You're not understanding.

If you did exactly what you suggested, you would be in violation of your contract.
It would be like you retired.
You would not have gotten paid, You would not be a free agent to sign elsewhere ... in 2025 ... 2026 ... 2027.

Your NFL career would be over unless the Rams released you ... Which they would NOT be obligated to do.
If I was experiencing "performance issues" while waiting on my Viagra shipment, and my wife started "trying out" other guys, I would leave and never come back.
But that's just me.

He must toss and turn at night regretting playing around with that knuckle-ball kick off. Probably assumes that ruined his timing.

I'm one who didn't want them to give up on Karty. But right now Mevis is clearly the better kicker. It was the right move for the team. I hope Karty clears waivers and they can bring him back for the practice squad. Work on his kicking to find what caused him to regress.

I like the new guy, what's his name........Mevis. He kicks the ball almost straight. His kicks haven't slid much right or left. Unfortunately, Kardy was all over the place with his kicks.

I bet Kardy eventually gets his head and kicks straight and is on another NFL team.

It reminds me of the old school straight on kickers watching him. It looks funny seeing it today.

I get that it's not that way but for some reason watching him kick just looks different. :laugh1:

I hope Karty can bounce back. I have nothing against Mevis, but he's had bad years in college as well.

I don't think we have an answer yet, so I hope Karty
Still holding that missed 26 yarder against Auburn against him?

Why are we looking at his college years rather than his UFL time?
Because he had one fantastic year in college out of three. The others, he was either average or well-below.

Believe me, I'd love to see Mevis be our kicker for the next few years, but it would be naive to expect him to continue this when he really hasn't been tested as of yet and has a record of not doing well in some years.

I get that but his UFL years were AFTER college. Usually, what comes later take precedence because he could have improved.

I'm holding the three seasons where he was either 85% or below against him.

I've seen more of Mevis than a lot of you have. He's a good kicker with a great leg, but he's had inconsistencies himself. I'm not as confident to think that he's the answer when he hasn't proven shit in the NFL other than two kicks and the extra points.

Is he better than Karty right now? Absolutely. Does that mean he'll be better than Karty in the future? We'll have to see, but when you judge his college tape against Karty's rookie NFL tape, I'm not as confident as to say that he'll be better in the future.

UFL tape was good, I'll admit that, but so was Karty's rookie year, and we're not judging based on that.

Overall, I get why @Selassie I said kickers are fucking voodoo.

ya'll know what's going to happen this week vs. Carolina now, right?

and no, I'm not going to say it and have to shoulder the blame

That's because we have more recent bad tape for Karty. If Mevis went bad some time in the future we'd judge him on that. But at the moment, he's had good tape in the UFL and that's the most recent, relevant thing to judge on.

So when we were in Nashville for the Rams Fans meet up at the Draft Kings bar, I ran into a guy who introduced me to Kartys father. Nice man, firm handshake, enjoying being in the moment with fans all around him. The guy, don't know who he was, who introduced me to Kartys dad said he believed Karty was bound for the pro bowl!

If I ever meet that guy again remind me to not take any advice from him...on anything!
