why would we go Wolford over Bennett? Or are there some more issues with Bennett I don't know about? Me, I'd prefer a proven QB at #2.
Because if Garoppolo doesn’t return there arent really any “proven” guys available
Maybe a trade for a Levis type
Hearing McVay speak it seems pretty clear Bennett isn’t part of the plan

In the event Stafford goes down for a long stretch I want to lose games so we draft high in the 2027 NFL draft. This is why I don't sign an experienced backup who's gonna come in and give us .500 ball and fuck up our chances of getting McVay a new QB1.

Also this year I'd take one of these midround types. We all have our preferences of those options, but all of them have holes in their games or come with shit tons of projection. So just pick one and hopefully he turns into a QB2 for the 2027 season.

The goal in this draft should be to draft a QB2 mid to late. And finding early contributors in the first few rounds of picks to increase our title odds.

But last year at this time, THIS YEAR was supposed to have a bunch of stud QB prospects.

Jimmy G is a good QB - he overthrew one ball in the Super Bowl about 8 years ago and all of a sudden he sucks? So stupid.

Bennett was a good college QB and has been on the team for 3 years. We don't think he can have success?

When Trent Geene went down about 27 years ago, a grocery clerk won us a Super Bowl. I learned my lesson.

Just because last year Stafford was great, doesn't mean JG or Bennett can't play at a decent level this year.

The vet back up pool is shrinking. There are a few vets that could win us a few games potentially:
Wilson
Taylor
Jimmy G
Bridgewater

Though I kind of like this route. On one hand, are we going to win the SB with any of those vets? No. I never want to see my Rams lose, but, if it may help acquire a franchise QB that leads us to the playoffs for the next 10 years, it may be worth it. FWIW - I'd be devastated because I fully expect us to win the SB this season.

Also still think there is a 25% chance we pick Simpson and he's our back up.

Well 2 of the supposed stud QB's elected to return to school, hard to predict that. I thought for certain Sellers would enter the draft at least.

I think a guy like Nussmeier might be underdrafted because of the core injury that prevented him from succeeding last season. Might be a solid back up that can be had in the 3rd.

Sad Oh No GIF by nobodies.

IDK I watched quite a bit of Simpson, wanting to like him & just never did.
The shrewd analysts really like his processing. They are seeing things that translate to the Pro game. He was hurt the last half of his year at Alabama and didn't have the greatest talent on the field with him either. There's something about this kid....

He was talked about being the #1 pick in the draft through week 9, then he got sick and hurt. You also should factor in that Bama had a atrocious running game, tons of WR drops, and bad OL. Think he had the most drops in college last year and bottom level run game to support him. Have to think playing here, he would flourish.

I disagree I believe with Jimmy Garoppolo the Rams could still win games and win in post season too.
I didn't like the offense in that last game where he started for us. Way too screen dependent. So I don't think Jimmy starting a ton of games would go well for us. Maybe we win more than half of them, but what's the point of that if we lose Stafford for any length of time. It's not like we're a threat for the title with Jimmy at QB so all he'd do is fuck up our draft position.

What??? Didnt like the offense? Garoppolo went 27-41 for 334. This all without starting running back Kyren, backup running back Corum, and top two receivers Nacua and Kupp. I'm pretty certain there was some offensive line non-starters playing too. I'm sure McVay thinks he's just fine too in case of Stafford injury. Personally I believe Jimmy Garoppolo is capable of Nick Foles-ing or Jeff Hostetler-ing us to a title in case of injury.

27 of 41 with like 20 fucking dumpoffs and screens.

Garoppolo is not the QB for this offense. He's an underneath game manager.

Yards are yards. Guys been a good quarterback in this league. I seem to remember those dump offs working against us his first eight games he played us.

Not true.

If you're limited to the underneath you are going to face a team that can shut your run game down and sit on your wideouts. Then you have jack shit.

Can we see him play one game with the starters for us, before we say he can't do it, just ONE???
