Wont say we missed on him, but I am always happy to see guys do well up north. Talk about playing for the love of the game.
Jeremiah Masoli is tearing it up right now. Why is that of note? Because Manziel will not see the field if that cat keeps playing the way he is.

Oh, and yes, I do like the CFL...

Yeah but the fact that he couldn't6 make an NFL roster and is tearing it up north of the border tells you what the competition is like there.

I have wondered who would win between their Grey Cup champion and our national championship college team.

The Candian team would likely squash the NCAA champ and IMO it wouldn't even be close. In fact the worst team in the CFL would probably win that game IMO. It's just a different level and grown men playing large boys is no contest.

I'm not sure about his attributes being exceptional...........he;s 6' 2" and 229 according to his profile at the combine, and while that is slightly larger than the average WR he's well below average in every other measurable.

I don't even know why this is a topic LOL.

We may as well discuss Johnny Tricycle's trek back to the NFL hahaha.

FWIW's I always liked the name "Duke" not the university, although I'm okay with their football program under Head Coach David Nelson Cutcliffe, just never cared for the basketball team although I highly respect Michael William Krzyzewski...As I digress, good for Duke Williams and the Edmonton Eskimos who used to have Warren Moon as their Quarterback and Hugh Campbell as their Head Coach.

Good for him , a little hard to create separation when you dont have a running start . Trust me out reciever depth is just fine

I know he had baggage coming in... But I really think we should have given him more of a chance.

So I just turn on the CFL game on ESPN 2...I see Edmonton is playing, so I'm oh...Duke Williams is playing... First play I see he catches a 66 yd TD pass …..then catches the 2 point conversion....

he's putting up major numbers up there in his 2nd year....

the guy has all the tools...big...strong...fast.... those off the field issues seem to be behind him..

but oh how I wish he was in camp for the Rams under this coaching staff.... we ended up rolling with Bradley Marquez, and keeping a hurt Nelson Spruce around.

Can't win them all...but man I wish we had another shot at this guy.

Hey, didn't Duke Williams win that strong hands contest in Rams camp? If so, he's always got that going for him . . .

Got bored, decided to look around a bit. So the last game was against the BC Lions. Duke has had six 100 yard receiving games in his CFL career, 3 have been against the Lions. Part of that might be because Duke is bigger than all the Lions' DBs -- the size difference helped Duke make his "Big Play" of the night: jump ball against a smaller defender:

Not real indicative of the presence, or absence, of high level talent, imo.

Here's Duke's first target of the night, FWIW:

I think this is probably the type of play we'd expect from him.

I'm pretty sure the Rams' receiving corps will manage to survive without him.

Isn't the CFL field longer? I would think a 100 yard game would mean less if it is.

Nah, it's the guy who went to Duke for 8 years...Bobby Hurley.

For the record, Hurley only played four years at Duke.
It only seemed like 8 years to the teams they played.

Measurables are overrated in my humble opinion.

But they are meaningful, and his were really bad.

110 yards long, 65 yards wide with 20 yard deep end zones.

Check out this link, its pretty good and breaks down statistical categories pretty well......there is a HUGE difference in passing yards per team

In the NFL the average is 45 yards per game lower than the CFL. Probably because of the 3 downs versus 4 and how wide the field is.

field is ten percent less and talent is about 90 percent less

I would actually think only a notch below NFL standards.

Some Americans don't want to play in Canada but other than that, if you want to be a pro .....that's where you go. :D

how many many players from the NFL go on to play in the CFL? none from the NFL go by choice, to move from the CFL to the NFL is every players dream that plays in the CFL

Is that their slogan?

"Canadian Football, where absolutely anyone can be a pro!"

I didn't really say anything about any of that.

I meant if you're an NFL fringe player who is younger and wants to play pro ball.

The hierarchy is basically this;

1) NFL
2) CFL/ NFL practice squad.
3) College.
4) Arena/Semi-Pro.
5) Sandlot.
6) Touch football with chicks.
7) Touch football.
8) Couch Potato know-it-alls like myself.
