A great hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, or other condiments can take a dish from good to great.

We go through quite a bit Fill-a sauce.
My kids love it.

Before it became available in stores I use to make it.
I came up with a very good copy cat recipe for it.


I don’t care for the canes sauce. To me it just tastes like mayo with tons of seasoning salt.

I had this the other day and thought it was amazing with turkey. I know I can make it myself, but it's tempting.

I made some mushroom ketchup from a recipe from the 1700's.
Took awhile and kitchen smelled like gym socks while they were cooking down.
I wouldn't say it was great.
But it was ok.

It had to taste better, than the spoiled meat they would have paired it with.

I would assume looking for any help back in the day.
The cookbook is funny because, obviously no temps as cooking with fire or timers.
So, instructions are usually along the lines of...."add thyme until seasoned properly" & "place pot over satisfactory heat" & "cook until done".....I can't argue with any of those instructions.

I have to have the Sriracha on most things. I also mix it with Ketchup for fries, and mayonnaise and pickles for thousand island dressing.

This one just has a good flavor. I use it in a lot of dishes or as a dipping sauce when I'm feeling lazy.

This is something that most of you have probably never even herd of because it's a Hawaiian thing. But you can get it yourself immediately through Amazon.

Back in The 808 I think I first experienced this taste on some dehydrated plums. Over there you can find a whole isle of dehydrated fruit and other odd cracker like stuff in most convenience stores and grocery stores... like you have a candy isle here on the Mainland. You can't find any of that stuff over here though... but you can get most of it on Amazon too but the prices are jacked up compared to if you were buying it in the islands. I pay the extra money and order that stuff through Amazon too.

Anyway... this is Li Hing Mui powder. The flavor is hard to describe because it doesn't taste like ANYTHING else.

Like I said, I first discovered it when I got a bag of dehydrated plums covered in it. After that, I was addicted and realized that you could get it on other things too. It's my favorite flavor to get on Shave Ice for example.

I use it now on most of my raw fresh fruit. In fact, I just used it on a bowl of fresh pineapple I got at Publix (it reminded me to post this). I use a very generous amount on fresh fruit. People also put it on candy (gummy bears and hard candy) and in fruit juices and adult cocktails. If you're fortunate enough to find a real Shave Ice vendor here on the Mainland you're very lucky... but unfortunately, I HIGHLY doubt they offer Li Hing Mui as a flavor option which is a crime.

I find myself craving this constantly. I'm completely addicted.
