Before last night I thought we had the best team in the NFL. No team was as good on both sides of the ball. Now, we're still very good on the offensive side. But the defense is not what I thought. And we still don't have a kicker we can trust in pressure situations. That doesn't help in close games. When we won the Superbowl we had a kicker who could make the clutch kicks. Going into the playoffs without one makes it tough late in games.

yeah listening to Eisen... just pissing me off thinking about all the bullshit the officials pulled in this game.

I know its not mcvays style but if i see that crew again - im waiting until after the game and away from other ears I'm ripping Allen a new ass hole.

And we can conveniently forget about:

Williams fumbled the ball at 1 yard line.
Corrum fumbled the ball at the 20 yard line.
Karty missed an extra point.
Karty missed a field goal.

= -18
Like last night, it was a game we found a way to lose. Again. How does that make us feel going into the playoffs?

This is a big issue with NFL rules.....vaguery.
"Complete the catch"...."a football move"...."a show of urgency".....no one knows what the fuck these terms mean.
the NFL rule book should be cut by 50%.
Once you blow the f&$#ing whistle ....... the play is over.
Don't care if the official blew it inadvertently either. Nobody was "going for the ball" after the ball hit the ground.
Ridiculous call.

How about the bullshit call that wiped out our touchdown in the first quarter?!
Yeah that call was completely fucking absurd. It was a bent decision driven by a desire to help Seattle. That was not a mistake. You don't take a TD off the board for some shit like that, in a game that big, unless you have a clear agenda.

Rams need to send a tape to the league for that one. Completely unacceptable.

1. fire blackburn.
When we look back on this season McVay's inability to hold his ST Coach accountable is probably going to be one of his greatest mistakes. They are very fortunate they found Mevis, despite him missing that late FG. He's got the kind of mental toughness we need more of on teams. This goes back to the fact we don't have enough guys like that on our units, and also we give up an edge schematically to almost every ST Coach we face.

I know my confidence level for the Rams playoff success is mediocre.

Can you imagine Kronke watching the 4th quarter and thinking my guaranteed two home games for the playoffs has just vanished..... all that money pissed away..$$$$$$

By all rights the comeback should be one of the focal points of the story. If you take the team biases away the comeback is a big story 0 - 170 times that has happened.Obviously all the strange events are a great and likely even larger part of the entirety of the story but the media should be talking about the comeback

Feel bad for Sean. I know it's gotta be frustrating as heck to be such a perfectionist and watch your team meltdown from the sidelines. The drops in the fourth were so frustrating. The punt return. The holding on Davis Allen. He can't control those.

Hate to say it, but re-signing Tutu and the inability to trust Hunter as the 3rd RB, means we are carrying Rivers & Tutu, neither of which can or should be on our special teams. Thus coverage and return teams suffer. Should have an extra DB on the roster, one of which we could have used Tutu's money on in FA. Or one in the draft, if they weren't going to use Hunter. Could have kept Schraeder as 3rd RB, and drafted a CB.

Just shows how small offseason moves can impact the entire season.

Unfortunately, this isn't a SB winning team with the secondary we have.
That may be true. But fortunately the playoffs will determine that. Rams playoff chances are all about how the defensive front plays. If they play well for 4x games in a row, we will hoist that Lombardi.

What pisses me off is we should be in a position where they need to play 3x times in a row, with two of those at home. But the refs gonna ref. And beyond the refs there is plenty of blame to go around as well as acknowledgment that Seattle has a very strong team.

But nothing has changed here. We knew these corners are weak. Question has always been how's the rush when those big games come.

Why Chase Blackburn is still on this staff is beyond me. McVay is great at a lot of things, cutting bait with incompetent staff members is not one of them. His unit has had a huge factor in each of our losses this season. Get that loser off this god damned team.
What's strange is he had no problems going through them prior. But he probably likes Chase. Thing is if Chase can't get the actual product on the field fixed it doesn't matter.

