012-13: Recruiting Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach, Massachusetts
2011: Offensive Coordinator, Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (Mass.)
2010: Wide Receivers, Hartford Colonials
2009: Tight Ends, New England Patriots
2008: Quality Control, New England Patriots
2005-07: Graduate Assistant, Notre Dame
2004: Operations Assistant, New England Patriots
2002-03: Operations Intern, New England Patriots
1998-2001: Tight End/Long Snapper, Tufts University

So my question on Shane Waldron is why did he leave New England for the Hartford Colonials?

A few quick-hit thoughts on the news that Shane Waldron will not return to the Patriots as tight ends coach:

1. Waldron was a graduate assistant on Charlie Weis' staff at Notre Dame from 2005-2007, before returning to New England in 2008 as a coaching assistant. With Weis back in the NFL as Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, it wouldn't be surprising to see Waldron land there. The Chiefs' tight ends coach in 2009, Bob Bicknell, is now with the Buffalo Bills.

2. This will mark the third straight year the Patriots have a new tight ends coach. Waldron seemed to be more of a communicator than the team's prior tight ends coach Pete Mangurian, and his approach was well received by players.

3. The tight ends coach is usually part of the coordination of the running game, so someone with a background at the position or along the offensive line would be an ideal candidate. In-house options include coaching assistants Brian Ferentz (offensive lineman at Iowa from 2001-2005) and Patrick Graham (coached tight ends at Richmond from 2005-2006).

For those thinking the Rams might be waiting for Chris Morgan to finish his season:

Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is getting a lot of media attention this week. He’s run an historical offense this season, likely earning a head coach gig with the San Francisco 49ers. It’s basically a foregone conclusion at this point and many are wondering who he will try to take with him.

According to the AJC’s Jeff Schultz, the Falcons aren’t simply going to let him walk with some of their premier offensive assistant.

Don’t expect the Falcons to lose any assistant of significance. A source said the team will block any attempt by Shanahan to take one of Dan Quinn’s high-profile assistants, such as assistant head coach/wide receivers coach Raheem Morris, running backs coach Bobby Turner and offensive line coach Chris Morgan.

See that? It’s a line, over there in that sand. It’s been drawn.

WR Coach Eric Yarber Will Leave UCLA for Rams

Feb. 2 -- Bruin Report Online has learned UCLA wide receiver coach Eric Yarber will leave the school to be the new wide receiver coach for the Los Angeles Rams...

UCLA wide receiver coach Eric Yarber will leave the program to take the the wide receiver coaching position with the Los Angeles Rams, according to sources.

Yarber, 53, has been with UCLA since Jim Mora was hired as head coach in 2012.

He has experience in the NFL, previously coaching receivers with the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He played two seasons in the NFL himself, for the Washington Redskins, after being a standout receiver at Idaho.

Yarber generally was considered a good receivers coach while at UCLA, thought of as solid technician, and it was generally believed he developed his talent well, preparing a number of UCLA receivers for the NFL, such as Jordan Payton, Thomas Duarte and others.

He has received criticism, however, for his recruiting results.

Then last season his receivers were thought to have under-performed as a group when they had a tendency to drop balls.

Wide receiver recruiting for the 2017 class also didn't end well, with UCLA not signing one receiver recruit, ultimately getting beaten out by Florida Atlantic for its top target, JC receiver DeAndre McNeal.

There was some sentiment around the UCLA program that Yarber might be let go after last season, but he was retained up until his move to the Rams.
