I believe there’s a lotta truth to that because even after Lake returned the defense continued to struggle. I get it, a game or two to knock off the rust, but the defense never recovered.

The seahawks seemed to be calling the right play all game long in the NFCCG. Only a penalty or miscue could stop them. The Rams couldn’t.
Yeah, it could be multiple things. I firmly believe the collapse started when he got injured. We were the #1 scoring defense up to that point, despite our known weaknesses. And given that two-thirds of the season had passed, we can't say their success to that point was a fluke.

But it's also true that things weren't the same upon his return even after the rust should have been shaken off. One possible reason is that he wasn't fully recovered from injury. He didn't look the same to me.

He's not the most agile guy nor a speedster but he looked slow in Chicago and like he perhaps wasn't reading the right keys.

Course a lot of guys are gonna look slow when covering JSN from the slot too in the NFCC.

Lake going out was the real start of the collapse of the defense but he wasn’t the only loss in the secondary. Spoon and Williams both missed time too. All of those guys going down and the D line not getting sacks put too much pressure on the depth guys.

Can’t wait to see if Verse actually gets home more often in 26 with better corners and likely more press.

Injuries in the secondary.

B. Young was playing HURT !! You look at that Hawks game.Yes Forbes was asked to make a tackle & missed a few.The SAD part was B.Young seemed to be running around on one leg & helped K. Walker get started.
Plus Sam Darnold had more time than usual to pass which might of hurt more & cost The Rams a chance to win another Superbowl

2025 TE Offensive Snaps & Special Team snaps

Davis Allen 52% / 47%
Colby Parkinson
54.7% / 6.7%
Tyler Higbee 32% / nothing on ST's
Terrance Ferguson 32% /16 %

IMO Davis Allen in his 4th season under McVay & the time provided to DA as one of the main clogs on ST's ......I think he will continue to increase his playing time and certainly will not be traded or going anywhere.

Your not putting up the STATS of how well he played in 12 PERSONNEL!!
His Blocking & how he SETS UP in the Backfield like a HB.Mcvay has always honored that position from Day 1. He got away from that & started to use more WR’s using them as blockers because Kupp & Woods were SO good at it.

Max Klare like I said is like Ben Sko on steroids. He will RUN the JET SWEEP.Having Puka or Kupp run it was always scary thinking of injury. He is SO Big & Strong for a WR. He has that skill set,but will be able to let D.Allen eat more at times when opportunity is there.

Davies Allen is also ONLY 24 !!

MAX is still only 22,but Allen has those 3 years of NFL experience.

Then again expect the unexpected!! Just ask Colby !!
(Memento wasn’t expected this, she was think he was going to be a June 1 causality)

BTW - I do think there might have been some kind of influence keeping me from reality thinking Turner got resigned.Might’ve been a Nightmare or wishful thinking from a Les Snead interview?

Either way Reality can happen in a few ways.I can’t even talk about The WWE or UFC at the Whitehouse.Hopefully it’s just a dream or a nightmare from my college DAZE of watching on Black & White thinking about homework & how Crazy that would be especially during a veitnam war on by bicentennial day.

Well flash back & The Who Thunk IT ? Teenage wasteland. !! Let’s all get wasted !! Go Rams !!

BTW - even if B. Young wasn’t playing on 1 LEG - I believe I remember some RAM STUD HOF”r who played with a broken Leg in The Rams first Superbowl.

Yehhaw. —

Competition is going this year more than any under Sean Mcvay
will make The Rams better.

The coaching Staff in itself is as good as it gets.

Max Klare & Ty Simpson is a start of an addition to The Foundation The Rams haven’t had under Sean Mcvay.

You look at at when he was at Washington his first season as an OC.There are a couple things he’ll take from those days. Then add how The NFL is evolving & his body of work as The Rams Head Coach.

You can go back & look at my post.I was The first to talk about Ben Sko was going to make The Rams . Max Klare runs that underneath route & Jet Sweeps. The difference is he is Bigger, more powerful with the ball, & has HANDS !! He can actually CATCH A FOOTBALL!!

There is a REASON he was drafted at 91. RAM FANS complain about TUTU ATWELL for FIVE YEARS & they should’ve taken CRED HUMPRIES!!
—Where is the echo with Max Klare & all the Clan ?? Then add Ty Simpson, but look at say a young K.Cousins. Simpson has SPEED & can make all the throws. He is well advanced than most QB’s that have come out.NOT EXPERIENCE WISE in the way of games.

