Except for the wasted roster spot. And the $4 million you suggested paying him even if he can't play. And up to $6 million if he can play, just not well. and $8 million if he can actually play well.

I would love to have 2015 caliber Eifert on the Rams - injuries have likely sapped him, and he's never shown much ability to be healthy. He would need to come cheaper than you suggest, for the risk to be worthwhile. The Rams have a lot of needs, and since they want to frontload AD's contract supposedly, not a lot of room to gamble millions.

A wasted roster spot is nothing. If he's hurt, he goes on IR. And $4 million ain't much to risk. We'll be paying Tavon $5 million for him not to play for the Rams.

If this is true, i think that pretty much speaks how our coaches feel about Thomas and Reynolds.

Not necessarily McVay already said the Rams will platoon at that position to replace Watkins. After they cut Tavon they will have 5 WRs and will need to carry at least 6. Outside of Woods no WR on the roster has played more than 2 seasons, so I wouldn't hurt to add a vet even if its raw one like Pryor.

A lot of the Rams staff has gotten to see Pryor up close and personal, so that may explain some of the attraction. He had a pretty good game mostly lined up against Josh Norman when McVay and Pleasant were still on the Skins staff and his only TD of last season came against Marcus Peters (granted Peters was recovering and it looked like he mistimed his jump and could have made a play on the ball). Even with how big he is, he is athletic enough to do some Tavon like stuff with him. His usage has been similar to how the Rams used Sammy last year go routes, post, slants, drag routes. On the other hand, he played the Rams last year and was shutdown.

Not my first or 2nd or 3rd choice but at this point ill take it. If they're bringing in Pryor who is a question mark what does that say about Reynolds. I think they have high hopes for Josh but they just dont know if they'll be able to count on him to be the guy they need him to be. I think they feel better about Ebukam starting at LB given how they talk about each player a little differently. They have high hopes for one and have alot of excitement and anticipation for the other.
I think it is valuing a position as McVay has stated. There is a reason The Rams drafted Josh Reynolds & wanted Sammy Watkins. It’s about having as many playmakers as possible.
It could come as a RB or even a TE as of right now.Snead seems to not value the RB position as much , but The Rams need to add to the offense.

To think it is just about Reynolds stepping up is Ridiculous

Like WHO SAW him WITH the SKINS ??

He was with the Browns ?? He was with the Browns when McVay was OC with Skins.

Exactly! Prove it deal, whatever we the lowest we can negotiate with him. Would be a good pick up with what's out there and where in the draft we are. We need someone to produce not a draft pick that will bud in a year or two. Close to Sammy's production which is obtainable by him and we should be good.
Then why a prove it deal ? You either believe he is a fit , or not !!

The question still comes down to Tavon.

Pass, hoping our TEs as well as Reynolds/Thomas steps up. Being able to run 12 personnel sets with ease will give opposing DCs headaches more than a premium talent at WR.

Not sure ? I think McVay needs a RB like he imagined Dunbar was suppose to be like.

Yes a The TE’s will grow this season, & how they fill the final spot.

Pryor might have a lot of value.

If the 6-10ers drive the price up, walk away. We don't have the same need that they do.

There has to be value . Can’t get into a bidding war agreed.
The Rams waited to fill some spots as time went by last season. Sullivan & Barwin. Those guys still could be in play again ?
There are a couple DT out there , & a LBer might be had ? Rumors about Kendrick Thompson could be had ?

The Rams will look for a OLB to replace Quinn. Longacre was resigned .

Joe Barry was the DC and Pleasant helped coach DBs when Pryor had a pretty good game against Josh Norman in 2016. They also had to study him this year when the Rams played the Skins. They probably studied his Browns tape since the Skins game was so early in the year. Additionally, he probably also came up when they were studying Peters. Pryor's game against the chiefs was Pryor's best performance last season and one of the few instances Peters surrendered a TD. McVay and Waldron probably studied him less during their time with the Skins, but they know alot of people who have been around him as former members of the Skins offensive coaching staff.

I don't know about this, Pryor is such a polarising player, and he doesn't excite me if I'm being honest. When I heard about the Watkins trade last season I almost exploded, I'm all meh about this...

I'm still pissed about losing that Rd 2 pick this year if I'm being honest...

Better yet, find a way to package some of those late rd picks to get a 2nd rounder and draft DJ Moore out of Maryland. I have watched this kid in person multiple times and he is going to be a baller in the NFL. Think Stefon Diggs....but bigger....and a little faster. Measurables compare favorably to Watkins as well. Very similar WR types IMO.

So give him 20 mill? According to this logic we shouldn’t have given NRC or Sullivan a contract last year. Stahp.

The Rams have a budget. They want an additional WR to do certain things, but likely won't play as much as Kupp or Woods, but will split time with Reynolds instead. So you look for a talented bargain instead, on a prove it deal. It's part of roster management. You can't pay everybody like they're stars. You shouldn't pay role players like they are starters.

Terrible idea. We should just send a 6th Rd pick to Steelers for Martavis Bryant. Hope the team has thought of this one...
