I'm willing to bet I was the biggest TA fan the year we drafted him. TA is a perfect example of not transitioning from the college game to the pros. I give him kudos for not being a punk and for accepting a lackluster role in 2017 without whining. I wish him the best and hope he shines like the star he is.

Love me some Tavon and it was eventual we were going to move on at some time. Somebody has to produce in Dallas and I hope he turns it up over there while they are mediocre as a team. Good luck to him.

Man. The highlights show his crazy freaky speed and directional change.
I still for the life of me cannot figure out why he didn't break so many more big plays and long TD's.
There is not one of us on this board, or even 3 of us at the same time who could tackle him in space. We may not even be able to get two hand touches on him. He's got electrifying speed and moves.

I don't understand how TA could not excel in last year's offense. And, what was his issue with all the punt catching fumbles. I just don't get it. Many times he seemed like a diamond, but lately mostly cubic zirconia.

I've heard he can't run routes...why not? I mean what was the problem.

I really liked TA and was hoping it would come together for him with the Rams this coming season. Really upset when I saw the trade. And more upset watching them highlights!

What an enigmatic player. After watching the whole highlight reel, it boggles the mind how this guy hasn’t had a more successful career.

Interesting to hear the genuine excitement from Jerry Jones and Jason garrett when they called TA. I do think his best position is as a RB and gadget player, not as a wr.

Also— TA definitely plays better on turf. IMHO his best game last year was at Dallas. If he can get over the yips on punt returns, maybe TA could come back with a decent season in 2018.

That would be due to his offseason wrist injury and surgery, which despite being well documented and brought up in every Tavon conversation, seems to be the most easily forgotten injury ever lol.

All the best Tavon in Dallas - I truly hope that you get a shot at being the great player you can be down there. I'm sure if it wasn't for that wrist injury last year then he would have exploded for us, but as the true team player and professional that he is - he never once moaned about other WRs getting more snaps, losing the PR gig - he just kept working and kept giving 100% for the Rams.

A true gent in horns.

Believe me....

if I had any inclination to "piss all over this thread" I could have done a lot worse than that.

Believe me, I used a different word.
Urinate is another way to put it.

Its an appreciation thread.
Feel free to start a thread dedicated to how great you are or how bad Tavon is or whatever you feel like, but using this thread as a platform to throw shade at a good dude isnt a great look.

This trade breaks my heart. I understand it but it will be tough to see him in a Dallas jersey. They'e getting a great role player and electrifying returner. But I hope they understand his limitations in the passing game.

He tried his best here. I had hoped he would be that explosive player he was in college. But unfortunately, he was shackled by our lack of offensive coaches who had no idea how to use him. As scary as it sounds, Schottenheimer did the best w/ him....and he (Schotty) was clueless when it came to offense. And when he finally did get someone who understood modern offense, he was too banged up to make a difference. Good luck Tavon.

Once Tavon lost his role as punt returner the writing was on the wall. I really admire Tavon for how he handled the diminished role and think he still has something to offer as a situational RB /slot receiver Just not as a #1-3 receiver. I hope he does well in Dallas.

I wish him the best of luck. Really wish he would have had a good offensive coaching staff when he came in, one that could have taught him how to run routes and to truly be a WR in the NFL. By the time he got to play under such a staff, he had the bad luck of coming in with his wrist injury and then getting a hammy and eventually getting lost in the fray. I don't know how good his career would have been with a competent offensive coaching staff from the time he came into the league, but I'm sure it could have been better and more consistent.

Good luck, Tavon, except when you play the Rams of course ;)

Tavon is a controversial player for us and it has absolutely nothing to do with me.
I actually don't blame Tavon for being Tavon,
but the dude's not a victim he's a multi-millionaire.
I actually wouldn't be surprised and would like to see him do well in Dallas but I think an "appreciation thread" is a little over-the-top personally for a player that was very disappointing in his production.

But I do appreciate that one game.
That WAS pretty good.

It was a great game. As for the rest, we can disagree, I don't mind.

Like stated in the Tavon trade thread 'I'll miss these Tavon Austin threads". It's a little ironic that he goes to play for Scott Linehan. It be interesting to see how they get him 12 touches a game.

I will miss watching him in horns. He was blur on many plays. Just fun to watch.

I agree with Soul Surfer... this thread to me seems to be kind of... I'm not sure of the right word...

But anyways good luck Tavon.

Hope tavon finds his role, he worked hard and deserves it !

Although he underperformed, he still made a lot of big plays and scored a decent amount of touchdowns

For a couple seasons he was one of the best punt returners in the league, he should be able to get back to that.

He had a badly injured wrist and he's not the quickest learner, so he needs the reps.

He was incredibly game to keep playing with that wrist and much like Legatron's back, it just couldn't hold up and he started losing punts.

Have you ever caught a punt kicked over 40 yards? Hits the hands like a cannonball. I can't imagine how hard it would be to secure a punt with a broken/damaged wrist.

As for routes, I don't fault anyone for not being developed on offense under Fisher.

And he wasn't able to get into the offense or get the coaching he needed because he couldn't get the reps.

He may still prove to be valuable. We'll see.
