I was a little concerned when we traded for him. Either he does well and we drop big $$ on him, or he doesn't do that well and we coughed up a very valuable 2nd rounder.I’m afraid Watkins fits the woods role and isn’t suited for the burner.

I think this stretch is the toughest of our schedule especially when you consider the intra-season dynamics.
We faced a Seattle team that has among the best defenses in the NFL, Jax who was coming off of a shellacking of Pittsburgh and another of the best defenses in the NFL and now AZ that looks like world beaters with an Offense that looks like it could rival Pittsburgh's when it's firing on all cylinders.
If we come out of that 2-1, we'll look good.
I really don't care about sexy wins (and that Brady jersey is gonna burn my skin like acid, but if it means we end up 11-5, I'll totally take one for the team!).
The MOST impressive thing about this team only a few months from Fisher's departure is that they keep the faith and keep finding ways to win.
We all know that "finding ways to win" and "being healthy" are two of the most important things a team needs to be successful... WAAAY more important than winning the draft or having star players.

I don't know, Mack. We have a tough schedule in the second half of the year. But if we can get to 6-2, we'll have a shot.

Y'all worry too much.Yes, we definitely have an ugly 2nd half schedule. Totally agree.

My only point is that we seem to have caught teams at or achieving their high point (like AZ having "discovered" a rejuvenated AP...dammit).
So, to be 4-2 like this... that's really special and bodes well for the woodchipper of a schedule we're facing...
I am not suggest forcing him the ball.Personally, I think trying to force the ball to Watkins almost cost us an interception when Goff had Kupp open. Watkins also dropped a third down pass early in this game. Goff and Watkins need to get on the same page deep, as they're always just a few inches off. But I'm not really feeling like we need to get Watkins going. I think our offense functions well even without him going.
I also wonder if Watkins knows the entirety of the scheme yet. It seemed like Kupp had to set him straight on a couple of audibles. And when he didn't have a WR to set him straight, he seemed confused about what he was supposed to do.
I would love to get Watkins going, especially deep. But I don't want us forcing anything to him.
Since we are winning, I guess paying Austin $15mil this year is also money well spent. We won, money well spent, this is a team game, we will use Watkins when we need him.

I just question giving up a high pick for a player with an expiring contract. If he doesn't produce, you are left over paying to keep him or pissing away a high pick.
Yes, it's not my money, so I'm cool. I don't really care. Can we stop talking about salary though? I know people get paid more than me at work that do half the job, it's out of my control and I let it be.Since we are winning, I guess paying Austin $15mil this year is also money well spent.
Wrong thread.Since we are winning, I guess paying Austin $15mil this year is also money well spent.
