The only thing I can think this changes is the willingness for the Browns to trade out of their pick. Dont think its a big change but enough that the right offer could do it, especially if they like a QB expected to go lower

The details of the contract matter a lot, too. If there's a lot of guaranteed money, that would mean they are figuring that they can develop somebody over several years - if it's fairly small, then they likely want somebody who might be ready before the end of the year.

Low risk high reward. Worst case scenario you cut him and keep his money. Best case scenario you have a franchise qb who is only 26. Smart move.

It's reportedly a done deal.

Doesn't mean the Browns pass on Wentz at 2, but man it might relax the competition a bit in terms of the Eagles or 9ers. Either way odds are better now for us to move up and get one of those two QBs.

Browns officially sign Robert Griffin III
7406.jpg

Browns signed Robert Griffin III, formerly of the Redskins, to a two-year contract.

This deal has been coming for quite some time. Coach Hue Jackson said the two sides had a "great meeting" during Griffin's visit with the team last week and called him a "tremendous talent." Jackson told Griffin during his visit he may have to compete with a highly-drafted rookie, so this signing will not stop the Browns from drafting either Cal QB Jared Goff or North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick. Griffin has as much upside as both quarterbacks and is still only 26. It is not out of the question he holds off a talented rookie for the starting job. The former rookie of the year has not started a game since 2014.

So the Rams need to trade up in front of San Fran to get Goff. Because this guarantees Wentz at #2

The browns would be stupid to not draft Wentz but its the browns so they will probably do something stupid.I hope they convince there selves to wait and take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round to compete with RG3

Cle could draft one of the top 3 players on D at pick 2, Bosa, Ramsey or Buckner. Then use there 2nd rounder and 4th rounder to trade back into round 1 and take Lynch.
Wentz or Goff arent considered cant-miss players but Bosa or Ramsey may be. Cant pass on those players.
