I haven't seen the rams beat the giants since i started watching the nfl 30 years ago. Let's not count our chickens yet.

.
Not True! It has only been since 2002 that the Giants have been beating us!
Life time the Rams are 25-16-0 in regular Season over the Giants and we are 1-1 in the Playoff!
McVay will turn things around again!

Saw them in the dome... beat the Giants in '99

i didn't. that's probably why i don't remember it. no game pass back then. i had no internet back then either. i didn't even have cable yet. the only chance i got to see the rams play was in the playoffs.

Jerry Reese: We bought into the hype too much
Posted by Josh Alper on October 24, 2017

Giants General Manager Jerry Reese held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon and faced questions about what’s gone wrong with the team he put together over the first seven games of the season.

The Giants are 1-6 in those games, which is well below the expectations that built up around the team heading into the season. Reese believes that paying attention to those expectations is part of the problem as he said too many people in the organization “bought into the hype” about how good they could be in 2017. By way of illustrating that feeling, Reese said he thought the team looked hungrier last year than they do this year.

Teams don’t lose six of their first seven games just because they had too high an opinion of themselves in August, though, and Reese addressed issues with the roster construction by saying he’s “the reason we’re 1-6” and taking ownership of the roster that he put together this year.

One of the spots on that roster that has come up for the most criticism is the offensive line, but Reese said he doesn’t believe the team’s overly optimistic view of the 2017 season extended to the offensive line. He said he didn’t feel there was a lot of help out there for the team to acquire, although the Vikings and Rams both seemed to find needed upgrades in free agency this offseason.

While the combination of the awful start, the shaky line and the loss of Odell Beckham and Brandon Marshall at receiver would seem to eliminate the Giants from any hope of making a run at the playoffs. Reese wouldn’t concede that, saying the Giants have “been left for dead before” and shouldn’t be counted out.

If that sounds like hype to keep up interest in the final nine games of what has looked like a lost season for weeks now, it’s surely a coincidence.

Ben McAdoo: You can make case we weren’t hungry enough
Posted by Josh Alper on October 31, 2017

The Giants had a bye last week and General Manager Jerry Reese held a press conference that saw him both say he was responsible for putting together a 1-6 team and that he’d put together a good team that bought into its own hype too much.

As a result of that hype purchase, Reese said he thinks the team has not been hungry enough this season. That criticism extends beyond the players to the job the coaching staff has done to get players ready to play and coach Ben McAdoo addressed it on Monday by saying that a lack of hunger would only account for some of what’s gone wrong this year.

“Were we a hungry enough football team?” McAdoo said, via Newsday. “You can make a case that we weren’t. … Each and every game, there are a variety of things that happen that put you on a path to either winning or losing, and the same can be said for a season. So it’s difficult to point to just one thing and say it’s just one thing. We have to be careful of doing that.”

Offensive lineman Justin Pugh was one of the players that called this Giants team the best one they’ve ever been on, although he said Monday that never meant “we’re so good we don’t have to get ready to go play.” He did add that he feels the “hungriest” team wins in the NFL, allowing him to see Reese’s point based on the comparison between the team has performed in close games this year and the way they won them last year.

http://boards.giants.com/forum/new-...-giants-football/2994111-sad-to-post-this-but

Sad to post this BUT

I think we are looking at no personnel changes, 1 more possible win over SFO, and no sightings of Davis Webb

MacAdoo is nothing if not STUBBORN. I expect if we lose to the Rams the team will start "mailing it in"......They will then fear if Webb comes in
he pulls out a few wins and embarrass them.

I know that sounds crazy but we've seen this movie before.

Question is what does 2-14 buy you........Cleveland and San Fran seem determined to go 0-16
--------
This season is quite depressing but goes to show how close the margin is for good and bad teams in the NFL. Last year with practically the same personnel and better luck, we went 11-5.......go figure

We fans have no say, that's for sure.
---------
The Giants just seem so programmed to lose lately, even Eli, and I like Eli. Its almost a hands up in the air "I dont know what the hell to do if I could" mentality going on even with players who try to keep a good attitude.
---------
This team isn't beating the 49'rs, they've got nothing that hasn't been seen and the heart of a veal.

New York Giants: Youthful Rams provide stern test for Big Blue
by Curt Macysyn

image

Come on admit it, during the summer, you penciled in this week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams as a win.

Don’t fret, within New York Giants Nation, you certainly had plenty of company. Now with the personnel that the Rams have, this game was never going to be a lay-up. That’s next week’s contest against the San Francisco 49ers.

Now, not many saw the Los Angeles Rams as a legitimate NFC West contender this season. Rebuilding takes a year, doesn’t it?

Not in today’s NFL.

A 5-2 record is a testament to their head coach and general manager. The coach is 31-year old rookie skipper Sean McVay, and general manager is veteran Les Snead. Both committed to young quarterback Jared Goff, who didn’t play much last season. But the biggest improvement came in the form of addition by the subtraction of head coach Jeff Fisher.

Prior to this season, the Rams had the worst offense in the NFL for two straight seasons. McVay came in after three seasons as the Washington Redskins offensive coordinator. All one has to do is look at the dysfunction in Washington, and progress in Los Angeles, to know what the common denominator is: Sean McVay.

