.

they're playing for the #1 seed. they'll be trying their best.

just like the cowboys will.

and just like the seafucks did. but the rams kerb stomped them.

ready for the rams to do that to those overrated cowboys.

.
They already beat the Saints & Packers and are a game up on both of them. So yeah, they can afford a loss as long as it is not against the Seahawks.

With the tie breaker in their favor, the only way they don't get the 1 seed is if they lose the division to Seattle.

The Niners beat the Rams with two backup Ts last time.
Although C may be a bigger deal.
The Rams could physically compete with the Whiners. But once the Whiners got up they were very conservative on O.
They knew the Rams O couldn’t do anything that day and didn’t want to take risks with their own offense.
NO attacked them very well with Hands Up Don’t Catch until he was injured. Would like to see some similar plays for out TEs.
But none of it will matter if we can’t get past a desperate Dallas team.
Dallas HAS to win.
Hopefully their crippling disfunction continues.

The Rams still we’re playing zone defense with Peters at the time. Noteboom and Allen were both playing and kept the game to a tie at the half. Enter Demby and the Niners decided to test him. That is when the onslaught began. In the second half after Henderson fumbled the pitch and the Niners went up, they realized that they could crush Demby (the friendly ghost) by running right through him. Suddenly Goff had zero time to do anything.

I think this time around it will be different. The offense, especially the Oline is much improved, even over the line that held the Niners to a tie. The defense is also much improved.

The one thing that I worry about is the refs.

Yep, this current Rams team is far different (and better) than that team that faced the 49ers previously.

OL
TE usage
Gurley
Ramsey/Hill FS Peters/Talib
Rapp has emerged since then, too.
McVay is calling better plays in differing schemes.
Goff now gas confidence in his OL.
Edge play improved.
Interior DL and AD are benefitting from ‘new’ secondary.

Let the refs excuse go. It’s weak sauce.
To be fair to Demby they all were abusing Blythe, Havenstein and Allen.
The biggest difference is the D change I think.
When playing the Whiners D cannot over pursue because, like the Rams, they run a lot of mis direction stuff.
The first game was a strange, old school game.
Both play callers were calling games to protect their offenses I think. This time around I expect the opposite.
A lot of aggressive play calling.
That said I think it comes down to turnovers.
Have to mix coverages and break play calling tendencies (like McVay did against Seattle)

That's the word for the Rams from here on out!!! It doesn't matter who they play...if they don't hit the field ready to play...they can lose.

We know the next loss...we can start talking about all the off season stuff!

Watch that first game again. It was like two completely different defensive plans from the first half to the second. Sure they beat up on Allen, Blythe and Havenstein, but they didn't go with the heavy pass rush until Noteboom went out. They tested Demby and found they could crush the entire OLine. Goff looked shell shocked.

And until the refs actually call even games consistently, it will never be weak sauce, whatever that means. I didn't blame them for that first loss. But they had a very clear part in the Pittsburgh loss for whatever reason. This late in the season it wouldn't surprise me to see some lopsided calls to shape they playoff picture.

If we can beat Dallas, the Niners game will almost certainly decide if we make the playoffs.

couple of things about that game, Niners are beat up with several starters out for weeks, and it’s not the game they need to win.

if the Niners beat falcons at home this week, and Seahawks beat panthers and cards, all highly likely, the Niners beating the Rams won’t help them win the division. If they beat the Rams and then lose to Seattle, the Niners lose the west and become the 5th seed WC.

how does all that play into the Niners approach to the Rams game? It’s possible that they don’t play guys who are banged up, saving them for seattle the following week. In any event, the game will be more important to us than them.

I’m not so sure Seattle beats Carolina.

I hope that you are right. The Chargers are loaded with talent but never seem to get over the hump. But they are capable of a surprise.
They seem to always start slowly and finish strong in the Rivers era.
They have a very good (too 5 or so) defense that could slow Minnesota.
It really comes down to the Chargers OL keeping the pass rush off of Rivers and him not throwing dumb pics.
