I have a hard time believing any Rama fan over 14 is really worried BECAUSE of the preseason games.

If this was the first time McVay held out everyone, maybe I would understand.

There was no equivalency in Rams 3's and 4's facing other teams 1,s, 2's, 3's, and 4's...

When we go to Seattle, then we will have a better example of what this season has in store...... and even then - Maybe! We really won't know how it goes until the season is almost over. Otherwise why even watch the games if they can be played on paper...?

This Is Fine GIF

Everything is fine

Sadly, the failure to display any commitment to, or a display of, a potent running game was a consistent feature this preseason. I thought Rivers did well with what opportunities he had.

It's hardly a surprise anymore.

Looks like another year of Stafford, Kupp, and the afterthoughts.

I won't be drawing any conclusions until all our starters are playing together and our best players are in the game. We haven't seen that yet.

I'm not predicting playoffs but I'm reasonably confident the Rams aren't going to just get rolled every week.

Every other week maybe.... but certainly not every week!

I agree with the overall sentiment of your post but Denver did not play its 1's last night.

Why are there two with same title?

Can we merger them?

Regardless of what cliche statements we want to make about the preseason, there are real, clear takeaways. Several guys we were relying on to step up looked undeserving of a roster spot (Rochell, Bruss, etc).

These are not all backups. Many of the guys that played, particularly on defense, are competing for a starting/rotational role. Even some of the true backups are going to have to see the field when injuries hit. Essentially what we saw is our roster is paper thin.

.

preseason has absolutely zero correlation to what will happen in the regular season.

zero.

wait until the season actually starts before you start crying.

maybe then we might be able to actually understand it.

Yeah, I exaggerated a little but I was speaking about the overall disparity of competition across all 3 preseason games.
The Rams had some starters out there as well here and there, but we consistently played guys I never even realized were on our roster against much more qualified prospects who will play in the NFL.

It's not just the players we hold back more than the other teams. We hold back everything else too. No team goes farther out of their way to avoid risking anything in preseason than McVays Rams and despite some conjecture earlier in the offseason, this year was no different. Infact, McVay may have went even farther than normal in giving nothing away. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

There are 90 people on a preseason roster. Which means 37 of what you saw last night will not be on the team or on the practice squad. The vast majority of the team didn't play last night. Preseason does not predict regular season. Look at the Ravens until last week. They won like 26 preseason games in a row. Meant nothing for their season

I counted 35 players that did not play last night.

A couple were probably health-related but I excluded players like Long who just came-off PUP.

Example: The 5 safeties that did not play (Johnson, Fuller, Yeast, Lake and Taylor) may be the Rams' 5 safeties.

but the Rams should consider bringing in a vet at QB once teams start releasing players.
We definitely need to bring in a veteran for our backup QB spot. I didn't think we could ever be worse than Wofford and Perkins as backups but here we are, worse. Bennet has been shit in all 3 pre-season games, fuck his garbage stats when the game was over, he misses open receivers (off-target throws) and can't read coverage for shit. This ain't college where you have an o-line that gives you 5 seconds to run around and wait for receivers to come wide open like he had at Georgia.

If you go by point differential there is no doubt the Rams fielded the worst team, by far, in the entire NFL during the preseason.

Having a losing or winless record in the preseason is hardly a concern.

What does concern me is when our backups are so handily and thoroughly dominated by the backups of previously equally lousy teams (going by 2022 records) like the Raiders and Broncos.

Next month should be a real "eye opener" for some on here.

Perhaps me too.

By this game, it is obvious to me that the Rams are going winless, and the Broncos are going undefeated for the year! :dizzy:

how does the play of the backups relate to the play of the actual starters who will actually play in the regular season games?

please wait until the regular season to start crying.
