So it's not negative Nancy-ism to be critical but it certainly is homerism to be positive?

You're calling your take "realistic" yet you claim, when talking about 13P and how it may produce in 2026, "No guarantee those numbers will remain the same so using last year's number don't mean much.".......and your logic includes, " you bet your ass teams will adjust". In other words, McVay isn't going to do anything? Isn't going to change anything? Isn't going to adjust his 13P? Guess he's been sitting around with his thumb up his ass since the end of the season?

.....on the other hand, you claim, "Whittington isn't going to improve much, he's a JAG for sure and we know what we have in him. Smith showed deep ball ability but not much else in my opinion so TBD there but he's a small dude so not a fan of that part necessarily. Mumpfield was meh last year but he can improve but I'm not banking on it being a crazy improvement personally but hope I'm surprised there." And all that is opinion, based on last year's performance, right? So one side of this discussion can't use last year's performance to make their point but you can use it to make yours? What's that called?

Not a bit of Negative-Nancy-ism there, eh?

Things can't change right? Guys don't develop from one year to the next? It's okay to write off last years performance in 13P because "teams will adjust" and we're stuck between a rock and a hard place because Whittington has been a jag and will always be a jag. So will Xavier. Mumpfield, you claim can improve but you're not banking on it being a crazy improvement.

As far as CJ Daniels (or Klare) are concerned there this take...."CJ Daniels is a rookie so I'm not expecting anything at all because well he's a rookie lol. So basically you've proven my point that they are all basically unproven. Lastly banking on Klare to all of a sudden ball out as a rookie is a stretch to me." Nobody said anything about banking on those 2 and that is what's realistic. Of course there's the FACT McVay has a history of finding WRs on day two or later who perform far beyond expectations as a rookie. No chance of that happening again?

The #1 offense in the NFL featured 4 quality TEs, 2 top notch WRs, a couple of dynamite RBs but damn man, that #3 WR is what we're really missing!!! We were missing it last year too, which is probably why we used 3 of them to be the #3 WR. Of course that's probably outside the box thinking that goes unnoticed.

No, I believe there is a lot of Negative-Nancy-ism involved with your take. At least as much as optimism in the other side of the discussion's take. I can only suggest, "hell we were #1 without an identifiable #3 WR last year so what's changed?"
Seems like I hit a nerve there being realistic to how nothing is guaranteed from this response. Yes being overly optimistic for rookies is definitely homerism but honestly every single fan base does it so again nothing wrong with it but its not a view I share. I expect rookies to be well rookies. Anytime one breaks thru, we are damn lucky but they all take time to develop so I don't see huge impacts across the board year 1 with this draft class nor was I super impressed by any WRs we had to step up to #3 which is where this conversation started.

Did I say anything about McVay having his thumb up his ass? Calm down with those anal responses and save that for someone that wants to hear about those kinda comments lol. Guess you'll just ignore McVay himself saying every year is different though huh? McVay is a great coach but this league is full of smart ass coaches and they'll adjust. I personally hope that McVay has not only added tweaks to 13 personell but to his 11 as well. How they'll translate is anyone's guess but my bad, that pisses you off because we were #1 last year and I should jump on the bandwagon and agree we'll be number 1 again automatically. Sorry doesn't work that way, Rams will have to prove it again like every other team out there. I like their chances but to automatically assume is not something I personally do. So no you're wrong at me being dismissive.

You seem stuck on I can't use what I saw to form an opinion on Whittington, Smith, and Mumpfield because I'm not using 13's success last year to automatically say it'll be just as successful next year? Thats just extremely weird to me, but I'll keep it nice and say nah, I can do that lol .... I'll never rule out any improvement by any player but as of this moment, I just don't see it being huge from those WRs mentioned. I said in another comment, I'd love to be wrong but that's just so negative though huh...

I have read comments on here of Klare adding an element we don't have in receiving when TE is the hardest position to adjust to in the NFL. I believe he has a great room to learn from but he'll have his bumps and bruises. Higbee, Ferguson, Parkinson, and maybe even Davis are in front of him now. I honestly think Klare is a more for the future pick that will be developed nicely vs huge impact year one. Daniels is a developmental WR. Again, not putting my money on those 2 to shine right away but I'd definitely be ok with that too. Still sound negative huh :laugh4:

Sounding offended about saying our depth isn't great at WR after Puka and Adams is just weird but hey if you disagree, kudos to you. Unfortunately my opinion on that won't change so I hope you're not too upset .... oh why am I lying, I really don't care if you are hahahaha

I'll close with again saying we have all the pieces to be a great offense again but nothing in the NFL is guaranteed year to year. That's a truth no one can rebuke. The nice part is we should have a much much more improved defense to help assist our offense in getting victories. It is a team game after all.

Seems like I hit a nerve there being realistic to how nothing is guaranteed from this response.
Talk about hitting a nerve. What I think is you're pissed I called out your Negative Nancy-ism. You seem to believe anybody who isn't as worried as you is a helpless homer. And it sure sounds like you believe worry and concern = realism. It doesn't. It equals worry and concern.

