I would have told them to release me, because I wasn't coming back.
YOU would have then been suspended ... without pay ... and still NOT a free agent

Plus, your team could force you to pay back some of your rookie contract signing bonus.

And, A LOT OF PEOPLE would mock you. So ... Great Strategy!

That's just how I am personally. Id rather do something else than be somewhere I'm not wanted.
Karty will get the chance next year on another team regardless.

Well, keep in mind Karty is from California, but I absolutely agree, if I am Karty I move on. I also believe the Rams have found their kicker of the present & the future.

That's the thing, he was wanted. They were loyal to him, kept getting him his checks. On a PS he'll make a fraction of what he was making. And next year? He'll have to make a roster in order to get paid

You're not understanding.

If you did exactly what you suggested, you would be in violation of your contract.
It would be like you retired.
You would not have gotten paid, You would not be a free agent to sign elsewhere ... in 2025 ... 2026 ... 2027.

Your NFL career would be over unless the Rams released you ... Which they would NOT be obligated to do.

Im sorry but, it was too easy for him to loose it. I could never trust it wouldnt happen again

Kickers go through the Yips every now and then, normally early in their career before they learn how to self manage at the professional level. Karty most likely will get himself straightened out, even if he has to work with a kicking specialist. He has a big leg, and, if he gets back in the groove, he should resurface on an NFL franchise - perhaps even ours.

I'm stoked. I prefer the thicker kicker. I'm just hoping he can use that frame to lay out a returner at some point. That will be amazing.

I hope Karty can bounce back. I have nothing against Mevis, but he's had bad years in college as well.

I don't think we have an answer yet, so I hope Karty signs with our practice squad. If not, I wish him well in his next opportunity, so long as it doesn't affect our team.

Why are we looking at his college years rather than his UFL time?

I like the new guy, what's his name........Mevis. He kicks the ball almost straight. His kicks haven't slid much right or left. Unfortunately, Kardy was all over the place with his kicks.

I bet Kardy eventually gets his head and kicks straight and is on another NFL team.
Bruce Gossett style.

PHILLY’s Kicker just missed an extra point.

Bears 10 - Philly 9

The Rams have been solid with extra points with the Thicker Kicker. He has proven to be consistent.

I really haven’t watched him much or noticed his set up ? On his 50 yard field goal he got through it quick. It almost seemed he takes only like 2 1/2 steps back.He hit it pretty good,SO that’s my take his kicking FG’s.
