lol!

Fan trades always give me a big smile.

We traded a boatload to the Lions to get Stafford who was a lot older and had less stats including bad playoff appearance record and no Super Bowl.

If the Bengals would take that deal every other Team in the league would offer them more to take Burrows.

You're right on the current need. We'll see how things look after free agency. Snead typically hates going into a draft with acute needs so I think the secondary will have a lot of activity prior to April.

But, yeah, if things look like they do now, then I can see them deviating from the norm especially since he's such a talent.
Only position I would auto write off them from taking in the 1st round is an ILB.

That and a fullback but we know those don't exist :D

If the Rams did draft a QB in Round 1, I would vote for Ty Simpson, but not with the Atlanta pick at #5-10. I'd take him at 32, after the Rams win the Superbowl in Feb. I don't think any QB in the 2026 draft class is worth a top ten pick.

I don't think the Rams will get really serious about adding a QB until Stafford retires, but they might add a guy who drops unexpectedly.

Re trading for a star QB, I think most teams would give up three number 1's for Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert--hey, Russell Wilson was traded for two first rounders and Deshaun Watson was traded for three first rounders! The point is that very little chance those guys would be traded except under exceptional circumstances--i.e., the sexual assault charges against Watson. Hey, even the Lions didn't want to trade Stafford. I think the owners said they were only doing it so he would have a chance to win a Super Bowl. I don't want the Rams to do that, and I don't think they would even consider trading for a QB until after Stafford retires, of course, and I'm pretty sure that McVay loves Stafford and wants him back in 2026.

Finally, forget all of the above if one of those formerly-highly-rated QBs drops to Round 5 like Sanders did this year. If Klubnik or Nussmeier fell, I think the Rams might pounce--I DON'T think those guys will drop below Round 3, but who knows? The NFL is saturated with QBs, so you never know.

Also, don't be at all surprised if the front office like some QBs that are mostly unknown right now. I could see the Rams taking a flyer on a QB in late rounds.

Luck was a generational talent. It could be argued that there no generational talents in this draft at any position so it's a false equivalence.
False equivalence? The point being made was that it would take a generational talent for a team with an MVP QB to deal multiple picks to move up for a QB.

Ah, I misread or misunderstood your point. That said, I don't think it would take a generational talent for McSnead to deal multiple picks to move up. They're a very aggressive group, and per Jourdan, explore moving up for a player they love every year.

I think all it would take is an understanding that 2026 will be Stafford's last year and of course McVay has to love the guy. If both of those were true, I'd expect them to deal multiple picks to move up.

Not me. It wouldn't shock me if they took one in the 1st round. But to deal multiple high picks for a player not to contribute in 2026? Methinks they'd try to find talent that would have a chance to contribute to a Super Bowl run and potentially replace some of the outgoing free agents.

@Merlin I like Mendoza more than any QB since Lawrence ( I still believe in Laswrence ) Mendoza has some similarites to maye and Dart, Maye has really developed so to say Mendoza ha more upside wouldn't be fair but if you asked me which one would you take when they left School it would be Mendoza.
Yes and keep in mind I'm comparing them when they came out. If you were to redraft any given draft where the QB has developed well, things would be different. Maye looks like he's coming along real nice, you can tell he's busting his ass at the job.

Also I don't consider myself super high on Mendoza. He just seems like a really safe high pick on a QB. As far as that goes.

Is he worth 3 1st round picks? Likely what it will take to move from 9 to 1. From the imperfect trade chart currently our 2 1st round picks are 2000 points and the 1st pick is 3000.

It’s very possible the Rams end up with a much higher pick, provided the Cards beat the Falcons. We need the Falcons to lose out and we could potentially end up with a top 5 pick. I’m not spending the time to look up how that would shake up the draft order. But quick looking at the schedule

Falcons are 4-9

Washington (3-10) should beat NYG.

Jets (3-10) and Saints (3-10) play each other.

Saints should beat the titans (2-11)

Saints hopefully beat the Falcons.

Falcons beat Washington so 1 loss doesn't change their draft order add to that they're on an 8 game losing streak getting doubled up in points.
Falcons beat the Saints and play week 18 so might not change things
Jets winning could change things with a higher SOS tie breaker.

Again anything can happen it's all a crap shoot when you're trying to predict games of the worst teams in the league. But the point stands, if you don't want to say 3 1st round picks it's going to take at least our 2. If the Falcons end up with the #2 pick by the chart our pick if it's 32 and #2 is only 100ish points over the #1 pick.

