What would Simpson’s stats look like if he returned for another two years in college?
We wouldn't know. His back-up would have replaced him at the top of the line-up anyway. I honestly think that is one of the reasons he is leaving college. The other being little to no competition for top draft positions on QB this year. There was a made up loyalty narrative that I'm not buying. I think he would have been second string if he stayed at Bama.

Well he did graduate in 2024 and just got his Masters in December 2025.

Sure he could have stayed, but I would have left, too. Come to think of it, I did after I got my Master's Degree. I was sick of college.:laugh1:

College life is probably a bit different for the starting QBs at these big colleges. The sorority parties and all that fine pussy falling in their laps has to be something to consider sticking around for if you have eligibility. Not to mention that you can get paid now while doing all that.

Getting drafted means joining the real world. And dating in this era has to be downright painful in comparison to the setup for the players in these big programs.

Just my personal opinion but we don't need a drafted QB to win super bowl 61 at SoFi. We need a shut down corner. Yes, we need a capable backup just in case but I doubt a rookie will fit that role. Read that the Rams could pounce if the cheatriots can't extend Christian Gonzales. Dang, if he can shut down JSN, the shit hawks are toast. I saw other rumors about McDuffie from KC for #29.

To me, all in is trying to win the darn thing next season. I believe if the Rams can secure a shut down corner with one of the first rounders, then I'd be ok trading one of the first rounders for a 1st round pick next season. If not then draft another stud and let's go get it done. The window is wide open while Stafford is still wearing horns.
Exactly. If the plan is to go all in for a Championship, screw counting on rookies. Most don't provide that significant an impact.

I dont know about that, I doubt any of these post grad players live anywhere near campus

Did Simpson receive a legit shot to beat out Milroe or was it already presumed the vet Milroe was the starter?
Milroe actually got benched his junior year and because Tommy Rees was the OC, they starter Tyler Buchner, who was tragically awful. Buchner himself got pulled for Simpson who actually played well, lead a scoring drive to seal a win
The next week, Milroe got the nod and the rest is history

Yeah - I saw 5/2 and then when I searched for specific stats, it gave me a lot more info as well and that is where it showed 8/2. So of course I'm going with the stat that favored my argument. I don't pay all that much attention to preseason games but in what I did watch, he looked vastly improved and actually quite good this last season. Did he maybe have 3 rushing TDs? I'm not trying to say Bennett is our next #1. I just don't think Simpson is either and I - like you - don't see spending the kind of draft capital it would take to grab a likely back-up only.
I too, thought that Stet looked much improved, and actually fairly sharp last preseason.
Curious to see him in the upcoming preseason ........ and see if he progresses in a similar fashion.

Do we bring Jimmy back? Will he want to come back, lot of open QB spots this year (or at least open QB competitions).

Just to remind folks…
Bennett was decent against the cowboys and was awful in the 1st half against the chargers. In the 2nd half he played better, against guys you’ll never hear from again. He also threw a pick that should have coasted them the game but harbaugh didn’t attempt to run the clock so they got a chance to win.
Dresser Winn looked half decent in the finale

If Bennett isn’t the 2nd QB with now being his4th and final year, then idk why he’d be kept as 3rd. Seems either he moves to backup to save a few bucks (no more JG) or we move on to a newer young guy as #3.
