Sean's offensive approach has been the most dynamic since the arrival of a bespectacled, white haired OC from the Washington Redskins back in the spring of 1999. The GSOT ushered in the modern passing offense and took this league by storm. Although some of the current rules now favor the QB and receivers, Mad Mike Martz had the advantage that most teams lacked quality #3 CBs, and there were virtually no quality #4 CBs.
Sean has to deal with the modern NFL with most teams sporting quality #3/#4 CBs as well as more pass savvy safeties and LBs. Although we have leapfrogged from the league's worst to the best offense---scoring-wise, as Sean would say, "We're just getting warmed up!" The TE subgroup of the Horns fly guys are essentially still in their nascent stages as our youthful TEs had the learn to absorb NFL-caliber hits on a more frequent basis and began to learn to be effective blockers at the pro level. These two features will be aided by their first full NFL off-season in Sean's system.
I am very interested in seeing/hearing whatever smidgens of news of Sammy's first full off-season with Jared in private practices as well as team work. Having to practice earnestly with Sammy, Josh, and Mike Thomas will automatically encouraged Jared to extend and refine his downfield passing game. We need to take the top off of every defensive roof moving forward. I would love to see Jared practice throwing the rock on the move as well since the better defenses will not allow him the luxury of standing in a comfortable pocket on a consistent basis.
I wonder if Sean has lans to extend Todd's involvement in the passing game. Will he consider having the Gurley Man run some WR-quality routes a la one Mr. Marshall Faulk, or is he content to stay with the screens and passes to the flats of 2017? If Robert, Sammy, Cooper Kupp, and, say, Josh are occupying the #1-#4 CBs, is there a safety or LB that can stay with Todd on a downfield route? Will we finally see Gerald Everett blossom as a super impact TE in 2018?
Is our Little Big Man, Tavon Austin to be retained or will he be a cap casualty? If he is released due to his excessive contract, who will take over the jet sweep run/decoy duties? Can we find another runner with Tavon's level of Warp 5 speed to terrify defenses into playing him honest, thereby allowing bigger holes for the Gurley Express!?
And, perhaps the biggest question of all, who replaces Dani in the hearts of Horns fans---especially those of the horny male category?
