Depends upon one's definition of franchise QB and GREAT coach.I'm skeptical. Is is really far harder to find a franchise QB than a GREAT coach?
How many great coaches are even in the league? I don't know the answers, but I'm not sure of it being far harder.
Well, you're the one who made the assertion using those phrases so you tell me. How many great coaches do you see in the league? I'd say maybe there's a handful.Depends upon one's definition of franchise QB and GREAT coach.
Sorry. I just don't feel like counting or having this discussion.Well, you're the one who made the assertion using those phrases so you tell me. How many great coaches do you see in the league? I'd say maybe there's a handful.
Fair enough.Sorry. I just don't feel like counting or having this discussion.
But, I do consider Lamar Jackson a franchise QB and I'm iffy on John Harbaugh being a great Head Coach. Good perhaps. But, great?
Jackson had the best season of his career last year.I'd agree with your assessment if we're talking about the Jackson from a few years ago, but not for an athletically declining Jackson.
I'm not looking at stats. I'm looking at age and injuries. He's approaching 30, which is often when athleticism starts to decline and injuries start to increase, especially for runners.Jackson had the best season of his career last year
I take that with a grain of salt. It came from his agent. I'm sure there are teams who've contracted his agent but 7? 10? I'm not so sure about that. And I'm higher on Harbaugh than you are. Since he's been called by 10+ teams, it sounds like the whole league is, too.
Can you name 5 teams that have had a better last 8 years? 10 teams?I take that with a grain of salt. It came from his agent. I'm sure there are teams who've contracted his agent but 7? 10? I'm not so sure about that.
The last 8 years, he's had 6 postseasons. One and done 3 times including as the #1 seed. 1-1 the other 3 years. It's great he can get to the postseason that often or is it. Two of the teams in the division are two of the top 5 most poorly run franchise and the other hangs it's hat on never having a losing season but being even worse than Harbaugh in the postseason.
I think that's fair, I'll stand by my point too, I need to see two years in a row of decline before I personally make a declarative statement.I'm not looking at stats. I'm looking at age and injuries. He's approaching 30, which is often when athleticism starts to decline and injuries start to increase, especially for runners.
The Rams, the Eagles, Kansas City, Green Bay and Buffalo. That didn't take me long. Give me a couple of minutes and I'll add a couple more. Can you name 5 teams that have had a better last 8 years? 10 teams?
I'm certain his agent isn't lying. He should be the first call for every team with an opening, and frankly for some teams without an opening. I'm looking at you Miami.
People in the league seem to love him but consensus seems to be a year or two away.Looks like Davis Webb (Denver's QB coach) is getting some play with the Raiduhs. Smells like Brady, i.e. about as good as a fart in church.
Lamar needs more team around him than some other QBs would, in order to get it done in the playoffs. Stafford for example elevated this team during the playoffs in '21 season run. Take Stafford off that team they're a wildcard, maybe they lose second round. This is the impact of a QB who can win from the pocket and he also did it with no real run game behind him.I think we would agree that there's a window here with Lamar now before the wheels start to fall off a bit athletically (well, you may see it sooner) so I think if your Baltimore you make the pivot now. Curious who they get. I think Lamar and Stefanski could be a good scheme fit. Not sure though. Hear Jesse Minter's name a bunch, even Flores - but it sounds like Lamar needs a bit more kid gloves than a guy like Stafford or Brady so not sure people remember how it worked with Tua and Flores - that match sounds outlandish to me.
Sounds about right. The Ravens look to be on par with Buffalo and Green Bay. San Francisco is up there, too.The Rams, the Eagles, Kansas City, Green Bay and Buffalo. That didn't take me long. Give me a couple of minutes and I'll add a couple more.
Again, weak division. We're not talking NFC West or NFC North.
Yeah, we'd have to put SF up there too. Not as many wins (71) as Baltimore (86) but went to 2 SBs and has more postseason wins than the Ravens over that span. Gotta include Tampa (they got a Lombardi which automatically vaults them up) and New England. The Patriots last SB was 8 years ago and they have a great team this year. Plus they have as many postseason wins as Baltimore over that time.Sounds about right. The Ravens look to be on par with Buffalo and Green Bay. San Francisco is up there, too.
The Rams, Eagles, and KC are the top 3 teams in the league over the last 9 years or so. No shame in being listed behind them.
All of these teams, including the Ravens, have great coaching, a great front office, and great culture.
Yeah and it's a fair consensus. But I suppose then again if Kroenke had given two shits about consensus we wouldn't have hired McVay. So idk and we'll see how it ends up.People in the league seem to love him but consensus seems to be a year or two away.
