Rams ship former All-Pro DE Quinn to Dolphins
6557.jpg

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Dolphins have acquired DE Robert Quinn from the Rams.

The Rams are getting back a fourth-rounder in April's draft while the two sides are also exchanging sixth-round picks. Quinn was a first-team All-Pro in 2013 and amassed a whopping 40 sacks between 2012-2014. He missed 15 games in 2015 and 2016 but played in all 16 last season, notching 8.5 sacks as a stand-up 3-4 linebacker. He'll go back to his traditional 4-3 end spot in Miami, joining Cameron Wake and 2017 first-rounder Charles Harris. Quinn, 28 in May, is signed through 2019. The move saves the Rams a much-needed $11.4 million against the cap but creates a gaping edge-rusher hole.

Nah, he's been a one trick pony and he can't do that anymore..........this was inevitable.

He plays well and IMO will step in and be fine.

I'm not so sure about this move. Anything below a 3rd leaves me disappointed.

It's a good trade for the Rams and I hate to say it because I like Quinn but the defense won't miss him.

Last year Quinn was pretty easily handled by every quality opponent.

He has one move, and it doesn't work since he is slower from the surgery. It's not his fault, it just happened.

I think this is for the best. Sad to see one of my favorite players of recent memory go but at the same time he isn’t the same player he was and it’s saving us a lot of money. We need to prioritize for the future (Donald, Joyner, Gurley, etc)

Does this mean that Barwin is now safe at LOLB and that we will concentrate on a pass rusher at Quinn's ROLB ? I'm still assuming we'll be hunting for a run defending ILB in either free agency or the draft.

So we've traded Quinn and his $12 million cap hit, our 4th round pick in 2018, our 6th round pick in 2018 and a conditional 3rd in 2019 for Marcus Peters, Miami's 4th in 2018, Miami's 6th in 2018 and KC's 6th in 2018.

Conditional 3rd? Thought it was a 2nd in 2019.

Depends on what you read and we won't know officially until the 14th or so. I've read 2nd and I've read a 3rd with conditions to go to a 2nd or a 4th. We'll see in a few weeks either way it's still a great off season so far.

I'm expecting a 4th round pick at best. At least the trade will open up a lot of cap space for Donald, Joyner, and Watkins.

Say what you will, but Robert Quinn is worth more than we gained in return.
And I am not convinced at all that it makes us better this year.
I understand it, but this wasnt about performance, this was about our cap space.
Quinn is under 30, and its not a fluke that as he recovered from surgery he became more and more like his old self.
His "1 move" has been effective.

If you ever met Rob Quinn, you would know there isnt a better, kinder guy on the team. I have seen him give away every scrap he could take from his uniform to young kids after games on multiple occaisions.

Good luck in Miami, Black Lightning.

Marcus Peters - DB - Rams
Rams acquired CB Marcus Peters from the Chiefs in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round pick and 2019 second-round pick.

It took three days, but we finally know what the Chiefs are getting in exchange for their (former) 25-year-old No. 1 corner. The Chiefs are also sending a sixth-rounder L.A.'s way. The move will become official on the first day of the new league year (March 14). It's not a complete giveaway, but it's a no-brainer price for the Rams, who are getting a proven high-level talent at the NFL level instead of taking two draft dart throws. A difficult personality, Peters had worn out his welcome in Kansas City but continued to perform as one of the league's better corners in 2017. He arrives in Los Angeles as the Rams' clear-cut No. 1. The move all but confirms the Rams will allow Trumaine Johnson to walk in free agency. Peters is technically headed into the final year of his rookie contract, but the Rams will undoubtedly exercise his fifth-year team option for 2019.
