What Lake is doing, playing multiple positions at a high level is not that common. Plus at 6'1" 196 his size is needed. Unless he is unreasonably expensive, he needs to be signed. He would be missed.

Snead is unlikely to sign him before he tests the market in free agency. Lake will most likely command more than Snead is willing to pay for the position with young guys like the hard hitting duo of Kinchens and McCollough. They gave Curl a modest deal in free agency and he's signed thru 2026. Don't see a contract for Lake in the cards at this point.
You're probably right but while Lake may be a safety, his position is nickel (who plays some safety).

Any attempt to keep him strategically or financially will follow that logic.

Lake has quietly taken his game to a level I did not expect and became a defensive star in this system this year. His individual performance has elevating both the cornerback room AND the LB room with what he provides at the nickel. Dude is a huge reason why the team is having the defensive success we're having.

Thing about Lake is his quality. He gets better every game, and people around him seem to be getting better as well. We need to sign him long term. We need his leadership on that field.
His intelligence, character, and leadership on top of his play, make it a no brainer. He also has said he wants to get into media when his career is over. So I would think it's a no brainer for him as well, to want to stay in LA with NFL Network and the overall media landscape there. So should be a pretty easy negotiation.
