I really don't see the point of SPARQ scores... really? Just another way to rate something to get money. Can the dude play ball is what I'm concerned about.

Really?? Its not the end all be all but it's a pretty damn good tool to have especially if you have two prospects rated really close you pick the one with more athleticism

Any links to SPARQ scores from past drafts?

That sounds like a bad plan to me.

I believe that Schneider has relied heavily on SPARQ scores in the last few years. You could argue that relying on them too much may hurt in the early rounds because he really hasn't drafted well in rounds 1&2 but after that he has hit pretty good, which is not easy to do.

My guess is that SPARQ scores are more beneficial when analyzing certain positions moreso than some others. It is just a compilation of the combine skills tests.

I am sure that football sense/smarts should weigh more heavily than SPARQ, but it can show give some answers on players that are not well known. For instance Demetrius Rhaney had a very high SPARQ and that probably weighed on the Rams decision to draft him I round 7, instead of waiting to try and sign him as a UDFA.

I agree, no stat is the end all be all but it seems things like team scheme, player history, injury history, team chemistry, or football IQ among other things would weigh more than somebody's athleticism? As in history shows that pick with the Seawhawks ( Curry was it? ) was a work out warrior but was shit. Works out like Tarzan plays like Jane comes to mind :). Not knocking you for posting these, just don't get them whatsoever.

ps love the avatar! haha

It is just a tool to be combined with all of the others. However, Snead relies heavily on athleticism. He loves the freaks and puts that above the proven football play quite often. He took a very raw Greg Robinson and a bit rough Alec Ogletree because of athleticism. He took Tavon and Quick too and neither had any polish as an NFL caliber route runner. Quick was especially behind the curve. He always seems to have a lot of interest in those physical standouts. I would bet he is very interested in SPARQ scores. I am pretty sure he mentioned them in an interview last year.

sparq works....Zach has posted sparq vs success rate but not necessary common sense would tell tell you better athletes do better then poor...

rams need a big cb who is an elite tackler for st's to replace McGee....there is a reason they have shown interest in Mager and Tye Smith ..along with the other highlighted cb's in my top 300...very high sparq with size

Yeah Elm, now that I think about it from how you put it I could see Les Snead relying on SPARQ as a tool. Very good post sir and thank you.

You never answered my question. Are the highlighted players On your 300 list the ones you like or players the Rams have been linked to?
