I don't think it's allowed for Kroenke to own a stadium played in by other NFL teams so, if the bylaws have any meaning, that one probably can't happen.

I've always thought Carson was a bluff, still do. I think the Rams are most likely moving to L.A. starting with the 2016 season, but we shall see...
Well, I guess by-laws might get broken one way or the other... yes, we'll see...

Howdy folks. for those of you who don't already know, I live just 4 blocks from the proposed Carson stadium site. I've lived here 62 years., so I know firsthand the history of the site. Its a former landfill and industrial toxic waste site. I have a big stake in a stadium being built. right now mine and my neighborhoods property value is way below what it should be, due to our nearness to the landfill. and if a stadium gets built, it most certainly would go up. But I and my neighbors have been through this before, with a mall, a theatre complex, and a Wal-Mart. All have been nixed by either the EPA or the Calif. State Board of Health. the Chargers, the Radiers, the NFL and the media have kept this mostly a secret,. they make it look like they can just start building a stadium, and that's far from the truth.
I was at that meeting last night. I got there early, and I got to speak with Mayor Robles. Good thing I did, because what he told me never got to the stage. I asked him about the paper trail, he put it on former mayor Jim Dear, I asked him about the remediation process (EPA cleanup guidelines) He said that was ongoing. I asked him when construction could begin. He said that hasn't been determined yet. ( I found out later KUSI News recorded our conversation and later aired part of it in San Diego on their 11o'clock news). None of the news crew were aware of the remediation process. ( I find that odd)
I went inside and listened to a bunch of Raider fans chanting "bring them back" and "Chargers suck", nice way to start off a partnership, eh?
After listening to the Mayor, the city council give pep talks. Fred Rogan of 98oam gave his spin for about ten minutes, (the highlight of the meeting) the mayor came back and apologized for Carmon Policy being a no show, and Mark fabriani would not give a presentation either. No mention of Tim Romer of Goldman-Sachs being a no-show.
No one from the Raiders, the Chargers, Goldman-Sachs, or the NFL. No representation, no presentation. Total snub job by Chargers, Raiders Goldman-Sachs and the NFL.

As a long time resident of Carson. I'm pissed. I don't like being played. and that's what I believe Carson is, a pawn in the game of stadiums.

If the Chargers and Raiders were serious about building a stadium, they sure didn't help their cuase any with the citizens or City fathers of Carson.

Roggin is a windbag and an obvious shill for the Inglewood stadium

I don't find that to be the case. I think he's for the people of whatever town is getting jerked around like the Chargers, Fabiani and Robles are doing.

And I think he's just being honest about which site is legit and which site is nothing but a bluff.

The bylaws are overrated, and subject to interpretation. I mean Kroenke has yet to meet the cross ownership rules.

And if Kroenke can't move as long as St. Louis is working on a stadium, why can Spanos with SD doing everything it can to keep The Chargers?

Oh come on, you cant tell me that Inglewood Fred is unbiased. All he has done is constantly promote Inglewood and bash Carson, not to mention bash St Louis.

When the day of reckoning comes, I don't think what SD did (to keep the Chargers) will remotely resemble what St. Louis did (to keep the Rams). Just my hunch.

But, as you are apt to end all your posts on this subject.. "we shall see..."

No one can tell me Stan hasn't benefitted GREATLY by marriage.

No wifey (and connections that came along with her) and no telling how well he branches out.

Certainly not saying he hasn't been successful... that'd be silly... but - like I said - he's benefitted greatly by marriage (another sign he's pretty smart, I suppose ;))
It's funny though. From what I had read before, he was approached by Walmart because they were having issues getting approvals and plans in place that would allow them to put their stores in locations where they were refused before - like within cities. For better or worse depending on your view of Walmart, (and no I don't want to know as it doesn't matter for the subject) he was pretty handy for the Waltons to have marry into their family.

It's part of why Stan is so successful. He has done this kind of thing with almost everything he gets involved with. He might not be worth the # of billions he is today but I'm guessing he would still be a billionaire. He was already a millionaire when he met his wife.

Think of this. In the amount of time this thread has been going, his net worth has gone from $5.6 Billion to $6.3. Holy crap!

And here I was thinking Ann married him for his looks :ROFLMAO:

I think we're saying basically the same thing... it has been a mutually beneficial relationship.... I never read where Walmart sought out his expertise... if you can find that, it's be interesting.

