This review of Goff almost became a punchline after Goff's 7 game losing streak in his rookie year. Most here didn't believe Goff was a bust except for maybe LACHAMP46, but it was a challenge in keeping the faith until we got McVay. Even then, we heard what a gamble McVay was as the youngest HC in history, so it became a gamble upon a gamble. Now we know that Goff belongs in the NFL and that McVay is a coaching wunderkind...Even LACHAMP46 thinks Wentz and Jimmy G. are a couple of punks compared to The Transfer!
Remember what Gruden told Goff? "Always remember 1-11." He told Goff that he was likely to end up on a team that was just as bad as that Cal team in his first year. converting from the "Bear Raid" offense to an NFL offense was a massive shock and so was the lack of Oline protection. Would Goff have had the same type of second year under Fisher? No. Would he have been better because the kid has guts and smarts and would have improved despite Fisher? Yes, I think so...He did it at Cal, so it's not like he had never done it.Hey, I'll own it, I don't think I ever used the "bust" label with Goff but I was definitely thinking he'd most likely only last as a starter for about 3 seasons in the NFL.
Can't say enough about how blown away I was with him last year, really hoping he can take the next step too and avoid a sophomore slump.
Edit: I am a big believer that you can destroy a good QB prospect (and to a lesser extent, other positions) by drafting them into the wrong organization. Had Fisher stayed head coach, I think the above scenario most likely would have played out.

And I agree he still would have been better in year two under Fish, had Jeff brought in a top OC.
and first season for Goff our receivers were just crap, first issue McVay addressed

he's serviceable but not at the level of a "difference maker."
I just happen to believe that without an almost shut down LT and serviceable center, Goff cannot manage to "make plays" on the move and laterally so as they say to "carry this team" when things aren't going well.
As for any opinions regarding Wentz or Jimmy G being "punks", only leaves me to believe that objectivity isn't a part of this equation.

I just don't happen to believe he will be a "difference maker" or a consistently top 10 QB like Rogers, Brady, Bree's, Ryan or even a Luck (stay tuned).
let's see how the league adjusts this season before we declare Goff "leader of the pack."
