Not sure about CW. As I recall, he was deemed something of a reach pick for the Bears when drafted, one of the knocks being that he has pretty short arms, which is difficult for an offensive lineman to overcome with all the hand fighting that's required. That said, he did look pretty good in spot duty last year.

I think best case scenario is that Watkins wins the job in camp, gets reinserted in the lineup in week 2, and that the team can have some super subs in Williams and Jones in case of injury - always good to have those guys on the bench who can play multiple positions.

Rams Chris Williams has not been consistent starting OL'er in the NFL. In truth even with the positive spin that we have heaped on CW here @ ROD'ville one word to sum up his NFL career since being drafted OLT first in 2008 with the #14 pick....FAIL. Maybe the only sadder similar story close to his would be Rams Jason Smith which is real bad. CW did not start nor play much at all his rookie 2008 season. His best season was 2009 when he was moved to ORT post to accommodate Orlando Pace. CW started 16 games @ both OT post.

In 2010 CW went into TC & handed the OLT post and failed to keep it & ended up inserted to the starting OLG post. CW did see some action due to injury @ OLT & started 13 games. In 2011 once again CW had to fight for a starting post and ended up back @ OLG but lost it and ended up through injury starting @ ORT. CW started 9 games. In 2012 CW went into TC as starter but was beat out & dropped off the game day roster in the first game and was released a few weeks later.

to summarize CW NFL career...he has never won a bonified starting position in five training camps & preseasons. It would be fair to say that CW's starts came by injury, retirement or players being released. CW starts are mostly by default. CW has 7 starts @ OLT, 11 starts @ ORT and 20 starts @ OLG. Its would be fair to say CW has failed @ being a average starting or back up OT(left or right) in the NFL. The only position that CW has played that has kept him in the NFL @ this point in time is @ OG, but he has never been a consistent average OG either.

In conclusion CW is very lucky that Paul Boudreau's hobby is tinkering and refurbishing NFL OL'er "Blems"! If CW does win the starting post @ OLG it will be due to the talent of Boudreau. The evidence flashed before us late last yr by CW provides this poster with very high hopes. The big task ahead for CW shortly is to come into camp and finally shine, & secure the OLG post! Or this will be his last dance he is invited too.
