I have unstickied the thread. Until something new and substantial happens, I really don't see much reason to keep it up top.
But.

But.

That thing happened.

You know, the thing that may or may not have implications for something?

I read an article by some Claiborne guy saying he thinks attendence will be at 20,000 in STL this year. I don't know if that's actually possible but it would be heartbreaking.

It's probably been said a dozen times in this thread (I haven't checked), but that would also be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Stir up some rumors by buying some land in LA, say nothing about it, cause support to plummet, and then claim there's not enough support to stay.

Close.... He almost said nothing about it, but he did inform the league ;)

You're talking about Mike Claiborne. He used to have a radio show that covered everything that had to do with St. Louis sports like Karraker does now but he is currently on the Cardinals Radio Network team. He's a pretty good listen.

Meh, I can't see there not being more than 20k fans in the stands this year.... makes no sense. Probably a dip from last year but nothing crazy like I'd bet.

My guess is most games have 40-50K fans, but a lot might be away teams. Win a few games and people will come.
I could see that for the attendance which is tickets sold by any means. The actual gate may be much lower without some positive news or a winning record. It doesn't benefit anyone if the numbers are low. Kroenke needs them passable so he can make a case to leave if it's too low it will because of relocation and for St Louis it also needs to be decent for a chance at an expansion team if the Rams leave.

Luckily for Kroenke (if this is his stategy)... the NFL is full of naive, stupid men who could never see through that like us extremely intelligent Rams fans of ROD!

This won't be a popular opinion around here, but I don't think Kroenke is going to be stopped, even by a non-vote on the part of the owners.

The move to LA will triple the value of his team. What would a rich guy do for that much money? Just about anything.

The NFL can leverage most owners by withholding the $250 million grant for the stadium. But in Stan's case and LA in particular the value increase on the team more than compensates for paying out of pocket in the event him and the league are at odds.

Translation for STL fans is stopping the Rams is probably impossible. But there is a good side to showing strong attendance and that is the NFL will ensure you get a replacement team given the stadium progress and push. I understand this thing has a ways to go, but I just think when push comes to shove we are talking about stopping a billionaire from doing what he wants, which is adding significant value to his holdings.

And that is like standing in front of a rolling freight train, IMO. The press just hasn't fully realized that yet.
