Nothing has been said of retirement and people are coming to their own conclusion based on this conversation Matt was seen having.

Edited to add: I wouldn't be surprised if he did retire. I think it's irresponsible what the team is doing with him behind this makeshift offensive line. His first concussion, coupled with Kupp going out, should have been the signal to McVay and company to call it a season for Matt and let the young guys get reps.

If it did happen I imagine unless somehow we could land a top tier QB then Donald will probably retire and it might be a rough couple seasons. Hopefully McVay is willing to be patient and doesn't decide to bail too

Yeah, I could see an exodus happening if things fall a certain way.

What do the Rams look like without McVay, Stafford, AD and maybe Wagner?

I dunno, it’s a nightmare. It means I will treasure each remaining game even more because that would mean only a few more chances to see the greatest defender to ever do it.

Without Stafford, we don’t win another game and likely struggle to even score 10 pts a game, but I’ll still treasure each game if for no other reason as I’m blessed with the chance to watch AD do it at the highest level.

Using her podcast last week to support the premise of this thread though is basically just speculation.

She also said in that podcast that she knew he wasn't ready to quit.

She made the comments I was referring to prior to Matthew's injury. Like I said, it was after the Tua thing.

And.. to the points about the "whispers" up top.. that line seems like bullshit.

The implication was, clearly, that they were discussing Matt retiring because they were talking to him.. as opposed to bosses worried about their highest played players.

I think we would have to trade Donald, could get quite a haul for him to rebuild with. I think he'd be happy continuing to play on a contender.

Found it... yeah he was talking to them. Not sure how that concludes he is retiring.

Those would be the two to talk to about how his retirement would affect the team and if he was to retire, when would be the best time to inflict the least damage to the franchise.

No, I dont think all that was covered, but if I had to guess, I’d wager it went something like this, “hey, this is my second hit to the head in three weeks and my wife is all over me to retire. I think we need to discuss this.”

I think he’s giving the franchise tons of time to figure out what’s next as the solid dude he is.

I‘d love to be wrong and have all this just be a series of coincidences, cuz selfishly, I like having our best QB since Warner playing at the same time as we have the best Rams defender ever on the roster.

But… I see patterns and I know folks hate it when I bring these things up, but… I think this is a real possibility in light of current events.

yeah we all see the possible conclusions - but you were making it seem like you had some new info.

All good...

I dunno. I could see him wanting to go to Pittsburgh, but nowhere else and he may be ready to be done and prefer to walk away too early than too late.

I really don’t have a feel for ADs mindset. I think Stafford’s is a whole lot clearer.

I would not be surprised at all if they all agreed to have him sit the rest of the year out.

I would be very surprised if he retired.

Nah, that’s why I said whispers… not even a rumor at this point, but it’d be massive news if true and it’s a very reasonable outcome based on the existing evidence

I REALLY hope it’s not true and Stafford is just asserting that the OL has to be fixed

Frankly, I wouldn't blame him one but. These are serious things and he's not getting any younger.

Why though? The Steelers are looking like a team that's going to have a losing season this year. They have some good pieces in place their but I don't think they're an AD away from competing for a Lombardi. If Aaron wanted to continue playing it might be a likely destination but I honestly think he'd retire before having to move onto another organization.

Because he’s from there and his children from his first baby mama are both there. He’s stated in the past that he wants to spend more time with them.

I dunno about if he’s gonna ring chase, but he recently signed another deal, so it’s more if he retires or gets traded.

again, I really hope we take stock and reload and explode on the nfl with all our stars still on board next season.

So hypothetically if #9 retired at the end of the season, what would that mean for the salary cap? He just signed that big ol new contract. Just a hypothetical question.

Are you saying the comments made by Matthew Stafford's wife in regards to him playing through TBI are bullshit? You have insight into their relationship and the discussions they've had huh

Sorry gotta disagree. They are professionals and get rewarded handsomely to play a game. They knew they signed up to play a violent game. If Stafford can't play due to health concerns, like having a concussion, they yeah, sit him til he's healthy. Otherwise no.
