According to this they are going with an interim GM, until after the draft. Kind of odd. So even if Farmer got the job, no picks until next year.

So if the Rams lost Farmer in May and Scheelhaase in February, they'd have three 3rd round picks in both 2027 and 2028. And lets not forget, they could sell off one of those 1sts this year for a 2027 first, giving them more than enough ammo to land a good QB prospect... But that's getting waaaaaay ahead of things.

No. I think There’s a limit in that situation. It’s would be three total (not 4).

Yeah, you only get 3 total. They would get two 3rd rd comps next year, but only one in 28'.

That happened to SF a few yrs ago when they lost Saleh and a front office guy. Or maybe it was McDaniel abd a FO guy. Either way they only got 3 comp picks total.

BTW, an interesting commentary on the Rams. Carthan as an ex-GM brings a different perspective.

His take matches most takes here. In FA you got Curl, and McCreary as possible in-house signees, depending of course on cost. The rest don't matter too much, and can return if cheap enough.

Draft he recommends defense. Stresses corner. Also stresses ILB and adding speed to cover backs and tight ends in this division.

He's a smart dude. Better take on our team that most media types you'd hear from. Also it was interesting he said there was some love in-house for Bennett. Reinforces that thought he'll be allowed to compete for QB2 in camp. Might even be the plan.

Thanks for the summary, I was too lazy to write that up.

I'd feel pretty good if we went CB, WO ( or vice versa with those 2 picks) and then an LB with our first 3 choices, as it stands now.
Adding another CB and possibly a WO in FA would finish it off well

Good Stuff. Thanks for posting. Carthan provides knowledge.

The host (Ryan Wilson) seems clueless, not knowing Quentin Lake signed an extension. This is his show!

Need to do a little research and prep to provide value. Checked his Bio ... covers the NFL and NFL Draft at CBS where he has worked for 15 years! Can't wait for Ryan Wilson to provide valuable Draft insight on the Rams!!!

Seriously though, it's just another example that the National Media doesn't know nearly as much about individual teams (even the Really Good ones) as the die-hard fans (that's idiots like us) of those teams.

Who here doesn't know the Rams signed Lake and Landman to extensions to keep them out of free agency?

Am I the only one concerned that our highly drafted d-linemen appeared to not be progressing. Verse and Fiske quite simply are underachieving, and really - apart from a hot start to this season- Byron Young hasn't been very productive in his time in LA based upon where he was drafted.

Verse's inability to develop a counter when his usual bull rush is stopped, is concerning as is the overall inability of the line to generate actual pressures, or to tackle effectively.

It seems to me that Verse is generally given credit for pressures when the opposing lineman is moved closer to the quarterback, but the qb's are not actually being disrupted or moved off their spot.

Verse has very few sacks in his 2 seasons, very disappointing. He has been unable to show bend or to generate sacks around the edge.

In truth, Desjuan Johnson often gets sacks and definitely flashes aa a pass rusher in the short spells when he is in the game.

He is often the most disruptive d-linemen on the team, yet - strangely - Johnson is some times a gameday inactive. I certainly hope that his UDFA status is not affecting his playing time.

To me, when players collectively underachieve for multiple seasons, I question the work of the defensive line coach, and I think that a new defensive line coach should be in place to assist in assessing possible draft picks or free agents.

I have similar technical concerns about the tackling and the technique of our defensive backs.

The amount of blind lunging at ankles was infuriating, as many long gains resulted from horrendous missed attempts at tackling.

Not worried about Verse at all personally….

I was wondering if someone was ever going to mention Fiske. Overall, he's been a disappointment. He's pretty good at rushing the passer but not good in run defense. His pass rushing chops don't make up for bad run defense, IMO.

I'd be looking for an upgrade. It would be great to have three DL as productive as Seattle's.

I'm not worried about Verse either, but there is a possibility that he has a Chris Long type career - great at pressures, but short on sacks.

Fiske looks like a role player. He can't stay healthy, so a pass rush specialist is probably where he can do the most damage.

Poona Ford is the man to plug up the run and Fisk should be used in passing situations.

This thread seems to have been hijacked as we have gone form new OC to defense, but I will make some guesses as to the titles of a couple of new Assistant Coaches and this is predicated on Aubrey Pleasant becoming the new defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals.

Offensive Coordinator... Nate Scheelhaase, seems to be what everyone is thinking as Rams keep Ragone with Stafford.

Assistant Head Coach/Senior Offensive Analyst...Kliff Kingsbury, an appropriate title without being OC.

Passing Game Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach...Jimmy Lake, Lake began as a DB Coach and now gets to step up with hopefully a new CB room with Corners that can actually cover someone. Lake needs to shine in this role.

Yeah, the thread got a bit off track but I don't mind. We can talk about anything as far as I'm concerned.

Funny thing is Sean Mcvay said he was going to find a good fit to bring in.

—IMO which is as good as anyone else’s,but I’ll use logic & say it wouldn’t be Nate Scheelhause as The Rams OC !!

Nothing against him & or he shouldn’t get The OC job, which IMO he should get.

Point is is that Mcvay really digs deep & doesn’t want to change The Culture & relationships within
what’s happening on the sidelines.

Thinking he wants a Booth guy as OC.Making me dig a little deeper, but if you look back at say Kevin O’Connel he was on the sidelines, but he was also The OB coach for Stafford in away. Wes Wade was in the booth & is still O”Connels OC who should be looked out as a HC candidate. He helped Darnold with Minnesota.

It will be interesting to see who Sean Mcvay hires. Here is a Farch to believe- lol - if happens.

It’s part of Mcvays coaching tree he was in. Plus Kliff was a RAM for a SECOND?? Then USC ? Then Arizona if I remember correctly?

FREAKING “ REALLY” was probably my last in AWHILE (for me)!

It’s pretty OBVIOUS that The Rams(Sean Mcvay) was going to bring this guy Kliff on Board as a COACH!!! Seriously need to see what’s up & his position on The Coaching Staff ??
My thoughts were Mcvay wanted to keep things in place & bring a OC from the outside.Still he was on The Rams Staff before going to USC & then HC to the Cardinals. He is very confident, but also is very innovated .
—Just saying Mcvay is really going to get things right
