Scheelchase reportedly had "impressive" interview with Steelers. Reportedly appears to have "shot to top of the list".

2nd interview to likley take place next week.

Coulfmd have that extra 3rd rd pick coming.
This would be huge. Many have talked about just trading one of our 1st for a 1st next year in our quest for a heir apparent at QB but it takes two to tango.

Having some extra mid round picks could sweeten the pot for a team with a 1st next year to trade us if doing such a trade would require a little massaging with additional picks being sent back and forth.

I agree, but I also think there’s such a rush these days.

Remember Robert Woods signing and how people were pissed we overpaid?

Year one with the rams he hits career highs, then has two back to back 1200 yard seasons. Sometimes it just takes a bit for some of these guys to have the game slow down. I wasn’t really a fan of him in the first, but a lot of people had him mocked that way for a reason. Coleman is still younger than some people that will be drafted this year. He’s a kid. Maybe coaching changes his production, maybe a change of scenery will, or maybe he doesn’t make the jump…don’t know…but I’m just not a fan of writing a guy off after two seasons
Wasn't the deal with Woods that he was in QB hell on a bad franchise.

Edit: and not just that but that he was already a solid if not spectacular WR. I think Coleman hasn't proven that he's even solid yet.

I recall Woods being stuck with no QB and the team force feeding Sammy Watkins.
I dont remember folks being angry about the Woods deal, but I was also on the side of being relieved we got rid of Kenny Britt and Brian Quick

It could put them in position to reach on Simpson and still have 4 remaining top 100 picks to address CB, WR, a swing OT, and DT. And if they trade down with a pick or two, they could add more to double up on CB, maybe add a TE, etc...

I don't see a big FA period. It will be about maybe keeping Curl and or Durant, and then working on extensions for Puka and Turner, maybe even Avila.

The fact that only 6 rookies stuck this past year, a big draft is important, especially if they have to forfeit some picks over the next two drafts in 27' & 28' to go get a QB.

I think round 3 is the QB wheelhouse for us. Maybe round 4 but if they like one of these smallish QBs take him before they get a run on them.

Simpson is a fit but has flags that concern me. I think he should slot round 3 ish. If he goes early I think it is wasteful. I'd rather have Nussmeier or one of the others midrounds than reach on Simpson.

Simpson will go in the first round. There are too many quarterback-needy teams, and it's looking more and more likely that Chambliss might actually get a sixth year (he filed his injunction in Mississippi, and it's looking very likely he gets that sixth year) so I could see a scenario where some team reaches.

Nussmeir sounds like a solid career back up. Case Keenum type. Very avg arm. Average athleticism. Average to below average size, listed at 6-2 210, so who knows if accurate. Gets by on being savy, but yet has been mistake prone. Pass.

I wouldn't mind if they would move down 4 or 5 spots from 13 and then take him, IF they're really like him and his intangibles. Might get you an extra #2 or maybe a #3 & #4.

And might have a team after 13 take him from us. Don't get the idea what we should trade down if we like a guy and they think that's the range he will go in. If you want him take him.

I'm just not a Simpson fan, for various reasons.

Unfortunately, Fernando Mendoza aside (I'm assuming Chambliss goes back to school), there's not a quarterback in this class that I'd take with a pick on the first two days, especially ones that will be on Day 2.

If Simpson is still on the board at 13, I would love to see a trade-down to #16 (Jets) or #21 (Pittsburgh) should either QB-needy team be targeting Simpson.

Would be OK with either teams' 2nd round pick, plus their 2027 First Round selection ... or, in the alternative ... either teams' 1st round pick, plus their 3rd round draft choice (that would be five selections in the top-100).

He was never considered spectacular on the Bills, that is for certain. He had middling production (averaged 612 yards and 3 TDs a season over the four year period). But yes on the QB. He had EJ Manual and Kyle Orton. It didn’t stop Sammy Watkins from out producing Woods tho, and I would probably take a prime Woods over a prime Watkins tbh.

The QBs after Mendoza are all potential QB2s. Including Simpson. They all have different questions surrounding them.

It's not like I am high on Nussmeier, rather that he is a good value compared to Simpson. I prefer not to burn a top pick on Simpson. Would rather get players who help us now with those 2 first rounders.

I think if Simpson sits a year or two, gets a little bigger in the weight room, and learns behind Stafford and or Garrapolo, I think get could be a better Brock Purdy. He has a solid arm and he is considered a good processor. That's something a lot of these kids lack. He just needs more game experience.

Maybe sitting a few years, playing in preseason and a few reg season games here or there if injury hits, he could develop into a very good QB. We won't find another Stafford. If one falls into our laps then you move on to that guy.
