The Cards are running a middle school offense.
Jared Goff is a tough SOB. Our secondary is ridiculous. This is the best tackling Rams defense I've seen in recent memory.
About Gurley.... I hope he hydrated all week and eats a bunch of bananas. I noticed him looking like he was tightening up way before he went out of the game. And yeah, that turf is aweful. But I think a combination of cramping and AZ loading up had more to do with his production than anything else.Gurley with just 46 yds rushing is concerning.
La Coliseum playing surface is atrocious. Nothing more than hard pack dirt. They even spray painted a bunch of it green before the game.
Rams should be concerned about injuries
This one was upsetting to me. Really stupid taking the sack. Why would he do such a thing? It's not like this was Jared's first football game. I was thinking, throw it away, throw it away; but no. Sack, caplunk, yards lost. And he took an unnecessary sack when he had scrambled out of the pocket, but I am sure McVay is all over him today in film session about that, to just throw it away and not take unnecessary contact.
yes, but, way longer period of time than that. This was how it must've felt like supporting the team playing the 2009-2011 rams teams.
Jared's play from week one to week two came with profound improvement. Vs the Raiduhs he was rusty and missed all manner of throws, it was pretty ugly tbh. This week he dropped some dimes early that were crucial down/distance throws that changed the complexion of the game, like the 3rd and 11 in the first quarter when they had the ball with no score at that point. He extended drives with his arm, and proved you can't just shut down the offense by stopping TG. Cards' defense could not get off the field largely due to him.
But he still isn't his normal self in terms of accuracy. He is routinely missing a bit on the short to intermediate throws where he's on the back shoulder when he wants to be leading them, stuff like that. And he took an unnecessary sack when he had scrambled out of the pocket, but I am sure McVay is all over him today in film session about that, to just throw it away and not take unnecessary contact. Dude has a lot of areas to improve, but he's still lookin damn good, and I say goddamn it feels good to sit back and watch this team do its thing now.
Oh and in summary what I learned was that not playing your starters in preseason definitely makes them rusty. But that in the case of this team they're good enough to get away with it.
The Rams are very good but still have quite a few areas they could improve. And if they improve enough they will be unstoppable (barring significant injuries) and could possibly go undefeated. Maybe without GZ they can improve their production in the RZ (they really need to).
