Why, oh why does nobody recognize how good Malcolm Brown is? Perhaps because Henderson is the shiny new toy? Riddle me this...what does Brown not do at a very high level? His YPC are more than Gurley’s. He runs both inside and out. How many great catches and sideline heroics have we seen from him? Have you EVER seen him miss an assignment in pass pro? As Henderson adapts to the pro game and Gurley maintains his knee, shouldn’t Brown be the breakout?
Grossly underrated IMO.

Good call leoram. I dig Malcolm Brown. So do the Rams. They let cunningham walk to keep Brown and benny was good.

MB is gonna have plenty of opportunity this season, because, as you said, he doesn't miss assignments. There's a reason why our other backup RBs did not play much last season--even when Gurley was hobbled.

Lets not sleep on Death Row Alum's Rapp & Gaines. Rapp I think can have a profound impacted on our Def

Yeah it's crazy how many possibilities the Rams have for breakout players. Gaines is going to get a ton of snaps, at least half but probably somewhere around 60% or more, and Rapp will get around 30-40% snaps going off of Christian's usage and the fact that Rapp is a more instinctive SS.

So many options though. And when you consider that most guys won't live up to expectations just out of the sheer number of possibilities we can count on three or so players stepping up to be strong contributors. Could be Reynolds, Everette, Boom or Allen, or Henderson just on offense and there are even more possibilities defensively with Obo, Ebu, Gaines, SJD, Fowler, Lawler, JFM, Littleton, Kiser, Long, Rapp, etc.

It's still kinda tough to believe how good we have it right now. Just crazy. (y)

I see a lot of votes for Everette and while I think he's going to show noticeable improvement this year the prob is for him to see the field Higs or Kupp need to sit.

So if Kupp is brought back extremely carefully and they don't let him go full speed early on I think Everette has a chance to demonstrate he can get 'er done in some 12 personnel and hopefully he'll take advantage at least enough to get more redzone looks during the rest of the season. If Kupp is ready to rock and roll game one, however, then Everette is going to have to steal snaps from Higs.

And re: stealing snaps from Higs the path to doing that is improvement in the run game. Higs is a really solid blocker.

I was going to vote for Blank, but I just don't think he'll see the field much this year. I'm hoping the defense gets him on the scoreboard a lot though.

We used to have lots of breakout candidates because everyone sucked, so anybody could break out. Not we have lots of breakout candidates because we're so damn good anybody could blow up any given year. It's a nice change of pace.

I've heard several talking heads mention that MB would be a starter on some teams.

Why didn't they try to sign him then? It's not like the Lions offered him a huge contract, after all.

So you want me to analyze the thought process of 31 general managers in the NFL!?!?!?!

Holy gamoly frijole!

I thought that was kind of an interesting statement on MB myself.

That's why it stuck out in my mind.
I remember one of the announcers saying that about Malcolm when he made that crazy tiptoe touchdown on the sidelines.

The other time was a nice run where he flattened a linebacker.

That 4.9 yards a tote certainly makes you wonder how he would do as a starter.
Excellent pass-catcher.

How these Scouts keep finding these excellent UDFA's I'll never figure out.

On the Detroit thing, it was almost like they owed us a favor or something with that lowball offer on Malcolm.

He can't stay healthy is the only thing he can't do

Not really necessary. They all had the chance to sign him, apparently for a bargain price. The one that did only gave him enough to allow his original cap-strapped team to match. I'm just skeptical that multiple if any teams felt that he was an upgrade for their starter.

He's a useful player - but apparently, teams aren't convinced that he's somebody you really want to start, as opposed to being the backup and emergency starter.

I get your point but I don't see any weakness in his game other than pure breakaway speed.
Sometimes I have to look at the number to realize it's not Gurley running the ball he looks so good.
He picks up the blitzer as well as anybody.
Excellent hands out of the backfield.

He seems close enough that I couldn't really say he's NOT starter material unless he proved he wasn't starter material.

Has anybody on the Rams staff mentioned that as a possibility?

It would certainly make sense if a Pro's Pro like Weddle was calling the D.
It was mentioned I believe in one of his interviews, where he said something to the effect.."If they want me to do that I'm fine, if not I'm fine"

I voted Everett because he needs to break out or he could be on a different Team next year .

BUT I think Marcus Pete's has a great year and proves everyone wrong . Hes too talented to have another bad year

Pretty much. Teams care about that with all positions, but RB in particular it's important. I feel bad for him that last season he got hurt at a time when we needed him. Somewhere there might be an alternate timeline where he took advantage and got a good contract with another team but either way I'm glad he's on our roster.
