Is it possible that Limmer is learning by communicating with the centers that he lines up next to?
Anything is possible. Rams may be thinking anything here as well. We're making guesses here of course.

But way I see it is he needs reps making the decisions if he's going to improve on the calls. Best way to learn. So if you are the staff and you see him as potentially your starting center, his ass would be in there.

Long way to go in camp and anything can happen. But at this point my read on it is the Rams have moved off Limmer as a pivot.

Unless it's just cross-training, if Limmer isn't beating Dedrich for the backup center spot, how bad was Avila or Jonah Jackson at center last year? No way they were that bad at center. This must be politics - maybe they didn't want that much money invested into the oline between AJ, KD, RH, and JJ.

Now we still need a center that can handle a bull rush.
Its TC they have a pretty good idea what Limmer is at C. This is when the coaches move guys around to see what they offer at other spots. The more spots the coaches are comfortable with a player at, the more likely they are to dress on gamedays.

Yes they move ppl around but if they want him to replace Shelton, it makes sense to me to get him comfortable at 2nd string C first before cross training him at other positions.

I see the secondary as suspect, in terms of who handles the top draws. We need someone to step up big and handle that.
Here's my take. Landman and Speights behind Ford should beef up our run defensive, much better than last year's 28th run defense ranking. So, more passing, where we have one hell of a pass rush built out. And depth...with the likes of Tyler Davis, giving that pass rush fresh bodies every snap.

I'm looking at improvement in the run defense, with a hell of a pass rush, that will offset the weaker backfield. It's the run defense and pass rush that will "step up" big!

So, I'm down for a stellar Rams defense this coming season...exited to get it going!

Yeah Ford's addition should mean the DL as a whole will occupy the opposing OL on most snaps. Which protects the offball boys. He's a big upgrade over Brown. And then the competition among the ILB room should push that unit on top of that, so I'd agree the run defense will be stout.

Rams were T-29th vs the run last season by the way. Should see a very big improvement.

Oh...it was 29th...I was close. It's definitely got to improve this season.
