He reminds me of Hopkins.
I really liked him...too bad he didn't pan out

I really hated the Brycen Hopkins pick. I don't hate this pick for the same reasons I hated the Hopkins pick (Hopkins was soft and not physical; Klare clearly worked on his blocking at Ohio State.). Hopkins was force-fed at Purdue; Klare didn't have many receptions at Ohio State.

I don't hate the player; I just don't see the need when we already have a group of four tight ends. Yes, Davis and Parkinson are free agents at the end of the year, but Higbee just signed a two-year deal, you still have Ferguson, and Davis could easily come cheap.

I realize people are on edge and that this was unexpected, but if you haven't seen Klare play, you should take a bead and watch him. He's a dynamic athlete. Rare quickness and acceleration for his size. He has the potential to be one of the best route runners in the NFL at TE. Runs hard after the catch too. The big issue with Klare is dropped passes. He needs to improve his hands and ball tracking. But the man can create separation. And he's a competent blocker. Huge potential here.
I'll also note that if there's one thing I look for with WRs and TEs, it's separation quickness. I think the athletes in the NFL are too good for guys to just run past. You have to be able to win with route running and change of direction. Klare has the capability to do that. The drops concern me. I wasn't sure how the Rams would feel about him because of the drops. But if you can clean those up and polish his game up, this dude could be the next Zach Ertz.

Agreed. He needs work on the Juggs machine, but I could see a world where he's an Ertz or a Kelce-lite.

I think McVay is pivoting. He wants to be ahead of the rest of the league. He's pivoting away from 11 personnel and towards more emphasis on TE mismatches. He sees an advantage there as defenses have moved towards taking away the deep ball and putting more DBs and smaller LBs on the field. That's my speculation.

PFF lists only 2 drops this year.

I get that. I totally understand where he'd be coming from. I get why he'd want Klare; he's an exceptionally talented tight end.

I just question the ultimate fit with Higbee signing a two-year-deal and Allen possibly coming cheap. It's why I think Parkinson could end up being dealt; we'd still have four exceptional tight ends, even losing Parkinson.

That's the reason why I see this pick being made.

I do like Klare, he's a quality threat over the middle. Would have preferred a wideout but that TE room is gonna be a competitive pressure cooker for those boys this year.
Agreed, he's go talent, I'll throw my 2cents in since I could tell by your post you wanted to know..lol.

What about WR Malachi Fields from Notre Dame? 6'4" and 218 lbs, should be able to fight for contested throws and block some down field.

Possibly Snead and McVay are building a what if Apocalypse happens team of giants to protect them if LA falls into chaos.

I agree.
I see these physical WRs and LBs being drafted by other teams and I start to get concerned that the Rams might be a little undersized.

But big athletic TEs get me thinking we can get some good mismatches happening with 13 personnel.
