OK... better late than never. LOL
This is something that most of you have probably never even herd of because it's a Hawaiian thing. But you can get it yourself immediately through Amazon.

Back in The 808 I think I first experienced this taste on some dehydrated plums. Over there you can find a whole isle of dehydrated fruit and other odd cracker like stuff in most convenience stores and grocery stores... like you have a candy isle here on the Mainland. You can't find any of that stuff over here though... but you can get most of it on Amazon too but the prices are jacked up compared to if you were buying it in the islands. I pay the extra money and order that stuff through Amazon too.

Anyway... this is Li Hing Mui powder. The flavor is hard to describe because it doesn't taste like ANYTHING else.

Like I said, I first discovered it when I got a bag of dehydrated plums covered in it. After that, I was addicted and realized that you could get it on other things too. It's my favorite flavor to get on Shave Ice for example.

I use it now on most of my raw fresh fruit. In fact, I just used it on a bowl of fresh pineapple I got at Publix (it reminded me to post this). I use a very generous amount on fresh fruit. People also put it on candy (gummy bears and hard candy) and in fruit juices and adult cocktails. If you're fortunate enough to find a real Shave Ice vendor here on the Mainland you're very lucky... but unfortunately, I HIGHLY doubt they offer Li Hing Mui as a flavor option which is a crime.

I find myself craving this constantly. I'm completely addicted.

I like almost all sauces. One that I liked that is somewhat expensive but I love the taste: Tiger Sauce. Tiger sauce is a sweet-hot sauce, good on almost all meats.

Another sauce my Great Grandpa used to make himself was homemade mint sauce. I also love gravy and so it was a rough choice for me when we had a beef roast. Mint sauce is like a marinade and not a gravy.

My latest is trying the hot sauces by Heatonist which is what they use on the show Hot Ones if you've ever watched that show. My personal favorite is the Las Calientes sauce that they use a lot on that show. It's my favorite verde sauce for sure. Also love their classic hot sauces. I'm going to step up the heat and try something a bit hotter next but haven't decided what yet.

As for sushi, spicy mayo is always a must on almost any sushi I ever get. I love spicy mayo.

I just discovered this and have been putting it on damn near everything I eat. The fact that they make a bottle this big ... I need to find it!

I’ve had the Franks red hot. How is the sweet chili? Is it like as dry and with a bit of heat like sriracha or a bit sweeter?

Much sweeter.

It will burn fast at high temps like on the grill. Use care with that.

Hey! Look what I found on my shelf with my Asian seasonings and spices. Guess I just didn't recognize the name of it.

I’m not going to Google “Asia Trans”.
Ha! Yeah... I noticed that too. Pretty funny. Also interesting that I bought it as an ingredient for a special Satay I was making for a Thai themed party I was catering. Didn't even think about it at the time.

Not sure which food thread this belongs in but this will do.
First of all, I absolutely abhor "convenience" products, but my wife brought this home one day from Trader Joe's and I absolutely love it.

Little frozen crushed garlic cubes. Defrosts in about a minute at room temp. (I have the ginger also)
Incredible for marinades and dont have to use store bought garbage caesar dressing when can make from scratch in less than a minute

I make my own by putting a shit ton of peeled garlic cloves in the food processor. Then I put a bunch into a gallon size freezer ziplock bag. The amount is enough when you can put the bag on the counter and flatten it out so the garlic fills the bag completely from corner to corner and it is about an eighth of an inch thick. Put it in the freezer on a flat surface and freeze it. Break off pieces as you need them for cooking. That's why you keep it at an eighth of an inch thick.

If you don't like peeling garlic... just buy the already peeled cloves.

Already peeled loses its flavor, the jarred stuff is gross.
I have the fresh stuff around, there's nothing like it.
This stuff is a great substitute, and believe me, I turn my nose up at anything convenience like
I do all the cooking at my house so its a great have. Can whip up guacamole , make caesar dressing or fried rice with the leftover white rice in the frig in minutes without any of the cleanup

I do all the cooking in mine too.

I'm with you... I just peel my own because it definitely tastes better. It freezes amazing... it's just like it was never frozen.

I love a good mustard, and some horseradish but hot sauces reign supreme in our household. Here's some in our current rotation.

I'm really loving the chili infused oils like your 1st pic these days.

Once my pepper plants give me some peps... I'm gonna make some homemade. That stuff goes great with everything and you can even add it to other sauces and make them 10 times better.
