It's fair to call Goff elite now

Jared Goff is a special passer, he's very accurate. I wish he would break a long run one of these days.. that would be fun to witness.

For a second year qb it don't get much better than Goff, and no I'm not counting the year Fisher's prehistoric offensive coaches completely wasted. That was essentially a negative learning experience the young man would have been better off foregoing.

I would not trade Goff for anyone, and his contract will allow another FA binge in the offseason.

We have our franchise QB.

And to say that he's "arrived".

Watching him yesterday has removed any possibility of doubt, it is no longer possible to make a case that he isn't elite. It can't be done. Yesterday in a dogfight with the defense letting the team down and handing points to the opponent because of drive extending penalties he kept his cool under mounting pressure and just went to work.

He's risen to the occasion every single game and without his play the Rams lose the Vikings game, split with SEA, and probably lose to Green Bay. This team could very well be 5-5 or 6-4 without him playing the way he is. At best maybe a shot at 7-3.

That is what an elite QB does.

Yesterday was another 300 plus yard game, he has 7 this year essentially if we give him the GB game at 295 yards. The thing for me is yesterday he did it without any long bombs, he did it in nice size chunks, which is good because it adds confidence that 3rd and long plays aren't daunting. They know they can pick up a 3rd and 12.

His YPA is eye popping. 9.44 per attempt is amazing. At the end of the season he will be on top there, Fitzpatrick is now but he will come back to Earth.

He's on pace to hit 5,000 yards and 35 TD's and is currently 2nd in total yards. Now think about this..........he is 9th in pass attempts so it's not like he's just throwing more than everyone.

Adding to the prolific production are the intangibles. The things that make people say "yeah he has the it factor". His footwork, pocket awareness, accuracy (68.4%), poise under pressure are all flat out fantastic. Plus he takes care of the ball. And by the way, he has 3rd fourth quarter comeback in the 10 games so far and 3 game winning drives.

There's no9 more "well let's see".

We see.

He was elite at Cal. He's a pure QB. You can't teach what he does or is capable of.

Here is how I see it and it depends what the definition of elite is.....To this point, you have the occaision where he misses a WR wide open. Happen against the Packers & Saints when he missed Woods in crucial situations....All in All IMO, he's only in his second year because under Fisher, Boras and Tinky Weinke, it's amazing it did not take a couple of years to deprogram.

I love the kid and this comes from somebody who wanted Carson Wentz and complained after the choice was made. Overall, Goff is on the cusp, but not quite ready for the elite status as I need some post season victories to evaluate him to that level.

If missing a WR is enough to make somebody not elite there aren’t any elite QBs then. They all miss guys sometimes.

You want to know whats really interesting to me?

There is one name that hasn't even been mentioned in this thread, last years Mahomes, Carson Wentz.

Jared has silenced the Goff/Wentz debate and nobody even noticed.

How about regular season won/loss record under Goff?

Since 2017:

20 Wins
6 Losses

70% Win Percentage Under Goff!

Edit: No Injuries - Started All 26 Games!

I don't really care what people call him. I'm just glad he's our QB. It's fun seeing him serve crow to people week after week.

We want to be a little bit careful when using “come from behind victories in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes to play” as a basis for determining eliteness.

Because Goff seldom finds himself behind in the 4th quarter, for one thing.

He’s usually been busy kicking butt for the preceding 58 minutes. So, fewer opportunities for him to perform there than many other QB’s on lesser teams. Lol.

I started calling him elite like....3 hours before this topic was posted.

We want to see Goff stack up his 2 minute drives, but we don't want to our team to be in a position where we're down late in the 4th. :dizzy:

If we're going only 2018 then Goff is the best or second best QB in the NFL.

We can include last year too.......but in the moment is fine with me.

I think it's over as a discussion. Over. Done. Finished.

good point

LOL ok.

I thought of it four hours before I posted it.

Neenerneenerneener.

This year's playoffs are hopefully going to be his coming out party. Also, irt coming out party type games I do think that game for him was this season's Minnesota performance which pretty much shut all the media haters up. But he does have that quick playoff exit right now leering in the rear-view and it would be nice to see him get us to the big dance.

Oh and btw when you consider the greatest come from behind QB of all time, it's actually Brady in terms of sheer volume not only of comebacks but 4th quarter play in big games particularly in the playoffs. Who, btw, has largely had a Belichick-led defense supporting him. This is why I hope the Rams get this defense rolling after the bye week so they can run the damn table and the kid can be like "suck it MFers!"
