Fire Campbell and promote Ben Johnson.

Have you ever had a boss that you knew was holding the company back? Your boss is not good enough in his role and he can't do your job despite being in the same dept.

Campbell got them this far, which he should get credit for, but he isn't smart enough to get further. And they lost today because of Campbell's low IQ situational football strategy. It's not the first time either.

In reality, stellar drafting in combination with Ben's OC skills are what made the Lions a force.
In all fairness Goff threw darts on the 4th down plays and #8 Reynolds dropped both of them

Some folks really underestimate how important culture-building and leadership are. How many times have we seen brilliant coordinators flame out when given a HC job? Don't sell Campbell short because he shit the bed today.

Bingo.

We only have to look at our recent DC, Staley, to see that this is true.

Or look at Spags - great DC, but terrible HC would couldn't lead a pack of hungry wolves to fresh meat.

It was no different than McVay in 2018 compared to 2021. He got out coached in 2018 but learned from it which allowed the Rams who were undermanned due to injury to still win their Lombardi a couple of years later. Teams need to mature and learn from the experience and recommit to getting it right next time. It's why getting to the playoffs for this young Rams team to understand that the playoffs are a whole lot different with mistakes being magnified.

What we saw this year is that the Lions are close and Holmes now knows exactly how close they are. He drafts well so I expect them back in contention next year. Like the Rams the Lions need to emphasize tackling technique. It was the difference for the Rams this year and for the Lions in this game. Coaches take it for granted that the players know how to tackle but most simply do not. For most they never really got coached up specifically for it since high school. McVay needs to set aside at least a couple of days in OTAs in specifically coaching it up.

The Lions are a legit playoff contender as are the Rams. The team that is the most frustrated IMO are the Ravens because how much longer can they keep their window open? Both the Rams and the Lions have just opened their windows.

Campbell needs to understand he can't be so cavalier with when he goes for it on 4th down. He needs to keep the opposition chasing him not allowing them the opportunity to shift game momentum. Either he will learn from this or he won't.

Anyway, what this means is that I'm not going to bother watching the Super Bowl because I dislike both teams.

I think this is spot on.

And no way would i give Goff a multi-year deal. He's good and all but for me he is just not a QB you are going to win a Super Bowl with.

I hope the Lions go 0-17 next year and SF goes 1-16, Ill give them a win in AZ.....

I can't root for the niners and I hate the fact of rooting for Taylor Swift's team.

That's crazy, almost as bad as saying the Rams should have fired McVay after he got schooled by Belichek in his first Super Bowl.

Without a doubt he made some bad decisions today, but like McVay, he can learn from them. The fact that he changed the culture of this Lions team, which was dogshit for decades, is no small feat. They absolutely wouldn't have been in the NFCC if it wasn't for that.

The Rams did the next best thing and fired the QB who they knew they couldn’t win with

Oh, I will be watching the Super Bowl and pulling for the Chiefs all the way. I don't like Mahomes, but I hate the 9ers. I have to admit yesterday was the first time I ever remember pulling for the 9ers and it was only because of that punk as Joseph and Cambell who is a perfect example of the "Peter Principal". I'm getting ready to win all the points I lost on Sportsbook, yesterday and then some.

Eagles D was the bigger problem.. Campbell & Holmes are tied together, imo… and that’s VERY different from Philly.

there will never be a perfect. comp. but there are relevant similarities. philly also lost players while detroit will likely improve.
