Why not have Tutu field some? It’d be nice to utilize his speed somehow.
Tutu did some punt returns in his rookie year and he looked like shit. Only 5.4 yards per return, plus he got himself injured. Looked so tiny out there.

He had some kick returns as well and didn't look very good at that either.

Here's his KR and PR stats from 2021

It may be too late.
It's never too late. We can kick butt with any other team, take over any other stadium as long as our three units - offense, defense, and special teams - play decent ball. We did so during Matthew's first season with us, and it is about time to revisit that three unit positive play again.

We will rally around Matthew and his gold jacket dreams, and we will play good football! :fistbump1:

I’ve been asking for a real return specialist since Tony Horn.

We’ve had some decent ones. Amendola was good in his limited time as a punt returner as I recall. Tavon Austin was great. In McVays first year we had Pharoh Cooper but it didn’t end well. Even in 2021 we signed Brandon Powell off the street who had a nice rerun in his first game.

He got fired for a reason.
He strikes me as a ST coach who thinks he is Vince Lombardi.
Running a fake punt without getting the thumbs up from the HC will get most ST coahces fired.
If Bones were to come back, good.
If not, who cares?
Don't punters also make the call sometimes to run a fake punt if they see something they like about how a team is lined up? It seems if a punter can make that call the special teams coach could too if he saw something he thought could work but I guess protocol is to run it by the HC

I am not a fan of Atwell returning punts, but kickoffs might be worth trying again.

Whittington is so slow. I don’t like him returning kicks - at all.

The NFL is not a government job. You don't produce you don't keep your job. Special teams has been the weak link of the team most the year. Cost us a shot at the number one seed.
The other phase of the game that's been killing this team is the pass pro. It's fuckin crazy to see these guys completely whiffing on rushers on so many snaps when we have an old QB. And while I do appreciate the run game potency, maybe it's time to switch shit up and improve the efficiency in the protections.

If not and the pass pro sends us home in the playoffs, we're gonna see another classic McVay "firing" with the OL Coach moving on to some incredible offer he "couldn't pass up" at Southwestern Corner State while McVay opines about what a great job he did.
