QBs play bad when they're scared. They get scared when there's a good pass rush, even if there aren't sacks. They get scared of a good pass rush because they think they might get sacked. If we aren't sacking QBs, there's nothing to be scared of. Non-scared QBs play to their ability. That's bad for us.12 PPG, 199 YPG pass against, 6.4 YPA, 73.3 passer rating against, numerous holding and false start penalties against ...
Sacks are overrated, dude. Philip Rivers could only put up 23 points on us minus two CB's. Not getting your point.
If teams start playing us normal, because they don't have to fear the pass rush, because we aren't sacking the QB, then our defensive stats like points allowed will get worse.
We need to sack the QB with enough regularity to cause fear of our pass rush. So far that hasn't been happening. Soon teams will stop calling super short passes (the Chargers started to go deeper in the second half, not all the time, but they started to) and it will be back to business as usual.
