Rams could have added someone that will see the field this year and could be impactful this year. If there's a player in the 1st round that balls out at a position that could have strengthened the Rams chances this upcoming year and the Rams fall short again, you can bet your ass the media and some fans are gonna have a field day with that one. I get it may not be fair in the long term view for Simpson, but that's reality. 2027, we have quite a few big signings/decisions to make so that team may not be as loaded as this year. Lastly, who said anything about drafting a QB? Stafford may play much longer, Rams could have traded for a player if they didn't draft a QB, who knows? If you paid attention, I'm part of the go get that Superbowl now crowd and worry about the future QB when you get there.
Thats fine then. No argument. Its a completely FLAWED theory since there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD TO KNOW if Makhi Lemon, Kenyon Sadiq or Reuben Bain would have won us the Super Bowl we will just lose by "a hair," but I guess we'll just roll with it.

I loved their approach. They had an awesome roster and added 2 quality CBs....(1 with a first round pick). After their moves in free agency, they entered this draft playing with house money and they took an aggressive approach, a wise move in that situation. To piggy back on your point, there is no way in the world to know what impact Simpson will have in the coming years.

I guess I don't get why it matters. Most of us will be right and wrong in our opinions over time. Let's just hope he's right and move on. There's almost nothing more boring than "I told you so".
Too many people are invested in Simpson failing now so it will always matter to them. Simpson isn't alone in this there are still people bringing up Tutu getting picked over Creed as well. It won't ever go away now.

It isn't flawed at all but your response tells me its not what you want to hear. Reality of what could happen sucks. Of course your reality of Simpson being the next great is possible too. You just happen to be confident in it way more than I am.

Some, not all,, will be HOPING he fails. They should prepare to be heavily disappointed.

I challenge those to POST their pick at 13 over Simpson.

Give me your pick at 13 then instead of Simpson. Lets hear it.....

You can have WHOEVER was available. The two of us, and the board will track his performance and career to see if you are right.

I guess you don’t think grooming a QB now worth much in the future?

We’ll see what’s going to happen? You still have to hit on that SO called player. -You wanted Lemon ?
It's not about what I want in regards to this conversation. Its going to be painful to hear the talk and 2nd guessing if the Rams fall short of the Superbowl again and could have used a player (any player) that balled out that was picked after Simpson. Not what I want to happen but it is a very distinct possibility as Superbowls are extremely hard to come by.

I didn't want Simpson but I get the pick and I trust McVay. Everything I've seen from him leads me to think he's a really good QB for his offense. But he's a Ram so I just wait for his time to come. I wasn't even going to post in this thread anymore but found myself responding to 503. Now it's time for people to criticize me for having this opinion :D

You're really lost in this conversation. Its not about that. Maybe re-read and get back to me. Guess I insulted your savior by talking about possibilities.

I'm criticizing you for being logical in trusting, ya filthy bastid...... nothing wrong with that stance at all. We all have the right to believe what we believe.

We have both been around long enough to know that the above is Not-a-Given.

Aside from their own pick in 2027, the two extra #1s are the Colts and the Cowboys (or the Packers) ... those later two #1s may be in the 20's.

Also this year was a good example of how a Quarterback-draft-class can decline for expected-to-be-good TO kind-of-weak pretty quickly.

Finally, if one or two of the 2027 QBs are elite-prospects, the chances of acquiring the 1st or 2nd overall pick may be very small.

I have no idea if this "Jets wanted Simpson at #16" report is accurate ... and far be it for me to question the reliability of the Renowned NFL Insider Drew Boylhart.
It's not a given but I'm happy to take the bet.

And they don't have to get a 1-2 elite prospect, they just have to get a better prospect than Simpson.

I'm routing for the guy but even I can concede that he's not a great prospect and this is a dice roll on a guy who does not have many elite traits.

Also, if the Jets take Simpson, you have to play him this year to figure out what you have in him which is already setting him up for failure if you take the historical data on his starts into account. And let's say he starts the back 7 and plays middling. Then you don't really know what you have in him AND he's played you out of contention for a good QB.

Not a given but the weight of everything means I believe Boylhart - who's never been known as an insider - is wrong.

Call it a 1 in 20 shot that the Jets were gonna take him at 16.

He cant SAY who or what he wants because he's AFRAID to put himself on the line. Easier to stay a complainin fan in the shadows.
