That new Bears coach is about to find out there's a world of difference in being the mad genius drawing it up when the system is all set up to provide you good talent and the snot bubblers up front. Versus when you find yourself needing to set up all that talent and running the entire show.
OC has to be a great gig, especially where he came from. Martz for example probably appreciated the foundation laid by Vermiel a ton more after he'd had some years of building it himself.

Johnson found out a system without a QB who can see the field and deliver the ball accurate is useless.
Hate on Goff all you want. The folding under pressure, fumbles etc. I get it. Warranted to a degree. But that Detroit success was less about the system and more about the QB and Oline.
Caleb is light years away from getting the ball out accurately and on time. That was rough to watch honestly.

I saw a much improved player and much improved team. The team imploded across the board in the 2nd half and O'Connell took advantage. It didn't look like 14 - 3 against 5 - 12 to me.

Watching this game.....the Rams traded a problem to the Bears.
Jackson is not good.
Bad balance....easily loses rushers with a change of direction.

Amazing what a little financial security can do to some players.
He did have an outsized ego. But life has a way of humbling even the most arrogant of us. So I'm sure there's a point where it occurred to him how good he had it with DV building the lines and assembling all that talent that helped make him a household name.

I don't know if he was ever that good.
After the Rams signed him I watched some old Lions game and he was ok, not great. Certainly not worth that contract.

Vermiel. Rams had no eye for talent for a decade. Then they hire Vermiel and hit on players for several years in a row and build the GSoT. Then the moment Vermiel left they went right back to whiffing on players.
