I AVOID Walmart.

#1 - No disrespect to anyone that shops there, but 90% of the people in that store are not too far off from those pictures libertadrocks posted in the photo thread! You want to see some weirdos? Go to Walmart.

#2 - I don't like the bully in the neighbourhood. Walmart has put a lot of smaller shops out of business and pushes around their suppliers like... a bully.

#3 - The quality of products is inferior. I only have so much money. I can't waste it buying stuff over and over. I only want to buy one variable speed drill in my lifetime, for example.

#4 - I'd rather pay a little more, if I have to, to support their competition.

To Walmart's credit; they have taught America a thing or two about supply chain management. They have pushed consumer product manufactures to behave differently, most of it good (improving competitiveness with overseas supply).

But at the end of the day... I avoid Walmart.

Isn't Mr Kroenke pretty closely tied to Walmart? For that reason I hope they continue to do well. If they're anything like the supermarket chain they own and operate over here (ASDA) then they aren't going anywhere soon.

Ehh, Walmart is what it is. I usually get groceries from actual grocery stores (except for a something like a frozen food now and then). I have never bought produce from Walmart.

I try to avoid it as well...but I'm not one of those "Walmart is an evil corporation" hippie types.

Being in grad school, Wal-Mart is good for cheap groceries. They have the best price on the majority of stuff they carry and are usually only one upped on price when a competitor has a sale. Im with AR tho, I avoid their produce.

There's nothing in there that I actually "need", so I don't get there very often. We have one of those Super Targets and a Wal-mart within 2 miles of each other down here, and I rarely go to either. Maybe if I need a couple of plain black t-shirts, or some floor mats, or a clock. But otherwise -- meh. I don't care much about those places.

Meh. I go to grocery stores for produce and specialty stores for everything else. It has its place in society, but I don't like going there myself.

Rarely go there. At least ours is located at the far end of town so I can hit the local stores and only go there if I can't find what I'm looking for. It can be a fun people watching trip though. :sly:

I haven't been in Walmart in 6 years.

Places like aldi's and save a lot are cheaper for groceries granted I have to bag them myself but oh well. Produce I get at farmers market spring summer and fall also grow my own garden and barter for what I have surplus to neighbors and venders at farmers market. I supplement winter stock of produce with canning and some from tge store "fresh"

Clothing and such I go to places like Ross always great items for a great price

Ross is the bomb. I get my sneakers from there. $100 shoes for $25 because they're "irregular." I can never really find a problem with those factory seconds, to be honest. Sometimes there's like a scuff on them, or a thread hanging off somewhere, but that's about it. I buy a boat load of shirts from that place too. Just t-shirts for the gym, working around the yard, or hanging out at the dog park. $5-$10 for Nike shirts and stuff like that? Can't beat it.

I use Wal Mart almost exclusively for Fishing gear....

I also go there for some staples like deodorant, tooth paste, etc..

Never, EVER do I buy any meat there.

But I agree 100% about paying a little more to support the local businessman.

Walmart is just like Home Depot... most of the stuff they sell at HD is crap... want something worth the money and it is special order, and worth the 5 minutes more to go to local lumber yard which has free delivery over $100 purchased

Will buy basic hygiene stuff like deodarant, toothpaste, ibuprophen, etc but that's about it. Buy groceries from a good grocery store. Used to buy produce and meat from Wal-Mart when I was in college and to many times got brocolli with worms in it or hamburger with noticeable bone and cartilage chunks. Never again will I ever buy either from wal-mart. At best I'll buy beer or frozen pizzas from wal-mart and only if I'm already there for something else and it's convenient.

Not to mention if I ever go to jail in my lifetime it'll be because I murdered someone at a Wal-Mart. Full of wellfare, disrespectful degenerates.