Sorry Mendoza is likely the best QB in this draft but he's not worth 2 1st round picks imo, none in this draft are. Doesn't mean I wouldn't take one with Atlanta's pick.

Dante Moore, anyone?

20 is awfully young, he's gonna develop. I know he might go back to college, but if he looks like a top 2 pick, he might be convinced to go pro early.

I don't watch much college ball, I only saw him a bit vs. IU. But his stats and win rate are impressive, and sounds like he has a ton of upside.

Would probably take at least 3 1st rounders (the two in 2026 and one in 2027) to even have a chance to move up to get Moore. I'm thinking the feeding frenzy over Mendoza is gonna mean he's unobtainable.

Those who have watched Moore, how good is he as a prospect?

If he declares I'd take him over Mendoza especially if he sat for a year behind Stafford or Jimmy.

The Rams moving up requires Stafford to be out of the picture for 2026. Otherwise it simply is too costly when they can instead use those picks on playmakers.

If he retires then I think a move up is potentially in play. And a move up for any QB they think has a real shot at starting after a redshirt would be worth two first round picks. So I'd be ok with that price for Mendoza or Moore.

But for them to get to 1 overall is probably next year's 1 on top of that.

Funny I was just reading an article that put out this chart. Some interesting numbers there IMO and discussion.

I’ll just stay close to my IDEA throughout a NFL Fan,but this is just as a Rams Fan.

Goff & Stafford - First what did it cost The Rams to get these 2 QB’s.With The Rams to Draft Jared Goff & the other to TRADE for Mattew Stafford.

They both fit that STAT ! My point also is you have to have a good team & support to WIN it ALL !!
I also think it takes time to develop a QB.

Of course there is nothing like a sports Car type that comes out with all the Bells & Whistles. There’s a LEARNING POINT,my old AZZ has joined the commercial of being my parents & not knowing how to use everything. There is an effort to learning. The Rams just came off a victory & Murray(Kyler) was all that.

I’ll leave it there ,but Case & Nick Foles IMO could’ve done the job if Fisher built The Rams right.

As an example Case,Nick,Jared,
all made it.It was Nick who beat Case & the Vikings.I know it’s a POOR example & who knows ? Does CASE KEENUM win a Superbowl?? I beat some BEARS FANS don’t even know who he is.
(Tyson Bagnet from Shepard would get that chance first).

The 2017- playoff QB’s
(Matt Ryan) ,Cam Newton,Brees.

I’ll keep to my thoughts if VETERAN QB’s. I’d rather Trey Lance & Mac Jones both right Now than when they were drafted. —

Fields ? I’d hate to be taking a chance on Brady Cook to help win a game. The Jets have to go QB.Zach Wilson I NEVER liked & thought why THE F” do you trade Sam Darnold ?

I know Carolina got Rid of Baker who got beat out by Sam.Then Carolina gets rid of Darnold & trade up for Bryce Young who I know he BEAT The Rams, but don’t trust him. -Is CJ that guy ? I know if I’m Houston David Mills helped beat the Bills & Josh Allen.

If I was The Rams & needed a QB,Sanders had a lot of value ?Having 3 Qab’s though.Don’t know Sean Mcvays thoughts on The Rams next QB. Sure he is 1,000% wanting to Beat JARED GOFF Sunday.

I think so too: If Stafford stays healthy.

That is my only worry that something happens to him, then we are stuck JimmyG... And I'm sure he will only last 5-6 game before he gets hurt.

Not sure he makes it to #32, but I agree on Simpson.

A top 10 selection is going to be very interesting in this draft class. It's kind of funny. Where is the surefire premium pass rusher or franchise LT that usually goes top 10? It looks like the probable best players available play non premium positions.

Sorry, I don't understand what everyone sees in Simpson. Lately, he has not been good. Maybe I have not seen enough of him, but I will look at him more in the CFB Playoffs.

I'm going to trust Snead on this one.
I truly believe it's a Sellers Market.

He just looks like an NFL QB to me and most importantly a good fit for a McVay offense. He's not in the shotgun all the time and relying so much on RPOs. He attacks the middle of the field layering throws and not relying upon a bunch of jump balls. Good play action fakes. And he's played as well as he has vs. SEC defenses as a 1st year starter with a horrible rushing attack and WRs dropping passes. So there should be decent upside.

Hopefully, his safety blanket in TE Cuevas who has missed the past few games comes back for the playoffs. Then again, maybe not as that might help to increase his stock.

Finally, they shouldn't have to trade multiple 1st round picks to get him.