If I'm comprehending accurately, your major issue is you're worried about Puka or Davante getting injured and not having somebody step up (to their level). Tell me, what #3 WR in the entire NFL can do that? The realism there is there isn't one. We'd like every position to be two deep with All Pros but the salary cap prevents that. So the realism you claim to be using is a pipe dream.

Every year is different? No shit? McVay and Snead talk about having to roll that boulder back up the hill every year. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. It means you have to work hard every year to get it back up that hill. In fact these guys do it almost EVERY year, despite the NegNans worrying about #3 WRs or WR depth; O lineman or OL depth; Secondary or CB dept; or name some other concern to worry about, etc. etc.

I do want to address a couple of particular items in your post. No you didn't say McVay was sitting around with his thumb up his ass. You inferred it when you suggested coaches in this league will adjust. As if, McVay won't be prepared for that.

The second item is I'm not "stuck" on you forming an opinion by what you saw. Like they say, opinions are like assholes. What I am stuck on is you being blind to your hypocrasy. Like "we lack WR depth based on what I saw last year and what you saw last year from 13P can't possibly carry over to this year." In other words, 'what I saw is fact and final and what you saw is fantasy'.

Keep telling yourself your full of realism. Trust me, it ain't realism.

I'm actually laughing so you're way off on hitting some nerve as I'm no where near pissed but definitely confused why this stance would get the response its getting. I didn't go quoting you word for word. That to me shows "hitting the nerve" which is why I made my comment. Being a negative Nancy is more like we will disappoint again, we'll suck more than last year, we'll mess it up, fire McVay if we don't win, etc, etc. All I've said is nothing is guaranteed even though we are set up to have a great offense and you don't like that for whatever odd reason. Again, its do we have great WR depth and I said no. If Puka and Adam get hurt, we are going to definitely feel it. The response to that opinion has been 13 will carry us while mine is that isn't a guarantee. Is it possible? No shit Sherlock lol (sorry that fit here for me)....I'd personally like another vet WR to help pick up the slack just in case of injury but no one out there is going to replace those 2 so please don't go putting words in my mouth I never said for the sake of supporting some weird point you're trying to make. I have zero issues with people having homerism/optimism play into how players may perform even if I don't see it that way. All I said is I think it plays a role for those that'll think players may do better than I may think. Again your view on homerism is way off. Wow you are unbelievably consistent in misreading what I'm saying. Not once have I said its impossible for 13 to be successful just that theres no guarantee it will be as successful as teams will hone in on how to stop it. You are somehow connecting lack of depth/experience at WR to this which is again is weird a connection you're making to support the weird ass argument you're making. Lastly I don't need to convince myself that I'm looking at things realistically because I know I am. You disagree? That's your right even though I know you're wrong lol

That's all you said? It took 15 - 20 paragraphs but all it amounted to was one fucking sentence? Now that is some solid realism!!! How can I argue with such a crafty wordsmith? We have to watch the games to see what happens?

What's next? The key to winning is scoring more points? You can't complete a pass unless you throw the ball? My, the lessons to be learned if we just listen!!!

:ROFLMAO:

Thank you so much.

There was a long period between the Whit acquisition and the Avila pick where OL was kind of ignored or taken for granted. I doubt McSnead are lapsing, but the precedent is there.
Really surprising to me after Alaric’s medical history and the disaster from 2022. Snead said he learned just how valuable the OL is, I expected that to mean they’d never put themselves in jeopardy like that again.

Now combine the shitshow with Jackson’s off field issues again and they are back in jeopardy with no apparent back up plan if he’s out 6-8 weeks.

"During the 2022 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams had 8 offensive linemen miss games due to injury, and they were forced to play a total of 15 different offensive linemen over the course of the year, setting a modern record with 71 adjusted games lost along the offensive line."

Sheesh what a horrific season that was.

Yep. That was really hard to watch and extremely difficult for McVay to deal with mentally. He really grew from that though IMO.

Agreed. If he could come in here and keep his fuckin mouth shut, and focus on being a good teammate and winning a title, and if he could convince Coach and the Staff he's all in... I'd be fine with it.

But I have a strong dislike for that MFer.
I remember him taunting us, and even AD, on social media, then crying on the sideline when he lost. Wasn't that the time OBJ went over to console him?

Wow you're a real charmer and smart one aren't ya? I'm sorry that your cluelessness about what I say just doesn't bother me. Nice try though trying to provoke something with that weak ass shit talking you're doing, but at least you're enjoying it so that's nice for you. Amazing the loops some will jump when they make zero sense. Have fun thinking you really got some weird ass points across. I'll chalk these responses under wtf was that :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4:

We all know football comes with the inherent risk of injury, but fuck was that a level of shitty luck that sucked ass. I hope to never see something like that again.

