Should I just pull up the Chris Paul Jr. draft thread, see how many people here thought that he was going to be something special, a starter even? I think I should:

https://ramsondemand.com/threads/5th-rd-pick-172-chris-paul-jr-lb-ole-miss.72757/

Yeah. You wonder why I'm pissed now? It's because a lot of the people who are saying this move is great and all, you were in that thread, singing his praises, and now you're slamming the people who didn't like this personally now, just because he's not on the team and someone like Reeder is.

I expected better, I honestly did. I'm allowed to be pissed. Others are allowed to be pissed. It'll wear off with winning, you and I both know it, but we're allowed to be pissed at first glance, are we not?

The only people getting upset are those who refuse to realise that the Rams organisation knows more about the player than any of us ever will.

The draft was four months ago. Over those four months, the coaching team and other decision makers will have assessed Paul, just the same as everybody else. They have decided he isn't worth keeping. That's all that matters.
Not only that, the entire league didnt want him so he's on a PS where again, ANY team can poach him

Pissed why? Because you over valued a player?
Good grief.

I'm pissed that you are attacking me because I'm expressing my emotions. The fucking horror. How dare I?

And you were one of the people in that thread. Congrats, dieter. I thought you were better than that. Clearly I was fucking mistaken.

The degree of unhinged you have going here is something I wish you'd step back and reflect on.

Because this ain't even a molehill.

Right?
Youngest team in the league where seemingly every pick in the last 2 years was a hit but now its all over because of a fan crush on player who the Rams see differently. Good grief
Responding only to the age comment in your post, I was looking at average ages by team a bit ago and we were 24th. GB has been #1 for a couple seasons I believe.
I found the stat very surprising....Damm Stafford, Jimmy G and Big Rob

As far as the Pooh talk, you guys are right on IMO. Much ado about nothing.

EDIT: Here is the article, I had to relook myself.
P.S I think the drafting of older and more proven rookies with leadership qualities has affected our present ranking and I for one love the leadership these older rookies are bringing to the team.

Attacking you? Huh? Who's attacking who?
Good grief, you're off the rails because a player you had a crush on got cut.
It doesnt matter who I like as a prospect, I only care about the players who the Rams put on the field on Sundays. That's their role.
My role? Just a fan

I for one had hopes he would do better and make the squad. I bet most of us did.

For the last fucking time, I was not initially upset at Paul being released just because I liked him (if you'll go back, you'll notice that I liked Dolac being picked up just as much). I'm upset at him being released and overall mediocre at best players like Reeder and Murchison sticking for fate knows how long (and only fate knows why) on our roster, even though they've proven nothing on the field and could be replaced by better players on our roster and not on our roster in a New York heartbeat, that it was a complete and total waste of not one, but three draft selections in what is now a five-man draft.

If you think that I'm acting this way because I had a draft crush on him, you're mistaken. If you think I have a hate-boner (not that I can have a boner) for Reeder, you're also mistaken. It's because want the best players on the 53 as much as you. I want the Rams to win a Super Bowl as much as anyone here. The fact that Reeder is one minor injury away from starting on defense makes it not the best 53. The fact that Murchison could start in Cheetah packages makes it not the best 53.

That's my concern. I'm just as much of a homer as anyone here, but I'm allowed to have concerns, right?

Emotions are " that sucked, I really liked that guy". Of course emotions can also cause somebody to over react......"let's not pretend this isn't a big loss".

No, a big loss is Stafford going down. Or Adams. Or Verse. Or about 30 players before we even approach Pooh Paul.

Of course many wanted him to make the team, as depth or as a starter. But he didn't. Because he didn't impress enough people like maybe his position coach, the DC, the head coach and the GM.

I'm fine with that because (to misquote Meatloaf) 5 out of 6 ain't bad!!!

Fair. That's a fair point, and thank you for saying that.

As one or two of us have said, it sounded like McVay and the coaches had moved on when he said he wished Paul all the best during his press conference. It’s time for us to move on too though no doubt we will all be intrigued to see if he ends up starting and playing well somewhere

Why?

You're an old pro here.. you know Reeder's Landman's backup and Paul would be the 3rd stringer at the other position.. right?

It's just so weird.. instead of being excited the Rams have picked up two promising off-ball LBs in Speights and Dolac.. people get obsessed by their whipping boys.

I'm not Reeder "fan" or anything.. I just look objectively at what he is.. and the fact we KNOW what he is, warts and all. Paul? Everyone is angsty over a guy because he was decent in college?

Look.. if Paul had been plucked onto a 53.. I would be more inclined to question the decision.

He wasn't.. he passed through waivers... that means all the other teams in the league decided HE ISN'T WORTH A ROSTER SPOT RIGHT NOW.

Reeder? He probably wouldn't get claimed either.. but he'd be more likely to be signed by someone caught in an injury crunch at the position because he knows the job.

People.... come on.

I love that the "small detail" of signed to the practice squad instead of signed to the 53-man Roster gets overlooked here. SMH

Signing Reeder isn't signing a starter in your example. It's throwing a prayer out there. He's replaceable like every other year. Too bad he wasn't. Onwards we go!

So he went unclaimed and the Rams still didn't sign him back. And remember the Rams generally pay top dollar for players they want on their practice squad so they usually win in a bidding war. So this, along with McVay's comments yesterday, tells me they did not like something about him. This just smells like that classic "player got the coach speak as they politely threw him out the door" treatment that seems to happen once or twice a season.

If that's the case I'm fine with losing Pooh. If he's not a fit he's not a fit. Whether it's locker room or physical doesn't matter.
100% agree.

I akin this to Ernest Jones. Something is not fit and the Rams moved on.

Hey what about Stafford's back? I am unclear because a huge thread was dedicated to him.
