This was taken a few days before Christmas. We went over to @Ramrasta 's house to visit our new Grandson Mateo and we brought Judah along.

Judah has on his World's Best Uncle bandana and Ramrasta's Dog, Cali, has on her Sister bandana.

She’ll be my wife’s protector on her hikes.

Nobody's gonna fuck with your wife with Buckle there, that's for sure.

Glad you adopted her from the pound/shelter; a lot of those poor dogs/cats there need the love.

I wonder how dogs perceive, remember or think about changes like this.
Dog was no doubt sort of lonely and miserable in the pound, then, a short time later is having a blast working with his owner. Meeting new folks, on the water, endless stuff to sniff.....coming from the pound.
Do they remember? Are they "thankful"? Etc.

Excellent questions.

From my experiences... dogs love routines.

Most of them love boats too even if they are not swimmers.

My boy loves being on our boat and he loves swimming. Our beloved schnauzer before him loved the boat too but wouldn't avoid the water... but he would avoid swimming. Boat riding for dogs is like a car ride times infinity.

Give a pup a routine and they totally love it. Our boy gives me the stink eye if I don't take him for a recon golf cart patrol around the neighborhood each night. He's more than 50% poodle... so he's smart af. But I've come to realize that all pups want a regular routine to follow... it makes them happy and I believe it makes them feel accomplished.

That pup in the video was stuck... now he has a routine/job to look forward to and it includes boat riding. Please... that's heaven for dogs. Even scardey cat pups... give them a few steady boat rides near shore and they all turn into to boat dogs. Even if they hate water.
