Are the Colts supposed to get Reggie Wayne back? Wayne/Nicks/Hilton/Fleener should be a pretty good group.

agreed he is an upgrade and a solid backup. As far a rookies go I think it is highly unlikely bordering on just plain fantasy, but with how much the buzz around AJ McCarron has gone down I am at least keeping my fingers crossed he will drop into a position where the Rams front office can't help but take him. Once again I don't think it will happen, but if it did and he could sit on the bench and learn for a year or two and either push Bradford and become solid trade value or if that's not in the cards eventually replace Bradford that would be such an ideal situation.

Anyone else want to see the Rams sign a veteran safety to help provide leadership to the young secondary and possibly move McLeod to corner helping solidify both positions. I am not that impressed with any of the remaining FAs, however Thomas Decoud and Chris Clemons are still out there. I haven't had time to watch any film and see if they would fit in the Rams system, but they seem to be the last two big name safeties that might help.

Good question stl. Why don't you start your first thread and ask it there?

Not sure I see much benefit in grooming young, mid-round QB's as potential trade bait. Bradford is so young and the team is so committed to him, the realistic plan is to keep bringing in some kind of inexpensive, veteran backup. At 26, the plan can't possibly be to move on from him in a year or two.

Primarily, there isn't enough depth on this team as it is and using a 3rd-ish round pick on a QB you hope never plays and are unsure what you'd get if he did, doesn't seem like a wise use of resources. A 3rd rounder at just about any other position could and should make the team as good depth, potential starter and special teamer.

Bradford isn't a guy who needs to be pushed. He doesn't have an attitude problem or poor work ethic so there really is no benefit to having him looking over his shoulder. Rams just have to bring in a guy who's affordable and knows his role. Sanchez, Fitzpatrick, whoever. They can spot start or do what Clemens did last year if need be but the hope and approach right now has to be that Bradford will be healthy and become the long term solution for the next 5-10 years.

while I agree with you that a third rounder would probably be a waste on a QB we are hoping doesn't play and may not pan out I do think a push can help Bradford. There was a piece on it the other day and for the life of me I can't remember where, but they were interviewing his college coaches and they talked about the competition they between Bradford and Joey Halzle before Bradford became the starter at Oklahoma. They said going in to the season they had seen both of them play and neither one really separated themselves as the starter, but as soon as the competition started Bradford separated himself and they believed the competition really helped push his development. I don't see why the same could not be true as a pro. I do understand the problem in getting that competition without sacrificing the rest of the team because there just aren't that many NFL quality QBs to be had.

I don't think the situation he was in as an 18 year old freshman at Oklahoma compares enough to the 4 year NFL veteran that he is now. The guy knows how to motivate himself IMO. If we were talking about Tony Banks, sure, that guy needed a kick in the ass but not Bradford. Essentially telling Bradford that he's going to have to prove himself better than a third round roll of the dice would just be counterproductive IMO.

What has Bradford done to warrant questioning his position as the starter is what we'd be talking about. Sure, he's gotta find a way to stay healthy but competition isn't going to cure that.

Anyone here follow the Chiefs close enough to talk about the quality of depth they have along their oline? Because they lost most of their starters. Ouch!
