I would have preferred they resigned Watkins and lost the comp pick and retained their first instead of dealing for Cooks.

I'd like to see them put pen on paper and actually resign some of their pending FAs. Next spring they have 3 free agent lineman (the other two being old as dirt) plus Joyner, Donald and Cooks who will require massive money to resign.

Yes, they have a better shot at winning a Bowl, but I do not want a Bowl or bust Dallas Cowboys team that flames out after a year or two. Sustainability is important, so are value picks in the draft. Scouting also matters. Hopefully they win a bowl and lock these guys up, but seems like someone has to go.

As I said, they better find a couple future starters in rounds 3 and 4.

Philosophical differences. I like the “all in” while you have the window way of team management. One title every 10 years would be A OK with me.

This thread has really confused me. People were willing to trade 2 firsts for OBJ but this for Cooks is too much. Both are on the last year of their rookie contract but Cooks isn’t going to cost as much to resign. Cooks is exactly what people have said we needed in this off season at the WR position. People were confident before any trade for OBJ we’d sign an extension, now people are upset we did this trade and an extension isn’t done.

I love this move and have faith in the front office.

Les Snead has his work cut out for him

He's also from Stockton, can never have too many players from Stockton.

"Right on. Stockton, Turlock. Same thing, Right?"

My superficial, non-analytical, initial gut reaction is that:
Not real excited that the Rams just got a guy that Sean Peyton with Drew Brees got rid of who was also a guy that Bel'sheet with Brady got rid of.

Both got rid of him purely for cap reasons.

He's balled out everywhere he played.

Couple things on #Rams Brandin Cooks trade: Sean McVay has advocated him for a couple years (he got his wish). Cooks is 24 - essentially same age as Calvin Ridley. And he's 1 of 2 receivers in NFL with 3 straight 1000-yard and 7 TD seasons. The other is Antonio Brown

documented production, fits the role, very young and I think if the Rams want him he will resign based on Socal home and same agent as Goff

Let's just hope too many cooks don't spoil the Goff.

homer....let's see if this staff can develop him now

Plus, It's not effectively a prove it deal. Watkins was injury prone coming to us. I think Snead/Demoff try to sign this guy to a deal early, where they wouldn't do that with Watkins last year...

It may be like the Eagles did with Alshon Jeffrey.

I also think that Les 'big balls' Snead will not be averse to trading back into the 2nd or 3rd rd in the draft if a player he covets falls a little either. I don't think for one minute he has finished wheeling and dealing with this draft.

What makes you think that? I hope you're right but Cooks has been the more productive player.

I could absolutely see Les moving the third and a couple of the fourths to move up into the second if an edge rusher starts to slide.

in the 3rd and 4th and need (IMO) to find two future starting O-linemen who can backup next year more effectively than their backups last year and a starting linebacker.
