I have to agree and if Fangio stays that is a much better coaching staff under Nagy than Fox.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears are expected to retain defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

The Bills will be on the hunt for a new quarterback this offseason, but they’ll be hiring a new offensive coordinator first.

The team announced on Friday that they have fired offensive coordinator Rick Dennison. The move comes less than a week after the Bills failed to score a touchdown in their 10-3 Wild Card loss to the Jaguars.

WOW, the domino's keep falling, Dennison has been a long time assistant coach and has been the OC for Mike Shanahan & Gary Kubiak, but finally had a chance to be his own man and it did not end well.

Hopefully, he doesn't end up in Seattle as their new OL Coach.

Some of you may remember the name Mike Furrey.

The Bears also announced they hired Mike Furrey as wide receivers coach.

Furrey, who played in the NFL for eight seasons, recently completed his second season as the head football coach at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Furrey

Mike_Furrey_2003.jpg

Furrey made the 2003 Rams roster and played in 13 games, serving as wide receiver and special teams ace. He played in eight games and two playoff contests in 2004. Due to a lack of depth in the Rams' secondary before the 2005 season, Furrey converted to free safety based on his experience in the AFL where players play both offense and defense.

He became the starter in Week 5. He was successful in the transition, as he had one game winning interception 67-yard return for a touchdown, and the next week a game-clinching interception in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. At the end of the 2005 season, Furrey was released.

**He then went to the Lions to play for Mike Martz who was their OC.**

The Detroit Lions signed Furrey to a one-year deal on April 4, 2006 as a wide receiver, being one of the few active players in the NFL to have started on both offense and defense. He emerged as a solid option in the Lions offense, catching 98 passes for 1,086 yards and seven touchdowns. His 98 receptions for that season were the most for any player in the conference, and second best in the league.

Texans extend O’Brien, hire Gaine
Posted by Mike Florio on January 13, 2018

Deshaun Watson has gotten his wish.

The rookie quarterback wanted coach Bill O’Brien to stay, and stay he will. Via multiple reports, O’Brien has a four-year extension. Coupled with the five-year deal given to new G.M. Brian Gaine, both are signed through 2022.

There had been scuttlebutt that O’Brien wouldn’t sign an extension unless Gaine gets the G.M. job. The joint leak/announcement of the two contracts does nothing to contradict that perception.

Regardless, with O’Brien staying and Gaine arriving and the Texans having a young franchise quarterback and a solid defense, the Texans could soon be playing in the divisional round, and possibly beyond.

A year ago, some believed O’Brien wanted out. Last month, renewed reports emerged of a bad relationship between O’Brien and former G.M. Rick Smith. With Smith taking a family-related leave of absence, O’Brien is now entrenched; if/when Smith returns to the team, his relationship with O’Brien (whatever is may have been) will likely not be an issue.

BTW as the domino's continue to cascade downward in the NFL if Matt Patricia is hired by the New York Giants and Pat Shurmur is hired in Arizona look for Steve Spagnuolo as his defensive coordinator in Arizona, now Shurmur could keep current Cardinal DC James Bettcher, but Patricia most likely hires Brian Dabaoll as his Offensive Coordinator and I'm sure moves on from Spagnuolo, which could reunite Spagnuolo and Shurmur again in Arizona.

AFC South with much drama as I could see Alex Smith going to Jacksonville next year and Mike Mularkey of the Titans will always be a Coach on the hot seat for some reason, mainly, he's not the coach that GM Jon Robinson hired, however, if Mularkey pulls off a major upset today, he might be entrenched in Nashville for a few more seasons.

If Watson comes back healthy and the Texan defense returns Watt and Brian Cushing, the Texans should improve next year and I still see the Indianapolis Colts as the doormat of that division with or without any Luck.

No guarantee with his play type and extent of injury on Deshaun. Couple with a terrible, terrible OL and no first and second round picks, finding long-term linemen is gonna be hard (not like there are Andrew Whitworths every year).

JJ is gonna be 29 at the start of 2018 (hey, so am I...lol). And he's already had health issues RE his back. Just like Robert Quinn here, he may have a season or two left. Brian Cushing is a gonner.

The secondary is awful, too. No AJ Bouye and Jon Joseph is almost 34. Things aren't that rosy at the NRG practice bubble they rock here.

Good points and forgot about the draft choices or lack their off, however, they were rolling with Watson and I expect them to their lose their DC Mike Vrabel to the Colts or Lions so I guess Romeo Crennel will be put back in the role of Defensive Coordinator, they will have to add some free agents on the Offensive Line so I want to see how that plays out and again I'm not expecting the Colts to improve either.

Kurtenbach: Jon Gruden hiring Tom Cable raises serious concerns

The Raiders have reportedly re-hired Tom Cable as the team’s offensive line coach, and while normally the hiring of an offensive line coach would not make waves, this one deserves serious scrutiny.

Not because of Cable and the Raiders’ history — I don’t care about that — but because of the work Cable has done since being fired as the Raiders’ head coach at the end of the 2010 season.

This hire should concern Raiders fans.

It makes all the sense in the world that Jon Gruden, the Raiders’ new head coach, would hire Cable as his offensive line coach. He has a strong Raiders’ history, he’s a big name, and he can install a zone blocking scheme for Gruden’s West Coast Offense.

And that last point is the one Raiders fans should worry about.

Cable is one of the leading proponents of zone blocking, and the Seahawks found tremendous success but also extreme failure with it in Cable’s seven-year run as Seattle’s offensive line coach.

Much of that had to do with personnel — Cable inherited a solid offensive line in his early years in Seattle and it (and some solid zone blocking) was able to help the Seahawks go to two Super Bowls. But the Seahawks organization opted to stop spending on offensive linemen in recent years, and the Seahawks’ offensive line play dramatically suffered.

It’s not fair to say that Cable isn’t a strong tactician because of Seattle’s terrible offensive line play over the last two years — he didn’t have much to work with, if we’re being honest.

Despite the dramatic change in talent, Cable didn’t change his scheme — the Seahawks ran zone. That’s his system.

And the Raiders’ offensive line personnel isn’t built for zone.

Is Gruden trying to fit a square pegs into a round holes?

Watson looked good under O'brien.. they will try that out for one more year.

Lol, seahag fans trying to convince themselves Schotty isn't a bad hire. Saying he had bad QB's to work with. Or that Carroll will have him run an offense to maximize Wilson's strengths. Schotty has very little imagination. This hire is good news for the rest of the NFC West.