Star Power
McVay is also guilty of being in the right place at the right time. Under Snead, the Rams have drafted well. Running back Todd Gurley, defensive lineman Aaron Donald and linebacker Alec Ogletree were all products of the Rams NFL draft.

But Snead didn’t stop there, When Los Angeles could not develop a tackle through the draft, he signed veteran Andrew Whitworth this offseason. He also signed the team’s leading receiver Robert Woods as a free agent and drafted wideout Cooper Kupp (Washington) in the 2017 third round.

Working out a trade with the Buffalo Bills for receiver Sammy Watkins may pay dividends too. In Los Angeles, Watkins does not have to be the passing game savior. In total, the Rams have gone from worst to ninth in offense. They average almost 380 total yards per game.

Ironically, most folks thought that the New York Giants offense would be that prolific. At face value, the differences between the two teams are visible. The Rams have an innovative head coach, who appears to be organized. And the team’s general manager has left no stone unturned in his quest to build a roster.

Sounds like the polar opposite of the New York Giants.

My friend is a die-hard NY Giants fan, here's his text to me:
"Rams are playing a middle school football team this weekend...wanna try to get together and watch?"

My opinion, this is a trap game. The Giants beat the Broncos who were doing great at the time. I hope we don't take these guys for granted and start looking forward in our schedule before we beat these guys down

I could have posted this in the Jenkins thread but I'm hard up for any comments by Giants fans on their team.

Janoris Jenkins suspended

The team don't care anymore. No leadership. No direction.

See ya McAdoo
--------
Do we care at this point?
---------
The rams are going to beat them by 30 points on Sunday.
-----------
Mcadon't has lost control of the team, and with the two suspensions and the benching of Apple a few weeks ago, is trying to hold it together. If the loosing continues( I'm sure it will), it might become imperative for Mr. Mara to step in and fire Ben and name Spags intern coach.

I'd be willing to bet that a loss to the Rams and 49'ers might just do it. the last seven games of the season won't be pretty, for us fans. I would also bet that the New Year's eve game might be a low, that will be hard to erase from the memory, if Mac is still calling the shots.
-----------
Giants are going to beat Rams.
----------
Well its official. McAdoo has lost this team, so long Benjamin!
----------
WOW! This team is falling apart at the seams. Thanks "McAdope and Reach"
---------
Wasn't there like conspiracy theories about the giants trying to blow the season because macdoo hates Eli and they want to draft a new qb. Damn it sure seems like those people are right.
---------
This team has ZERO respect for their coach, pretty damn clear at this point. Take your slicked back hair and your ****ing sunglasses somewhere else, guy is ****ing clown.
---------
It started when our WRs partied on a boat instead of preparing for a playoff game against a really good GB team or perhaps when Macadoodle was named head joker.
----------
Eli is gonna win every time. The guy had millions of dollars in bank with 2 Superbowl mvps and a ticket to canton. All macdoo has is a bad hair cut.
----------
This team is arguably the worst run team in the NFL.
----------
This team has become the laughingstock of the league and it's just sad at this point. I need a beer- or several....
----------
Jenkins is not a high charecter guy to begin with. Put a losing season and a HC on him that he doesn;t trust, and this is what happens.
---------
1-15 is definitely possible now

Since Giants fans are saying nothing about their upcoming game with the Rams, one must wonder if they've given up already. Hopefully the Rams will snuff out any hope this fanbase has left on Sunday. The following image best describes the mood of NY Giants fans.

this is why I wanted Spags to be HC (I must add my LOL here and be careful what you wish for - PT)
he has experience as an HC. It’s a totally different beast. And I’m sure his first stint has taught him a lot. Mac was green last year. You can even tell how he ran the offense. They sucked!

Defense was top notch. All the defensive players trust and like Spags. They excelled with him last year.
Now, I think the defense has had enough with Mac - open season revolt.
Time to get Spags to interim HC.
Then go from there…
-----------
I don't think we were actually a playoff caliber roster.
If you look at the underlying statistics, we got really really lucky last year.

This year we’re getting really really unlucky, but the true talent level of this team is somewhere in the middle: probably 6-7 wins on average.
---------
I would like to formally apologize for being in the "Fire Tom Coughlin" camp a few years ago

There were some areas that I thought he needed to improve on (namely getting more from young players), but I can man up and say that I was wrong.

Because…. man oh man, Tom would have never let this happen. Mac seems to have completely lost the locker room. This is bad. Really bad.
---------
I was a card carrying member of that same camp for many years. Couldn’t stand the play calling, the clock management, thought the "disciplinarian" bit expired at least five years before he was shown the door, but……

whenever I discussed Coughlin with friends and fans I always gave the guy credit for keeping control of the locker room. You never once heard a bad thing said about the guy, on or off the record. No one ever challenged him (post 2007, anyway, once he stopped caring about the unimportant things).

