I think it's more likely this move was made to bolster the position - not to weaken it by removing a piece that was our biggest scoring threat of the group. A restructure I could see. I just don't see them parting with Parks after he finally justified his contract.
True but I am just saying if they draft Sadiq then I could see them trading Parkinson but only if they draft Sadiq

Well, that's exactly what I said. After re-signing Higbee, the TE room is still quite inexpensive, especially with Park's contract in its last year, he'll likely be extended. All that said, none of these deals would prevent the Rams from drafting a Sidiq if they thought he was the difference maker they desire, or adding another TE that they like.

By-the-way, if you are not a Seinfeld fan, I can limit my references to an occasional David Puddy and Newman.
I liked Seinfeld just fine. I couldn't stand listening to George's parents and would change the channel any time they were on the show. Just a bunch of loud bitching and whining. Life's too short for that shit.

Fergs was the best blocking TE we had last year.
I don't have the stats in front of me but also, he wasn't doing it in-line! He was offset, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think he took many or any snaps attached to the OT. Blocking from there, the angles and the quality of player you're blocking (DE's, LBs) is far more difficult than blocking offset or detached from the line and that's not including pass-set blocking or chipping along with run blocking.

I've argued this with WR but best to think of F and Y as two separate positions that hold the title "tight end." Yes, there can be some interchangeability but that's more the exception and not the rule.

And from what I remember, Fergy's blocking was atrocious for the first 1-3 games he was out there but surprisingly he started putting some very good reps shortly thereafter.

Nothing would surprise me
Higbee only had a down 2025 season because he was recuperating from that devastating injury in '24. He's still only 33 years old and if he's back to form and Ferguson takes the big step forward that they seem to expect, Parks could be the #3 guy

Ah. I was referring to the idea of Parks being traded and thought you were just saying that we'd get more than a 6th or 7th or whatever was bandied about in the previous post.

Yeah, there's a lot of sub-conversations going on
I'm not advocating trading him, my guess is that he's extended, they love their TE room as is and wont make any other major additions.
That said, I wouldnt be surprised if he was traded either....

Yeah... I think I'd lean toward them likely extending him. A lot of apples to drop in the next couple months. I don't expect doing anything with his contract is a huge priority unless it is an extension that frees up more money. But I don't see him going anywhere.

It's true that Parkinson handled the bulk of the inline duties, but Fergs got his share.

We can't predict unjuries but history shows Higz has trouble staying available. 4mil for a TE with his ability is more than fair. In 13 you can rate them 1 -3 how ever you want but they are all on the field. If he stays healty it is a good deal. I think the number already reflects the risk.
This will possibly take him to the end of his career as a Ram and our top TE in franchise history and Super Bowl winner
Congrats & Stay Healthy 89

DZ, you're a prince, this is my jam. What's the position designation at the top "13, 14, 15, etc..." I assumed personnel but not sure now.

Maybe my supposition on Fergy isn't quite right as to one reason they brought Higbee back and what his role will be (maybe he will play for more Y than I anticipated in his career).

Also, this helps with another supposition I had which was how much out wide he can play (or at X). Fergy's our big plodding X. What we most likely need and want is the traditional X for this offense (big guy but not too big who has agility to run in breakers all day and still beat man with either speed or route running).