Also going forward to next camp I think it's going to be important for McVay to cede those bottom of the roster spots to ST players OVER the depth chart guys with some positional upside. This is an established weakness of McVay's in his roster building IMO.

Gonna vent, not about the game...watched the NFL network replay this morning and it was all chopped-up to fit their time block. 4 straight possessions by the Rams in the first half were all picked up, two of them inside th3 five-yard line.

WTF was that...

Helluva 4Q collapse.

As I mentioned above, roster construction is part of the issue. Maybe too many WRs, not enough DBs or LBs. Tutu is a wasted roster spot if you can't use him on offense or ST's. Rivers does nothing special and certainly can't cover on ST's.

Blackburn probably should go, but he is hamstrung a bit due to the roster. Martz was similar. Too many offense toys and not enough ballers for ST's.

This is beyond unacceptable.

The fact that the broadcast crew didn't even replay this is extremely telling. They purposefully did not replay this to the world... because if they did, the clear fucking sound of the whistle blowing would have been validated with zero doubt. Erasing those 2 points from Seadderall. Instead, I heard Al Michaels spewing out the blatant lie that "no whistle had been blown. I know that I heard a whistle blow... and so did our players... that is the reason our players made no attempt?

The league needs be forced to address this bs.
I've added Al Michaels to my no-fly list right next to Collinsworthless. When I see his sorry ass on the sched I will either have the sound off or the spanish feed. Because I wanted to choke the fuck out of him last night. Believe that.

They did nothing wrong.... the nerds in the replay booth overturned the correct call on the field

God this is such ass. Stafford and Puka gave it their all. Our TEs are not good enough. Too many drops. Defense was all playcalling. We started playing soft and let them climb back. Those stupid calls didn't help us one bit. God dammit. This feels like a kick to the fucking heart. Also, when the fuck did our fan base get so god damn negative. All I see is bullshit fans saying we ain't good enough. We are the best team in the NFL. I still believe that. Now we just have to win the fucking hard way. Damn.
The offense hung a lot of points on a great defense in that game. And should have scored that first TD so because of crooked ass refs you can add 4 points to the total.

Also Teams missed a FG. The offense went stupidly into a shell in the most critical point of the game with 3 'n out after 3 'n out.

So there are positives to take from this game. Also I have to say that perhaps it's actually better for this team to go into the playoffs angry and knowing that top seed should have been theirs. And yes I am rationalizing a bit here, I know that. But it does seem to me like this goddamn team struggles to be the one getting all the accolades. They are always way more dangerous as dogs. We'll never know how it would have played out had we wrapped the seed up. But we are gonna find out how it plays out when this team is the one nobody wants to play. So get back to being that team and fuck home field. Let's go shit on opponents in their houses and send them and their fans home in tears.

That's because the whistle was blown. Our players just walked away upon hearing it. Hell, the shecock who reluctantly picked up the ball... only picked it up to toss over to the ref.... he heard the whistle too.
Worst part was those two idiots trying to talk up the Seattle player who touched the ball like he had known what he was doing. Like it was all some miraculous event where only he had the foresight to recognize it.

I was raging at that point boy. Been a long time since I've been that pissed off watching a game.

Said this before: this isn’t a Super Bowl winning team. The deficiencies are too glaring.
Disagree. The Rams can beat any team in the NFL. But in order to do so they need to commit to staying with offensive and defensive schemes that are working. They also need to adjust quickly to offensive and defensive schemes that are not working. The roster is not so strong that they can afford many injuries or that they don’t have weaknesses. case in point the defensive pass coverage is below average when there’s not a lot of pressure put on the opposing quarterback. And without a doubt they’ve got to have one of the worst special teams in the NFL. Especially kick coverage and kick return returns. It will take a four game good to excellent run for the Rams to win the Super Bowl but it could happen so for that I’m thankful. God bless Stafford. God bless Nacua. God bless McVay.