Don’t know what you’ve lost till its gone, I guess.
---------
giphy.gif

---------
At this point though I am OK blowing it all up and trading Eli while fondly remembering the Ray Handley era.
---------
giphy.gif

-----------
Yes, I'll say it
"The inmates are running the asylum."
---------
Wow that is just about the most "coach lost the locker room" thing you'll see
Just didn’t bother to show up or call…

McAdoo is a stain on the Giants franchise. Yeah, this is BS from Jenkins too, but attitude reflects leadership.
--------
I think one day we’ll look back at Mac as the worst coach we ever had, honestly. The fact that he’s STILL been unable to put up 30 points, with all the weapons we’ve given him, is actually hilarious.

Cannot wait for him and the rest of this pathetic "coaching staff" to be fired like they so sorely deserve.
---------
giphy.gif

----------
You can't fire the team
You have to fire the coach… and take the creator of fables and wild tales with him!

New Front office please… Stability is only good if it works… this isn’t working.
---------
giphy.gif

----------
This is a joke
Either they are sick of Mac or sick of Spags. Either way it`s on the head coach, and he needs to go. Yesterday. There is no way in this world that Mac and Reese can be here next year. The roster was not addressed at all today and the players have no respect for leadership. I know we the fans have no respect for anyone, and no team in the NFL has respect for the GIANTS. This is a joke.
---------
But still, this FO needs to be cleaned out, regardless of who our QB is. It’s never too early to try and get the team going in a new direction, because right now they’re racing to the bottom.
----------
It's not a very popular opinion
but I think that a whole lot of our offensive woes can be laid at Eli’s feet. The only way that I see Eli winning again, is if we could put together the pieces that would allow him to essentially be a game manager that could maybe elevate his game in a very few big moments.

The problem is I don’t see that being a real possibility while paying his salary, and for that matter Webb could probably win games if we weren’t really asking him to do anything other than hand the ball off and hit OBJ with five yard slants.
----------
This team also has glaring holes however, OL being the biggest one. Throwing Eli, an immobile and aging QB behind it is gross negligence and Jerry Reach is the culprit. If you fire the coaching, Reese HAS to go. He should have been shown the door after TC got the boot.
----------
the New York Clowns
This team is one big circus
They cant get rid of Mcadoo soon enough
--------
Trying Not to Overreact
But this is getting ridiculous.
How quickly this team has fallen to levels not seen since the 1970s. Absolutely pitiful.
--------
COWHER
Help us !!
--------
matt-patricia.jpg

---------
The team needs to totally
be blown up yet we do "nothing" at the trade deadline. Manning, DRC, Vereen, JPP, etc, etc. We do nothing because everyone is concerned about winning 4-5 games and saving their jobs as opposed to re-setting the team for the future.

So this is what we get…we’ll play Manning instead of Webb and keep the status quo and hope to win 4-5 games so next year we can have the same dreadful coaches, coaching down the same dreadful players and missing the playoffs for the 6th of the last 7 years.
--------
https://www.bigblueview.com/2017/10...e-deadline-passes-quietly-for-new-york-giants

NFL trade deadline passes quietly for New York Giants

You know you don't hate this team
mad sure, but not hate.
--------
It's a thin line between love and hate
-------
Somewhere around an Eli fumble

--------
I'm seriously looking at the continuation of a losing culture....
--------
This freaking team...
REESE’s ineptitude is amazing. We couldn’t get anything for anyone to rebuild?! I have watched this hapless GM blunder his way through a decade. Coughlin won in spite of him and Spags pulled off a miracle making all of the high priced free agents work.

Look at what Howie did for the Eagles once they cut bait with Chip Kelly. That rebuild didn’t take very long. Is it too much to ask for a GM who does GM things ie trade up and down in the draft and acquire more picks?!

This man occasionally hits home runs but more consistently fails on his annual 7 to 8 picks a year. The thought of him and McAdoo returning another season and ruining another year of Giants football makes me sick to my stomach…
--------
This team is stuck
Stuck with a mediocre roster, a GM that fails and an HC that has no clue.

If there is not a tidal change at season end, we are doomed. And Mara will be at fault.

The Rams are 10-9 against the giants since 1988 and 26-17 all-time. How have you not seen a win????

Man, any given Sunday so nothing is guaranteed but it would be embarrassing if we don't destroy them this Sunday. No receivers, no running game, bad oline, and a pocket passing qb. Just has defensive stat padding all over it.

The defense isn't bad but obviously has other issues to deal with.

Don't turn the ball over and avoid injuries and this should be one of the least stressful games of the season.

Another question: Why do some of these guys want Spags as their coach? He was awful as coach of the Rams had no clue on how to run an offense.

A lot of fans will think that he's been an ok DC for them and they'll think it was just he was bad because it was the Rams and not that he was bad.

If they hire him he will set back their franchise a minimum of 3 years.

They don't know how truly bad Little Napoleon was. I still remember the guy's inability to attract quality assistant coaches. That speaks volumes.

I just want the W. The Giants are better than their record. We need to make this another statement game.

Man, there hasn't been very many games lately where it's squarely expected the Rams should win with no problems. I'm conditioned to expect the worst out of a game like this. Yet, I trust McVay and Wade to have the team ready, I trust them to adjust during the game, so if we can come out and take an early lead, it ought to be game-over by then.