I listened to Roggins radio show that dealt with last nights "disaster." He and the Mayor of Carson called each other friends, and as a friend, he told the Mayor that it was a bad thing when he felt more outraged at the disrespect shown to the fans of Carson and elsewhere than he (the Mayor) expressed. Some travelled from far away, because they were told they would see the video presentation of the Carson project given to the Owners...Roggins said that at 6:18 pm he told the television audience( NBC) how the night would go, and then at like 6:53pm the Mayor got to the dais and told everyone that the Presentation would not be given, because of some part of it that was still a secret and it could not be edited out in time. This event has been known for a while....No Carmen Policy...No Raiders reps AT ALL....The guy from the Chargers was there, but wouldn't speak, nor even stay in the room as people got angrier.

The Mayor kept saying this doesn't mean there isn't a path forward for Carson....My opinion is there are too many complications for this thing to work in the timeframe given. Kroenke is building a stadium in Inglewood. St Louis is trying to figure out the financing, which even if they do, Kroenke cannot be forced to pay a single thin dime into. No one can force him to....

A few callers called into Roggin's Radio show to express dismay, that they thought LA was being played by all three markets and that no team would come at all. Roggins said that he still held to the view that the Inglewood stadium was getting built no matter what, and until that aspect changed, he believed an NFL team would end up in LA...
and that team looked like it would be the Rams.

Jim Thomas: ‘Show Up’ Should be Rams Fans’ Motto in 2015

Jim Thomas says he thinks it can only help if fans show their support at the Edward Jones Dome this fall, if only to show the NFL St. Louis’ passion for football. “I never try to tell people how they should spend their money or how they should react to certain things. Regardless of how you feel about Stan Kroenke, the best way to show the league you want a team in St. Louis is just to show up. That should be the fans’ motto for 2015: Show up.” Thomas covered several other topics while on the Press Box Tuesday, including Nick Foles contract extension and Todd Gurley’s availability for Week 1.

Listen to Jim Thomas Interview
JT Starts at 6:10

===========

What is jumping out at you in terms of things happening in Carson, St. Louis, Oakland or San Diego?

"I think Oakland is dead in the water. And San Diego...this acrimony between city officials and the team has been going on for more than a decade. That's really nothing new. It really looks like there's a chance this Carson thing has some legs to it. If you're St. Louis, you have to root for the Carson project. But the NFL isn't turning its back in LA, it's full speed ahead."

What about St. Louis?

"In St. Louis, they need to tie up all the loose ends. They need to present the strongest case they can to the NFL. That means having all the land assembled and the financing in place. I don't know where the lawsuits (both the six legislators' suit and the one against the city) fit in there. The main purpose of the (August 11) meeting is to talk about LA. This is a special meeting. I don't think it's been set yet what exactly is going to be discussed."

It seems like Jay Nixon isn't too concerned with the Missouri legislators' lawsuit?

"He's certainly talking a good game. You have to think he wouldn't be doing that unless he had pretty good legal standing. I know the league liked that (Dave) Peacock and Blitz were proactive in the suit they filed against the city."

Can you talk about Dave Peacock's standing within NFL's top brass?

"Peacock definitely has all kinds of credibility. He showed up at the Commissioner's party at the Super Bowl and everybody knew him. He's a known quantity. He's done business with the league at the highest level. They've assembled a big league group. It can only help."

What do you think the ticket sales and attendance are going to be like?

"I had heard earlier ticket sales were slow and more than 10 percent below what they normally are. They did have an earlier deadline than what they normally do for season tickets. You can't have a better opening day game than against in St. Louis. The games in St. Louis have been highly entertaining. And the Rams have won in recent years. I think...the worst thing that can happen if there are like 35,000 fans in the stands. I do agree with Dave Peacock...the best way to show the league you want a team in St. Louis is just to show up. That should be the fans' motto for 2015: Show Up."

On reports the Rams and Nick Foles are talking about a contract extension:

"It's hard to know exactly what to make of the fact they're talking. If you're the Rams, you want to get Foles at a decent price. They've started down this path...but I kind of have my doubts. There's just not a good enough sample size with this guy. The Rams do have a lot of work to do in terms of contracts. They have tons of players...whose contracts expire (after this year). They've got to decide on all these guys and you can't wait until the end of the 2015 season to re-sign these guys."

Odds rookie running back Todd Gurley is ready by Game 1?

"I think the key is...if they open training camp and he's on the PUP list, that's a good sign he's ready for Opening Day. It seems like the little bit we saw during the OTAs...it looked like he was moving pretty good. If I had to guess right now, I would guess he opens training camp on the 90-man roster. Which would indicate he would be ready to play Opening Day."

Fred's agenda is incredibly obvious - bash carson, bash fabiani, praise kroenke and inglewood, ignore or slam st.louis's efforts, rinse and repeat