I don’t see a vet WR out there who is going to take a vet minimum, not be a cancer and be better than what we have in house. To get what would replace Puka of Davonte for a short period they are either $20 mil+ or divas I want no part of.

If Allen wants to join us for a reasonable price, I think he could help but he’s not replacing Puka. He might get it done as #2 for a game or two but is he going to have the chemistry with Stafford?

I think LT is WAY more of a problem than WR3
I wouldn't say never on WR3 at a vet minimum if we get AD back but totally understand wanting a better LT backup due to the depth we have there as well. By far those 2 areas are the weakest depth wise on a really good roster. I would applaud the addition of a good swing tackle as well even though we drafted Trost. With that said, would be nice if we hit on Trost as an o-line pick. Will be nice to read how he does in camp.

Totally agree in the case of Trost. Looking forward to seeing him play in training camp.

How many times have we seen WEAK DEPTH up front.Noteboom never really workout anywhere for more than a couple games.
I really don’t want to go back to THE PAST !! DJ Humpries still has that STANK though that’s FRESHLY left behind at LT.
I know this isn’t an Alaric Jackson thread though, but getting ready for training camp this next week will be interesting to watch the different YOUNG PLAYERS go against some of these RAM VETS.

My BIGGEST take is TE - examples go Dan Villari from CUSE who signed the highest UDRFA contract this year.

Mac Klare is really going to be the Player I want to see in & out of the huddles though.I remember BEN SKO coming out as a Rookie & knew DAY 1 he was going to make The Rams roster.as a7th rd WR.

IMO Ferguson,Klare, & Villari will hold down that last WR position because of there diversity.Max Klare is going to be Bigger,Stronger, and more Athletic than SKO ever was at WR.
The point isn’t to knock Ben,but to show an 3rd rd pick vs. a 7th rd pick. The fact Klare is going to be able to Block, catch, and Run better Routes will be that added benefit.
The added depth by signing VALLARI is my example of how 13 personnel is going to work & change how The Rams Extra WR position is going to be FILLED!!

I believe I & others will be reporting about that & how they are also lining up out wide.

That ALL said The Rams have a lot of Hungry young WR’s who some last Preseason Helped Win some Games with Stetson Bennet.

Not to mention Stafford and Kupp missed 8 games each and Donald missed 6. It was a total clusterfuck. A lost year. 100% sad except for that Mayfield magic and the story line that went with it. Hard to believe we were actually 3-3 before the bye. I don't remember what the predictions were going into 2023 but they couldn't have been good. Wait........wasn't there a long discussion whether the Rams were in a rebuild or simply a reload?

Here's the target share for when Puka was out; 1/2 of the Baltimore game, all of the Jacksonville game

Balt: Adams 9, Whittington 4, Higbee 4, Kyren 2, Allen 2, Mumpfield 2 (WR2 down 9*, TE 6, RB 2)...*Puka had 3 targets before going down.
Jax: Adams 8, Higbee 6, Whittington 4, Parkinson 3, Ferguson 3, Kyren 3, Xavier 3 (WR2 down 7, TE 12, RB 3)

Here's the target share for when Adams was out: Seattle, Atlanta, Arizona

Seattle: Puka 16, Mumpfield 8, Kyren 6, Allen 5, Ferguson 4, Parkinson 4, Xavier 2, Corum 2 (WR2 down 10, TE 13, RB 8)
Atlanta: Puka 10, Parkinson 7, Xavier 6, Mumpfield 5, Ferguson 4, Kyren 3 (WR2 down 11, TE 11, RB 3)
Arizona: Puka 11, Parkinson 7, Higbee 6, Kyren 5, Atwell 3, Xavier 2 (WR2 down 5, TE 13, RB 5)

I'm not seeing this desperate need for WR3 when WR1 or WR2 are injured. Hell, I believe even with TEs being targeted more than WR2 down, Kyren should get more targets.

I'm not sure as I smacked some butt cheeks my first time at a strip club so much my right hand was a little beat up yet those ladies were just fine......then again my wallet was definitely hurting too so you may be on to something.

So let me ask you a question....do you think its likely that our WR group 3-6 are better this year than they were last? With the addition of Daniels and the youngsters all having another year of experience?

Careful now. Some people move the goal posts when it comes to last year and this year. It's okay in some instances but verbotten in others. Anyway, logic suggests there's at least a decent possibility for some improvement from one of the 3. Of course, the more, the merrier.

Of course its a possible as our #3 WR position wasn't crazy good last year. I've said I just don't think it'll be a big jump. The drop off in talent from #2 to #3 WR is definitely there, it is for most teams. Reason I'm interested in the Rams adding a #3 vet WR if possible is to close that gap as much as possible since we have a team ready to win it all now. I don't think any of the WRs from 3-6 will be better than a good vet. With that said, I get there's other dynamics in play as far as AD signing, AJ's legal shit, and apparently Puka's bite stuff coming back up (which is annoying by the way).