Anyways in Washington against The Rams & Fisher Mcvay used Trent Williams & a rookie RB a long with an extra TE to just slowly dominate Jeff Fishers defense.Never giving The Rams offense to get started(Nick Foles).

I just like the MINDSET in this TEAM !! Sean Mcvay has SACRIFICED Rams Season to get to this point. He has BUILT a CULTURE here with this Organization.

My post are 1 Thing,This RAMS TEAM is another . Look at say The Superbowl this last year.
—Do you think it doesn’t PISS Mcvay OFF ?? This post is already to LONG,but you want to see The CONNECTION ??

I’ve been BLESSED to have been to All those TRAINING CAMPS since The Rams(BEFORE) moved back to LA. A lot from Mcvay, but the start as well.

It’s not like it used to be to be if Veteran Ram& BubbaRam are my witness. They had BOX SEATS in the RAM FAN Section, but then The V.I.P. Boxes were a different story.
Me myself use to run around all of UCI Fields before they blocked it off.

Kevin DEMOFF could get pissed off at Me for telling he needed another TIGHT END. Just think The Rams could’ve actually had Everett,Higbee & GEORGE KITTLE!!

I have a few thoughts about various players discussed in this thread…

We shouldn’t rely too much on Higbee. In fact, I’m a bit surprised that he was extended in the 1st place. Experience and leadership, maybe? Anyway, I think the kids are gonna push him out the door as far as snaps go.

Davis Allen is generally being criminally underrated and is a necessary piece in that TE room. Rams love him.

Gonna be hard to let Parkinson get away next offseason but Rams may not have much choice cap-wise. I loved watching Parkinson make play after play this last season.

Ferguson got a wake up call with the Klare signing. He’d better improve his drop rate PDQ or risk losing snaps to others.

Klare sure sounds like a gem, possibly a steal, even. I have high hopes for this young man.

If a Villari or some other new TE steps up and pleasantly surprises this season then that’s just pure gravy. Don’t laugh, it could happen. Pundits are saying that Rams did exceedingly well with UDFA’s this year. Sooo…

Scott Huff, the Rams TE coach has been doing a magnificent job developing this entire TE room. Many consider it now to be the best TE room in the league. Huff might be worth his weight in gold. Certainly not getting the credit he deserves, imo.

Obviously, a QB like Stafford can turbocharge TE growth, as well. Rams are a great landing spot for an aspiring and talented TE, that’s for sure. Rams are truly blessed with a loaded roster and each piece has a positive ripple effect on all the others. It’s hard to assemble such a roster in this day of the cap limitations, but if done it’s a beautiful thing to watch the symmetry of all those moving parts.

Clearly, we are gonna continue to see diminished 11 personnel and more and more 13 personnel until the league catches up. Currently, it is almost unstoppable with this OL, QB, and McVay’s scheming.

About the WR room. I think we all recognize that this could be Adams last year. I’m hopeful that the Daniels kid will become WR 3 by second half of season this year, but a WR2 will probably have to be drafted next offseason for sure. I’d prefer NOT to trade for an expensive vet either this or next year. A cost effective WR from next draft seems far more sensible to me.

I really hated the Brycen Hopkins pick. I don't hate this pick for the same reasons I hated the Hopkins pick (Hopkins was soft and not physical; Klare clearly worked on his blocking at Ohio State.). Hopkins was force-fed at Purdue; Klare didn't have many receptions at Ohio State.

I don't hate the player; I just don't see the need when we already have a group of four tight ends. Yes, Davis and Parkinson are free agents at the end of the year, but Higbee just signed a two-year deal, you still have Ferguson, and Davis could easily come cheap.

Snead mentioned in an interview that he needed 5 TEs with all the 13 personnel he wanted to run, so the pick makes sense in that regard.

Awesome post, 43.

He definitely kicked a whole lot of ass with these boys in their blocking. Hopefully he does the same thing this year with receiving and if so maybe he'll end up in that OC assembly line for McVay.

It also makes sense in the bigger picture.
Higs is probably going into his last year, Parkinson and Allen are free agents after this season. The potential to lose three TEs is real. So, adding another play making TE makes sense on that level as well.
